Chapter 8

Chapter 9 Interference!

Lucy versus Flare began, and the red head was a piece of work, throwing insults at Lucy like she knew her at all. Her hair magic was tricky but Lucy had been training.

With her second origin she was more than capable of doing double summons. Cancer might as well have been her Achilles heel, his scissors able to be sever her hair magic no matter how complex the spell she used.

It was clear she wasn’t as powerful as she thought she was, as even when she hit Lucy with some attacks, she wasn’t phased much. A combination of both Lucy being stronger than her, and Flare not being as tough.

As Lucy began to dominate the fight, Flare turned it around, she had slipped some hair into the ground and now had it aimed at Alzack and Bisca’s daughter. She couldn’t say or do anything just let Flare beat the hell out of her. ‘What is going on?’ Natsu glared. ‘This isn’t right!’

His focus intensified on the match, looking for any explanation.

Flare was about to brand Lucy with the Raven Tail crest. “Asuka…” She said under her breath.

Natsu took off like a rocket. ‘I heard it!’ He raced through the crowd and found the tentacle of hair that was threatening the child. “Lucy! Asuka’s safe! Win this!”

“Damn it…” Flare cursed.

Lucy smirked and began to fight back. With a combination with Gemini she planned to unleash her ultimate spell, her magic power swelled, washing over the whole arena with it’s might. Everyone could both see it and feel it, but before the attack could launch...suddenly it was all gone…

“What happened...my magic…” Lucy collapsed.

Flare looked over to her team and saw Obra’s “pet” giving her a thumbs up. Flare began to mock Lucy. “That’s what you get for messing with me!”

“Raven Tail’s Flare wins!” The match was declared.

The crowd had no idea what happened, and just thought Lucy had failed to cast her spell, while many laughed others were not laughing. “Such a cowardly trick!” Jura snapped.

“Leave it!” The guild master for Lamia Scale said.

“But Master!” Lyon pleaded.

“It’s Makarov’s own fault for letting this happen, he didn’t keep his brat in check, any animosity between Raven Tail and Fairy Tail is not our business, don’t get involved.”

Yajima looked furious.

“What bad luck, poor Fairy Tail, it’s too bad I wanted to see what that spell could do.” Sting commented.

“Should we not speak up.” Yukino stepped forward.

“Why should we?” Orga snapped. “They aren’t our guild who cares what happens to them.”

Yukino looked between her team. “I know I am new to Sabertooth, and my opinion might not matter, but are the Grand Magic Games not a sacred event among us wizards. If we allow teams to cheat like this what is the point of winning.”

Her words held weight with Sting and Rogue, and maybe Rufus but not Orga. “They lost because they are weak, if they had been stronger then those Raven Tail punks wouldn’t have had a chance to cheat.”

“Sting, Rogue, Rufus...please...we must say something, out of respect for the Grand Magic Games, we cannot allow this.”

Sting balled his hand up into a fist. “It’s not our fight to fight.”

Ichiya may have been annoying but he wasn’t stupid enough to miss what happened. “The parfume of foul play!”

“Should we say something master?” Hibiki asked.

“How could we prove it?” Lucy’s spell was grand and flashy, the culprit used that as a cover to enact their sinister trick.

“Damn!” Laxus was pissed.

“Poor Lucy!” Mirajane was heart broken. She had tried so hard it wasn’t fair.

Gajeel was tensed up.

Jellal was pissed. “Enough of this, I’ll teach those guys a lesson myself!”

“I’m right there with you.” Laxus was ready to throw down. Fuck the bet, fuck the games, they can be eliminated if it means they took out these fuckers.

Natsu had enough. His magic power surged, his body growing slightly larger in his fury. “ENOUGH!” He roared. “RAVEN TAIL CHEATED!”

The crowd was silenced. “We have a rather bold declaration from Natsu Dragneel of Fairy Tail Team A, will he be able to prove it?”

Nullpudding laughed. “Aren’t you just making a fuss, because your team lost, a bad batch of sour grapes if you ask me.”

Dragneel glared at the man. “Shut your fucking mouth, or I’ll crush you like the insect you are!” Nullpudding wanted to snap back, but the look in Natsu’s eyes meant he didn’t care about this damn tournament, he would end him right here and now and leave nothing but ashes in the wind. This was a dragon’s fury, and one false move meant death.

The wrath of a dragon was one thing, but there was something darker hidden deeper. ‘I’ve never seen Natsu so angry before!’ Gray thought.

“You raised plenty of complaints in the first match. I’ll speak my peace now.” He had a point.

“Go ahead, make your claims, our guild did nothing wrong.” Alexei. He knew even if they scanned his team, Obra’s true power wasn’t detectable by any scans. He’d have to be caught in the act of using it. No official caught them. Their tracks were covered.

Even if Natsu could prove Lucy was suffering the same affliction as Wendy, all that meant was SOMEONE interfered, not specifically them.

“Check the field!” Natsu said, surprising them. “You’ll find a tunnel leading from the field to our spectator box. Flare threatened our guild mate, to force Lucy to take a beating!”

Obra’s tracks may have been covered, but Flare wasn’t so tricky. Sure enough they found an entry point and a tunnel leading to the box. “You bitch!” Alzack cursed, the pieces coming together. Flare had threatened his child, and Lucy took a beating for her sake.

The whole fight was recorded via lacrima, and upon viewing some footage, Flare’s hair could be seen in the box, and Natsu’s dynamic entry in destroying it. “It seems Flare got a member in the audience involved in the fight, as per the rules, she shall receive a penalty card for her team, the match shall be deemed a draw.”

With the match a draw both Raven Tail and Fairy Tail received 5 points. With the penalty card Raven Tail lost another 3 points. Natsu jumped down into the arena and helped pick Lucy up. The girl was crying. “To all the wizards who know what happened here, shame on you for not speaking up. I don’t care what reasons you have you dishonor yourselves, your guilds, and these games!”

“Who does that little punk think he is. I oughta…”

“Enough Orga.” Rufus stopped him. “He’s right, we all may be competing to win, but we should never allow such foul play. It would taint our inevitable victory, the memory of our win will be forever tarnished forever.”

“Ugh, I guess you have a point.”

-x-

‘He speaks of dishonor, when it’s also his fault that Simon is dead. Natsu Dragneel I will have you pay.’

-x-

Natsu carried Lucy to the medical room. She kept muttering apologies but Dragneel wasn’t hearing it, she didn’t do anything wrong and had nothing to apologize for. “You did great!” He shrank back down.

-x-

He went back towards the arena, only to stop when a cloaked figure appeared behind him. “You should have given into your rage and destroyed them.” The figure shifted. “Sooner or later the Hell Gate of Flames will open.”

“What?” Natsu whipped around only for the figure to be gone. “Who…” It was weird there wasn’t even a scent trail.

-x-

He made it back to the arena still shaken by the strange encounter. “Natsu...you okay?”

“Yeah...yeah...I’m fine…Lucy’s fine...well...she will be.”

The fights continued with Ren of Blue Pegasus vs Araña of Mermaid Heel.

Akatsuki struggled only for a bit, getting some morale support from his fiancee. He defeated Araña and gained 10 points for Blue Pegasus.

Next was Warcry of Quatro Cerberus and Orga of Sabertooth. ‘Let me show you how the strongest fight.’ With one attack of his Lightning God Slayer magic he blasted Warcry and the fight was over. As fast as a lightning strike.

Next up was Mystogan(Jellal) of Fairy Tail B vs Jura of Lamia Scale. Before Jellal made it to the Arena Natsu went to wish him luck. “You gonna be okay out there?”

“I’ll be fine!” The last part came out as a moan as Natsu palmed him through his clothes. “Natsu!”

“You are undercover, I want you to win, but do what you have to to protect your identity. I couldn’t stand to see you going back to jail.”

“I ahh...don’t want that either.” Natsu lifted Jellal’s shirt and saw the fairy tail mark over his left pectoral.

“That marks look good on you, ya know?” Jellal shivered.

Natsu kissed his chest.

‘I am not worthy to bare this symbol yet, no matter how much I want it. For Natsu and the honor of Fairy Tail I will do my best.’ Dragneel lowered his mask for a moment. Sealing his lips over his.

“A good luck kiss.” Dragneel put his mask back on. “Do your best out there.”

The clash between two wizard saints began, and the clash was intense, neither of them seemingly able to get advantage over the other. ‘If I wanna beat him, I’ll have to use that magic!’ If he did, he’ll expose himself.

He cast a glance to Natsu, who was cheering him on. ‘No...this isn’t the way…’

Jura figured out Jellal’s identity, but in honor of his silence before he decided to keep this secret. Jellal began to use a mix of Mystogan’s magic and his own, being able to draw out the fight. Jura truly did his best, but he wasn’t able to land a critical blow against Jellal.

Had this been a fight to the death it was a coin toss who would win, but this wasn’t a fight to the death, it was a game, with a time limit. “Time is up!” The match was a draw, Fairy Tail B and Lamia Scale each getting 5 points.

Mavis was actually impressed with Jellal’s performance. ‘He might be a good member for Fairy Tail after all.’

The days events were over…

In First Place with 20 Points was Sabertooth
In Second Place with 13 Points was Lamia Scale
In Third Place with 11 Points was Blue Pegasus
In Fourth Place with 8 Points was Raven Tail
In Fifth Place with 7 Points was Fairy Tail B
In Sixth Place with 5 Points was Fairy Tail A
In Seventh Place with 4 Points was Mermaid Heel
In Last Place was Quatro Cerberus with 3 Points

This standing shocked everyone as Fairy Tail always came in last place.

To be continued
