omg thank you so much for reacting to this film. while this film may be a bit over the top in terms of acting and the violence. the sentiment of it still gets to me. Btw, that one scene where Young-shin gets branded as a traitor. I'm not sure those people were actual military if i recall. theyre just militia who see themselves as a police force more-like than a military unit. They basically took it upon themselves to weed out traitors. I personally think they did more harm than good since i do believe that yes, people had to do anything and everything to get food. The Korean War was especially brutal on the civilians and since the Korean government were so focused on war, they did start to forget to care for the people. This film gives me Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan vibes. The thing to remember too for the Korean War is that its essentially a large-scale civil war with North Korea, China, and I think Russia (Soviet Union) also ended up joining in and there was South Korea, the US, and the U.N. To put it into perspective, the Korean War is essentially like The US Civil War. And you really did have family members fighting against each other. My granpa on my mom's side escapd/defected to the South during this war. Sadly, he died before i was born so i never got to meet him. And its technically still going on. Theres only been tentative peace due to the armistice so both Koreas are continually on edge. I really appreciate that you reacted to this film. I'm actually surprised you were able to find a good copy of it somewhere since i was having trouble. haha. Cant wait for you both to check out the Admiral: Roaring Currents whenever you can. :) Sorry for the long comment. But from what i know, this is an original story but its based around historical events. But the actual story of the two brothers didnt exist. But its quite possibly based on historical accounts and experiences
