First off, well done! Didn’t expect Signalis! Praise the panel!

Im really excited to hear a reference to Wolfs Rain

I thought A Short Hike was p good but there's definitely been a trend for "indie games" to mean a specific kind of twee story game apparently designed only to impress white guys who live in Portland and have waxed mustaches. I think it's already passed though and not really a problem these days. Plus the waxed mustache guys make pretty good games like Firewatch.

I’m only a couple games into the pod and completely forgot that Brandon hurt his wrist! Shoot!! Feel better buddy! I fractured my hand last year and it messed up games for me for a little while, so I feel for you.

A few things, I have that trucker hat from Stranger of Paradise and it fits super weird. It's like a kids sized trucker hat mixed with an engineer hat. It's a weird one. I need to throw some cold water on Signalis. It's good but it moves too fast for me to consider a true survival horror game. I would've told the team to include those crucial door transitions, and the first person sections seemed like a missed opportunity to me, but what do I know because I haven't finished it yet! Oh boy, I can't wait to hear Tim and Brandon talk about that Star Ocean game, I'm kinda surprised it didn't make the list. Square put out some really stale duds this year but those Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile games looked compelling.

I had an epiphany while playing Vampire Survivors. Is a rouge-lite just a game with extra steps? I'm throwing myself at enemies and dying just for money to get stronger. Once I'm stronger, it's basically fancy Robotron. What was the point of the journey, (dying repeatedly), when the end result is the same? I'm second-guessing my love for the genre now.

(brandon:) I don't mind the lack of horror in signalis and generally thought it was good but it wasn't on my list. We didn't talk about star ocean much - the story is absolutely a dead fish but the movement is fun, that's about all I have to say about it. that valkyrie profile game looks like too much of a dud for me to even get on sale but if I see it for less than 20 bucks I'll check it out.

Really appreciate the extra work and time you all take to get these longer episodes made. This was a lot of fun to listen to, and greatly enjoyed such a unique list (including a particular survival horror title I was a big fan of).

Heh, Josh Sawyer (Pentiment Creator) glammed out with a waxed moustache immediately after putting out the game, so you may be on to something, my friend.
