IMO the biggest disparity between the quality of a game's soundtrack and the actual game itself is Haunted Castle

WOW! coming down hard on the pokémon score! they've ridden that I-bVII thing for decades! i love the gen 1&2 soundtracks but it's just gotten obnoxious since then

fantastic episode

it feels like... they've got one of the most popular franchises in the world, you could try something beyond innocuous background music

Just gonna post this here - we have one of your REQUESTED GUESTS signed up for next week so look out for that

Keep em coming with the music recommendations, Brandon! Gathering Swans was my favorite record of 2020 thanks to your recommendation many moons ago.

Just dropping in to say this was a really fun episode, Ash should be a regular!

oh nice!! yeah, I (brandon) will keep recommending stuff. I should probably write my recommendations down so I don't have to just try and remember them spur of the moment.

Surprised this RE4 prototype wasn't mentioned. I personally would've enjoyed this version of the game more because it's atmospheric and contains some supernatural elements that are fairly atypical for the series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMBfgHLkIMo

I (brandon) think this is what frank was referring to when he said "it would've been resident evil, not resident evil 4" - I think this demo was in the back of all our minds then, though we didn't specifically reference it. I'd be interested in playing this game also! In a way I feel like the RE2 remake is closer to this in vibe... sort of!?

For the bad game/good music question "most Sonic games" was immediately what came to mind, even though I like a few of the bad games. Also Dreamcast might have my favorite start up sound, but I also love the GBA one which wasn't mentioned.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm we're gonna have to get back to you on that most sonic games idea. Acknowledging that the first 4/5 sonic games were the best ones, the music also got progressively worse!?
