Fawkes study sketches (Patreon)

These are some study sketches of Fawkes who is teamed up with Haruka for a commission I am currently working on. Fawkes refers to himself as a being male but his body is an entirely artificial biomechanical construct. The client wanted him to have a armored body with obvious surface plate protection. However they also wanted a somewhat feline-like design to the character. After several emails with the client I settled upon a design and build that was inspired loosely on the smilodons or saber-tooth cats of millions of years ago.

Now Haruka rides with Fawkes when on missions but she doesn't ride on top of him, but instead she rides inside him. Fawkes has space inside what would be his chest cavity that acts as a cockpit for Haruka. The two share a cybernetic link that allows Haruka to see through Fawkes suite of sensors while conducting their missions. It also allows her to communicate directly with him via a neural net.

Fawkes is armored but he's not a tank. He has two light weapons weapon systems mounted swiveling ball turrets just behind his shoulders. Also he is capable biting, ripping, clawing, and general squishing of opponents in close combat.
