Sung Jinwoo has been chosen to be a player by the system as such he’s able to level up and get stronger, surpassing his rank and old abilities. Because of this he’s been gaining new skills and abilities. While he’s been leveling up and getting stronger surpassing his E rank status he doesn’t know if anyone else can do the same. Thus his skill Law of the Jungle comes into play, it allows him to apply the system to anyone he’s fucked or dominated.

Chapter 1 Yoo Jinho

Jinwoo had walked into a trap by some lizards. Hwang Dongsuk had intended to kill them from the start, had he not leveled up and surpassed his limits as an E-Rank he would have been killed, either by the boss or by them.

Yoo Jinho was a D rank hunter with some expensive armor and weapons. All gifts from his father for his first raid. Dongsuk left them to die by the Dungeon Boss a giant spider monster.

Jinwoo faced the boss on his own, and while he nearly died, he had saved up a full restoration reward from his daily quests. The system provided him three rewards upon completing his daily tasks.

Once he was fully restored he was able to beat the boss using his special daggers, inflicting Paralysis and Drain on the beast over and over again.

Yoo Jinho was stunned, at the start of this adventure he thought he’d be protecting Jinwoo not the other way around. ‘Is he a false ranker?’ There were not good rumors about false rankers, as typically they are psychopaths that sneak onto raid teams to murder the party after the boss was killed.

He witnessed Sung’s strength and was bewildered. ‘He’s so strong!’

Then the lizards came back, these men had planned to either use them as bait or kill them and take their gear from the start. They were only alive because Jinwoo was strong as hell. Each of them were powerful in their own right, a party of lizards willing to cut off their own tail to survive. When he was first starting out Jinwoo was warned about men like this.

These men...they didn’t have to do this, but have done it enough times they were getting off on this. They would do this again and again had they not made the mistake of letting Jinwoo into the party. That was their first mistake their second…

“Yoo Jinho, we’ll let you live, just help us kill Sung Jinwoo.” They believed that it was Jinho who managed to kill the boss, thanks to his expensive armor and weapon.

Yoo looked at Sung to the men, all of them were higher ranked, skilled fighters, and had experience in killing people. Despite all this he stood in front of Jinwoo and held his sword in defense of him. “Jinwoo-san...get away...I...I’ll hold them off…”

The lizards laughed at this display, but Yoo had made the right choice. With these men threatening Sung’s life the system deemed them a threat and activated a quest. Yoo sided with Jinwoo and wasn’t recognized as an enemy by the system.

It was kill or be killed and Jinwoo refused to die here.

Hwang’s party was slaughtered right before his eyes. He was a C Rank Tanker and his party was around the same rank, but were a tight unit, to have one man and an E Rank no less bring them down it was unbelievable. Five C Ranks and Four D Ranks, but even they had unique talents that made them dangerous. ‘How...how...how is this possible!?’

‘What’s this skill?’ He’d have to look into it later, they didn’t have much time to collect the ore before the dungeon closed.

It did pain Jinwoo a bit, taking human life, his options were limited even if he ran, he’d be leaving Jinho to die. The idea didn’t sit well with him especially with what happened to him in the temple. He couldn’t leave any of them alive, the system wouldn’t allow that. They were gonna kill him, he acted in self defense. Despite all the reasons and justification, he let his actions weigh on his soul.

He didn’t want to end up like Hwang Dongsuk, who saw life as nothing but easy quick cash. ‘I will not regret what I did, but I mustn’t forget it either.’

Yoo helped cover him with the reports, typically what happens in the dungeon stays in the dungeon, but this was Jinwoo’s second mysterious incident, it brought some attention. With Jinho’s help the narrative was spun that the C Rank Party died fighting the boss, but the special items Yoo brought with him helped defeat the tired enemy.

To think all this happened because he was desperate to pay rent.

He hoped this matter would be closed, but it wasn’t exactly over. Hwang may have been just a C Rank Hunter, but his little brother was S Rank, he was famous by association. His death would cause his brother to get involved which meant trouble for the Organization. Some of the higher ups were taking notice, and would investigate further.

Sung was examining his skills. By killing the other hunters he leveled up and gained bits and bobs. One skill was called Bloodlust, by using some mana, he could inflict the Fear Status Condition on targets of his choosing, causing their stats to drop 50%.

‘Law of the Jungle?’ This one was the reward for completing the emergency quest. Typically it meant survival of the strongest or fittest, it also alluded to the jungle as a place devoid of ethics where brutality reigns. He opened the skill and his eyes widened as he read the description. ‘This is...does this mean…’

“Brother!” His sister called. “You have a phone call.”

Much to Jinwoo’s surprise Yoo reached out to him and called him out for a chat. They met up at a local cafe. “Thank you I guess for covering for what happened.” Yoo shook his head.

“You saved my life...those guys...they were gonna kill me...kill us the whole time…” The idea still terrified him, it was his first dungeon and he was almost betrayed and stabbed in the back.

“Then why do you seem so nervous?”

Yoo gulped. Typically false rankers were maniacs who enjoyed killing people. ‘No...if that were the case Jinwoo wouldn’t have protected me.’

“I...was naive, I wanted to protect you but I was weak and ended up needing your protection…” Sung could see the frustration on the boy’s face, he knew it well. He had been known as the Weakest Hunter in the World after all.

The truth was Yoo wanted to start his own Hunter Guild, to do that he needed to clear at least 20 dungeon raids. He wanted to hire Sung as part of his strike force. “Please I’ll pay...I...I can’t do this on my own...I realized that after…”

Becoming a guild was a big deal, he could see why Jinho’s family was trying to do it. Jinho trusted him. “I’ll keep your secret about you hiding your abilities, and I’ll offer you this much plus whatever we make in clearing the dungeons!” Jinwoo’s eyes widened at the amount of money Yoo was offering.

It was a difficult choice. ‘I have that skill...should I test it out here?’ If the skill worked like it says it does he could take a gamble.

“Yoo, what if I told you that in a dungeon I died, left for dead by my party members. The dungeon we encountered appeared seemingly in a low ranked dungeon and when we walked in all we found was death and pain.”

The boy’s eyes widened. “Just when I thought it was over for me I woke up in a hospital, since then things have changed for me. I’ve been able to get stronger by killing monsters, you could say I’ve been leveling up.”

‘That’s how he’s gotten so strong? Wait does that mean he can get even stronger to?’

“I’m keeping my abilities hidden for a number of reasons, one being I’m not strong enough to protect myself should a group decide to capture me and seek to dissect me and figure out how this all works. Also if there are others like me, I wouldn’t want them seeking me out in a there can be only one scenario.”

“Why are you telling me this then?” He gulped nervously, scared that his powerful man may end his life after all.

“Because you regret your own weakness.”
