Godzilla Minus One is my personal favourite Godzilla movie up there alongside Godzilla (1954) and Shin Godzilla (2016) a highly divisive film but one I adore. He's a very political monster highlighting the experiences and fears the Japanese people went through at the hands of the U.S.A during the Second World War. From the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to the fire bombing of Japanese cities that charged massive destruction thanks to the heavy use of wood in Japanese structures with whole cities made out of wood. The fire bombing of Japan during WW2 was paralleled heavily in Shin Godzilla (2016) in an iconic scene that I'll not spoil for anyone. Godzilla simply doesnt work as an American film. Hollywood has all but removed the political message of Godzilla for better or worse depending on who you ask but thankfully Godzilla Minus One reverts back to his roots and I love that.

Godzilla is meant to be told in different stories, that’s what makes it unique and that’s why it lasted for 70 years, if you go back and watch some of the old Godzilla movies that were made in the 60s and 70s, it was pretty much all about the monster fights which makes sense because they want to reach a wider audience, Godzilla has lasted for 70 years because it’s been told very differently throughout the course of its time

I do like that for example Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack... Damn that's a long title. Well this film emphasizes the fantasy and folklore aspects of Godzilla over the more Sci Fi pulling a really interesting spin on a Godzilla film. It's a reflection of Japanese society throughout the years and you really do see that in all the films showcasing how much their society has changed since the 1954 film. But after 38 Godzilla films it's nice to return to his roots and that's one reason why I adore Minus One.

THE BEST MOSTERVERSE MOVIE I ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT THE HUMANS😂😂

Incredible how this $12 million budget film looks better than films such as Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which had a $276 million budget

Eg

Kamikaze pilot survivors were frowned upon due to the fact that their whole mission is to sacrifice their life to hurt the enemy, basically an oath.

Holly R

wait...how did you two watch this? I've been waiting for it to stream somewhere, and still can't find it.

Going from the Monsterverse to Minus One is JARRING. You go from "Hooray Godzilla is here to help!" to "RUN RUN FOR YOUR LIVES ITS GODZILLA SAVE THE CHILDREN"

Morgan

Godzilla minus one actually came out in theaters before Godzilla x Kong: the new empire. So New empire is the more newly released movie you watched but it’s really cool you watched both in the last 2 days!

Insert Opinion

Gojira 1954: I am a representation of the nuclear devastation Godzilla in the 70s: Want to see me do dance moves and fly?

Simon

All these new movie drops , will we be getting kung fu panda 4 sometime soon👀

Insert Opinion

Context for those who don't know. Most people know about how nukes were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but many don't realize that the firebombing of Tokyo is the the single most destructive bombing raid in human history. Around 100,000 dead and over a million left homeless. Seeing Godzilla just blow it up again after years of rebuilding was devastating to watch.

Simon

As much as I love the monster verse movies… this movie shits on them all. This is a real Godzilla movie so fucking well done, great reaction y’all very nice surprise 🔥

Conell Werts

I watched this for the first time with you guys and I absolutely loved that movie

Alex

it was about to win at one point but last poll it was almost last place

Jamie

Scary movie tomorrow?

Aldo Gonzales

Scary Movie won’t arrive until they finish either X-Men or Fast & Furious, and they said we can expect Hobbs & Shaw for tomorrow.

Jason Murillo

Super cool you guys watched this, one of my favorite movies from last year!

Mark

This movie is proof you can do a lot with a small budget. Director confirmed the black mark are Godzilla G cells that can transform you. Setup for potential sequels.

horwink

About your guys' theories; one of the theories for the movie is that the black in her veins is a mutation somewhat related to Godzilla's genes and that she did get obliterated, but she recovered from it because of the mutation. Or something like that.

Thank you so much for this upload. Fantastic movie and as usual a great reaction video!

Not just the best Godzilla movie, but one of the best films ever made, IMHO. A flawed, sympathetic protagonist battles the physical embodiment of his fear of death and finds his inner hero. I hope some people in Hollywood were paying attention.

Thanks a lot!

Such a beautiful film
