Ben 10 parody: Tier 1

Witch’s Trial of 10
Ben’s bloodline isn’t from this universe, his mother was from Ledgerdomain a dimension of magic. His powers started to manifest at five, and his mother started training him, so that he could be prepared for his ten trials when he was older.

Chapter 1 His first friend

“Mom!”

“Mom?”

“Mom!” A woman jerked up from the couch.

“What is it Kevin?” She groaned and rubbed her eyes.

“It’s my first day of school, you promised to take me.”

She groaned again. “I need a drink.” Mrs. Levin got up from the couch and walked to the kitchen.

“Have you been asleep down here all night?”

“Kevin...don’t talk to me until I’ve had my morning pick me up okay.” She rifled through the cabinets and pulled out a bottle of booze. “Yes!” Without wasting a second, she took a swig.

“Mom, you shouldn’t be drinking, I need you to take me to school.” She set the bottle down.

“Kevin sweetie please, mommy has a headache.” She rubbed her temples. “Have your dad drive you to school.”

‘So it’s one of those days…’ His dad died a couple of years ago, and his mother wasn’t exactly taking it well. “Did you at least fix me some lunch?”

“Ugh don’t they feed you kids at school nowadays. Just get some lunch at school.”

‘They do, but when you met with the principal a few months ago you were loaded and got mad at him when he asked you to fill out the forms so I could get a lunch. You said and I quote “What do you think I can’t make my son lunch or something?” end quote. Then you ripped up the form.’ He wanted to tell her this, but could tell she was already in a bad way today. “Sure mom.”

She started drinking again and Kevin left for school. Since she wasn’t driving he’d have to hoof it, and he didn’t want to be late on his first day.

He was late…

“Mr. Levin, I understand that it’s the first day for you, but showing up late is not the best way to start off at a new school.”

“Sorry sir, our car wouldn’t start and I had to walk.” A half lie, half truth, he found it helped people believe it.

“Well, see to it you arrive promptly next time.”

“Yes sir.”

The teacher introduced Kevin. “This is Kevin Levin, why don’t you have a seat next to Ben.”

A brunette raised his hand. ‘Guess that’s him.’ He started walking, right by Cash.

Trip!

Kevin fell. “Looks like we got a klutz!” the boy laughed.

“Cash Murray!” The teacher had that angry tone.

He put his hands behind his head. “What, I didn’t do nothing, his shoes are untied, he tripped over his own feet.” Kevin didn’t, yes his laces were messed up but Cash really did trip him.

“I didn’t...I didn’t…” Lot of kids in the classroom began to laugh, making Kevin’s cheeks burn in embarrassment.

“Kevin, please just take your seat.” He fumbled to get up and managed to take his seat next to Ben.

“Hey…” Ben whispered. “Don’t feel bad, Cash is a jerk to everyone.”

Levin was so flustered he didn’t even notice Ben wasn’t one of the kids who laughed at him.

He hated this, he wanted nothing more than to deck the jerk, but he already got in trouble at his last school that got him kicked out. Losing his dad was hard on him too. ‘Just got to make this work…’ He thought, hoping if he did better, his mom could do better.

Classes were mostly uneventful, but then came the time Kevin was dreading...lunch…

‘So hungry!’ He rubbed his stomach.

“Hey!” His heard turned to look at Ben. He was rocking a Sumo Slammers lunch box. “My mom packed me an extra sandwich do you want some.” Ben pulled out half the sandwich and offered it to Kevin.

“I...I…” He looked at the brunette with his short brown hair and striking green eyes. “I don’t need your pity!” His hand flew and he smacked the half away and it landed on the ground.

Ben was stunned, and it even took Kevin a moment to realize what he had done to. “Hahaha, even the new kid doesn’t want anything to do with a freak like you Tennyson!” Cash laughed and his yes man JT joined in.

‘What did I do?’ Ben thought.

He should have apologized, but instead he chose to run. The school had a soccer field, a tennis court, and a baseball diamond. Kevin ran to the baseball field. ‘Damn it...why did I do that...I’m so stupid!’ His stomach growled angrily. ‘So hungry!’

A flash of green light happened in the sky, before Kevin could look up a sandwich in a baggy fell on his head. “Ehh?” He looked around and didn’t see anyone. “A sandwich from the sky?” His stomach grumbled again. “Fuck it…”

He ate the food and sated his belly. “So good!” It was oddly filling for it being just one sandwich.

Ben smirked, slipping a wand into his pocket, he walked off.

After lunch, Kevin returned to class. ‘I should apologize.’ He kept stealing glances at Ben, unsure of where to start, but before he could class started and he had to be quiet.

One period came after another, and before Kevin knew it school was over. ‘Damn it!’ He banged his head on his desk.

“Hey!” He raised his head and saw Ben. “I’m Ben Tennyson, do you wanna be friends?”

“Oh um...sure…” He took Ben’s hand and shook it.

“Thanks, see ya later Kevin.”

He couldn’t help but smile. ‘I made a friend...he’s not mad at me…’ Still…

Kevin raced after Ben. “I’m sorry!”

“Huh?”

“About before, I’m sorry.” Levin bowed his head in apology.

“Oh, it’s cool man, first days can be stressful I shouldn’t have come at ya so hard, probably freaked you out.” He waved his head. “We all good!” Kevin got a thumbs up.

The two parted.

Kevin went home and his mom was dressed all fancy. He wanted to tell her he made a friend, but she was rushing around. “Mom?”

“Hey sweetie, I’m off to work.”

‘Liar!’ Kevin thought, he knew his mom wasn’t working, they had been living off his father’s life insurance for a good while now. She indeed wasn’t going to work, she was going out to party and have fun.

“Dinner is on the table, I’ll be back late, so be good and get to bed early.” She kissed him on the forehead and was off.

He checked the dinner table and there were boxes of Chinese food, judging from the state of the boxes and the food inside this had been ordered hours ago and left sat out. Kevin managed to salvage what he could and heat it up in the microwave but it was less satisfying then the single sandwich he had eaten earlier.

Kevin was feeling frustrated, he wanted to lash out and get mad, but he saw a picture of him and his dad. ‘I’m trying dad...I really am…’ He did his homework.

After he was done he looked at the photo again. “Hey dad, school kinda sucked, this little jerk messed with me but I didn’t hit him. I…” He smiled. “I made a friend, his name is Ben. He likes Sumo Slammers, and even offered to share his lunch with me. I think you’d like him, he seems nice...I hope…I want this to work out.”

Kevin woke up and managed to shower and get ready for school. He didn’t bother with breakfast and focused on getting to school on time. His mom was in her room at least.

He made it to school and bumped into Cash and JT. “Yo Levin how’s it going?”

“What do you want?”

“You aren’t still mad about that little trip are ya?” He swung an arm around Kevin’s shoulders. “That was just some hazing between friends.”

Levin brushed him off. “We are not friends.”

“What? You’d rather be friends with a loser freak like Ben?”

“Why are you calling him a freak?” Kevin crossed his arms.

“That’s because his whole family is creepy, his mom is into all kinds of weird occult stuff, she runs a shop that sells crystals, potions, and charms.” JT said. “And he’s weird he never lets anyone come over to his house, he always asks to hang out at other places.”

‘How is that creepy or freaky?’

“If you don’t want your social life to be dead on arrival you should ditch the little freak, and stick with a guy who’s going places.” He gestured to himself. “Like me!”

“I’ll decide who I hang out with thanks.” Kevin walked off and Cash glared at him.

“Your funeral.”

Ben offered to share his lunch with Kevin again today and this time he accepted. Not having any breakfast or lunch in him, had him pretty much on the ropes. The two got to chat about things, they shared similar likes of video games, comic books and shared a dislike of Cash.

Since Kevin turned him down Cash had turned up the bullying, knocking his books when he went between classes. JT shooting spit wads at him when no one was looking. When he walked by Cash he was tripped. ‘I’m really getting sick of this guy…’

Ben was getting it just as bad it seemed. After gym class Cash dumped a bucket of water on him, right after he finished changing. No one spoke up for him either, either they were scared of Cash or just didn’t want to help Ben. “I’m fine Kevin...it’s just water…” He said he’d be fine and to go on ahead. “I won’t be late.”

Levin left him and Ben slipped off to the bathroom. ‘Stupid Cash!’ He so wished he could just hex the jerk. “Yrd!”With a wave of his wand both his body and his clothes became dry.

The teacher just started roll call. “Ben Tennyson?” He looked around. “Where is Ben?”

“He might not be attending class today.” Cash said with a twisted grin on his face.

Just as Kevin was about to speak up, Ben walked in completely dry. “You just made it Mr. Tennyson take your seat.” He nodded and did.

‘How did he?’

Classes continued on, and weirdly enough Kevin didn’t want to go home. He didn’t know what state his mother would be in, he likely wasn’t gonna get dinner, at least not a proper one.

“Kevin, are you okay?” He nearly jumped.

“I’m fine!” His voice cracked.

“Okay...well don’t forget to put your books away before heading home okay?”

“Sure….” Ben headed out and when he passed by Levin’s locker he sent something into it. “Lucky Spell!” It was a wild card spell, that tended to be different every time.

Kevin went to put his books away and found a lunch box. ‘Ehh...who did this? Is it a prank?’

‘A boxed lunch huh? I wonder why that’s what appeared.’

He checked the lunch and found it too perfect to be believed. Gulp! It was too well made to be a prank.

Kevin went home, and it was hot, the long walk had him sweating. His mom was passed out on the couch a bunch of bottles around her.

He decided to grab a shower before he ate. When he went up stairs he found that the water was turned off. “Mom! Mom!”

“Huh...what?” She raised her head.

“The water is off!”

“Huh...oh...there was just a little mix up, it’ll be back on tomorrow.”

“Are you sure?”

“Of course. I sent a check.” She rolled over. “Just bare with it for tonight sweetie.”

Not like he had a choice. He went upstairs and did his homework, when he got hungry he ate the mystery lunch. ‘So good!’ His eyes sparkled and he began to scarf it down. ‘So yummy!’

He went to bed, and it was a hot night. When he woke up he really wanted to shower. They still had no water.

“Mom!” Kevin raced down stairs. “We still don’t have water.”

“It’s fine sweetie, I sent a check...somewhere I know I did.” He didn’t believe her.

“What am I supposed to do, I gotta go to school.”

“Ugh, they have showers at that place don’t they.” She rubbed her temples. “Just go shower at school, I got a headache.”

‘She wants me to walk to school and user the showers to clean myself, to go to school.’ The last thing he wanted was to be the kid that smells bad. ‘What else can I do?’

He grabbed some extra clothes and raced off to school. ‘Please be empty...please be empty…’ Then he bumped into Ben. ‘Crap!’ He took two steps back. ‘I hope he didn’t notice.’

“This way.” He said, and he helped lead Kevin to the showers.

Kevin was able to get cleaned up while Ben kept watch for him. “Thanks…”

“Hey, what are friends for?” Levin didn’t really know. He was just really happy.

To be continued...There’s Something Weird About Ben
Kevin is starting to notice that something is odd about his new friend Ben. He always seems to be around when he needs him, and good things seem to happen to him when Ben’s around. It could be coincidence or is there something more?
