Having recently posted his wife  I thought it only appropriate to post some images of Shining Armor, Captain of the Royal Guard.

Now Shining Armor often gets portrayed as being more of a jock than a high ranking military officer, both by Hasbro and the fans. However in my Equestria dreamscape I see him as a stallion who has a very compartmented life. When he's in uniform he's usually all business, but when he's off-duty and with friends, family, and now his wife and foal he's much more laid back.

Since I imagine Equestria being an interesting mix of 19th century Europe and the US. So I envisioned his dress uniform being like one of those cuirassier. Especially since many of their design elements were actually suppose to be inspired ancient Roman equipment. Which most of the armor worn by the Guard in series has a slight Classical feel.

I like your view of this equestrian universe. Hasbro and MLP seem to minimize the male. He either wanders about working, acting like a man jock or just bad. Like the Wonderbolts story. The stallion does bad things to stop Dash. Of course I look at it with the adult eye. A male eyeXD

Equestria is a much more egalitarian society in my dreamscape. Yes it does have a bit of a matriarchal bent to since it has been ruled by Celestia for the last 1000 years, but first a foremost Celestia promotes based on merit. She doesn't care about gender; she's interested in the best pony for the job.

In the comics, he can be quite the nerd, too.
