Good evening dear patrons, and happy Friday to you all. So it's the end of week 4 on Random Arma Bullshittery (part 9). And here's how things are going so far.

By this point, I would normally find myself on the quality assurance stages for a video that's 10 minutes long. Having done the bulk of the text and animations in weeks 2 and 3 (averaging about 5 minutes per week). But since this video is more like 16 minutes long I should have spent that 4th week reaching editing minute 15.

However I am currently on the 12 minute and 16 second mark, meaning I'm behind by 2 minutes and 44 seconds.

Sorry about that. The reasons for it are the same as last week I'm afraid. The footage is so inconsistent in its frame-rate that it requires a lot more keyframing upfront in order to look smooth. Meaning that each individual scene just requires a lot more keyframing.

Plus, do you remember how last week I mentioned I was considering a framing device of sorts in the form of news-bulletins or a resistance propaganda song that would steadily get more comical? I allocated Friday and Monday to some recutting to see if that would work. And I think I'm going to try both of them. So I'm going to commission some artwork and also a jingle, and if it's sufficiently funny add it into the edit. Whilst also going through news footage and redubbing news correspondents to see if I can make it look like it's based on real events for added humour. I was also playing with the idea of adding camera shake and other small details to make it look like found footage from a group of really incompetent guerrillas (like the now meme-worthy Abu Hajaar). But I think that might going too far.

So I realise I did say at the start that I was going to do something time-boxed and easy after Mount & Blade bloated. And here I am doing something complex and difficult. But I rather hope you end up liking the result.

So next week, week 5, I need to catch up to that 16th minute mark. And then start polishing what's there whilst working on the framing device and seeing how it fits within the edit. But it's all coming together slowly but surely.
