Random Rocket League Bullshittery - Update #4 (Patreon)

Good evening dear Patrons. So it's been a week since the last progress report, so I figured I'd let you know how things are getting on.

It's been 5 editing days. And in that time I've gone from 3 minutes edited to about 5 minutes. It would be about 7 minutes at the typical rate, but I wanted to spend Thursday and Friday working on structure and overall flow. Since I found the second half wasn't quite punchy enough.

I mentioned previously that I wasn't sure about the final couple of minutes. I'm still not entirely sure and have reduced the duration from 10 minutes to 8. But what I might do is squeeze a few scenes in the middle to try and bring up the run-time if necessary.

I was having a bit of fun with one scene this week.

There's a bit when Zeis and Cyanide and just yelling "fucka you" at each other during a charity game. And I was looking at ways to make it amusing visually.

So I unfurled the green-screen and put on a pair of black winter gloves. And then used blobs of Blu-Tac to make clear points of colour contrast on a recording of two gloves arguing like sock-puppets.

From there I was able to motion track the fluid hand-gestures into After Effects and have the text follow "paths" threaded between the white points. The result looks pretty amusing and it's one I might repeat in the future.

In terms of estimates, I should be able to get the remaining 3 minutes of the video done by next Wednesday. Entering the quality assurance for the Thursday and Friday. Though a weekend release might be a bit optimistic. I usually find lots of problems in the first renders. I'll let you know as it gets closer.
