These are a couple of development sketches I am doing in preparation for a final color piece. One of the goals I have for 2015 is to get back to my ponies on motorcycles series of images.

For quite a while I have been trying to decide what kind of motorcycle Celestia the Co-ruler of Equestria and the Princess of Sun would ride. Then one day while looking through one of my chopper magazines I came across an article about a fellow who had built a chopper that was powered by a small radial engine like you might find on light aircraft. As I read the article and looked at the photos I realized that cylinders radiating out from the central crankcase looked like, well, the flames from Celestia's cutie mark.

Now there are several elements of this piece that I still want to sort out before I begin on the final piece. One is I want to see if I can bend the exhaust pipes from each of the cylinders so they more closely mimic the flames of Celestia's cutie mark. Also I want the forged wheels to mimic her cutie mark as well. But I feel like I am going in the direction with this piece.

Make it with this: http://www.rotecradialengines.com/0RotecR2800/R2800.htm Like this guy did! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEHTVQw2ql4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXRic0X8aA0 110hp 7 cylinder 2.8 liter radial, new manufacture. Without going too deep into the math, I'm theorizing about 30mpg given the rated specs and fuel burn. This would be an absolute torque-monster. After eliminating the propeller speed reduction gearing in favor of a chain drive back to a transmission, and you're looking at about 15" at the widest point and a 32" diameter. You can posit breakerless ignition (maybe even coil-over-plugs to eliminate the distributor) and fuel injection is already part of the deal. Wow. Okay, enough about the motor. Don't get me started on the rider.

Sir, I am at a loss for words to describe this wonderful piece of artwork.
