So from the first episode, we gather Jimmy's story picks up late 2001/early 2002. Breaking Bad doesn't begin until mid-2008. The only clue we're given regarding how long Jimmy's been Sauling is in S5 when he says that he'd been working with the Vamonos Pest crew for 5 years. S5 takes place in 2009 so we can assume that at Saul has been the criminal lawyer since as late as 2004. That leaves a possible 2 year gap to see how Jimmy becomes Saul, as he's clearly not there yet as shown by his reluctance to engage with Nacho (Tuco's guy at the end) and him saying "I'm a lawyer, not a criminal." Regarding how Slippin' Jimmy would work: my understanding is that you can get injury compensation from entities who are liable for maintaining a sidewalk if you slip when it's icy. Either that or you try and get money from them to stop you suing, similar to what the skateboard twins did to Jimmy. I think that's how he was able to spot their scam as he appears to be the master of it :D

I like how Jimmy genuinely looks like the younger version of himself compared to the early Breaking Bad seasons. Amazing what a little weight loss can do.
