I nice thing to know from these films is that the stories are meant to represent the civil rights movement and racial discrimination and segregation in the western world. Just like African Americans and other minorities were discriminated by those in power and the majority of America pre-1960s (and even today in some situations) , the mutants are hated and discriminated against as well, in which they have to hide their abilities. Professor x is like MLK or WEB Dubois, he believes one day humans and mutants will work and live together in harmony. But this requires mutants to educate and learn to control their abilities, magneto is like Malcom x or Marcus Garvey, he believes humans will never truly accept mutants and will always come after their kind, so he believes in fighting humans. Like such, neither character is evil; they just have different views and methods of fighting the system and protecting their kind.

And yes that is the colossus from Deadpool, the character was changed in Deadpool to be bigger and to have a permanent metal form

I remember watching this movie in the theater as a kid. The opening scene with Nightcrawler in the White House was one of the coolest things I had ever seen on the big screen. The effects and choreography still hold up today.

Wanda and her brother being magnetos kids in the comics is 100% legit he is their father, I’m not sure if that’s true or not for mcu because we haven’t had any X-men in mcu yet

That was colossus! From deadpool ! There are versions of him that can turn back to a Normal guy there are versions that only stay metal.

Theres a lot to get through with the Xmen franchise.. a lot of good, and some truly awful - but all roads lead to "Logan" - which is probably one of the modern pinnacles of these types of films.

Feel like you guy may have missed something at the end, when the camera was panning over the water, did you see the phoenix under the water? can only mean one thing....

Definitely was a cliffhanger in the end, but you wouldn't get it if you never read the comics. It'll be explained in the next film though

so - just as a tid bit of detail - in the Marvel comics, Nightcrawler is the secret son of Mystique. Whether this is true in the Bryan Singer movies is never confirmed. In her interactions with Nightcrawler, it certainly seems like she is very detached from him - or at least feigns estrangement. Lady Deathstrike (the asian lady with the claws and regenerative abilities) also has a romantic relationship to Logan. This is also not confirmed in the movies, but his amnesia covers a lot of reasons why he wouldn't remember.

I also originally thought that when the dam broke at Alkali Lake that Bobby Drake (Iceman) would freeze the water and Jean would help fly them out of there. I'm guessing that the decision for them to ultimately sacrifice Jean Grey was to lead more directly into the next phase of her evolution - becoming the Phoenix.

Here's a fun fact for you all: In the comics, Mystique is Nightcrawler's mother, the blue guy with the tail. Also, Mystique is Rogue's adoptive mother. And yes it is true, Quicksilver and Wanda are the children of Magneto.

The mcu characters might meet multiverse versions of the X-men/mutants but the mcu version of mutants will start popping up after this second saga is over.
