For people that missed it, the new UI has a floating mode for desktop since v37, or v36, I forget, but it is there. If you change settings > general > desktop ui to Floating, the UI will no longer be a sidebar, but be placed in the scene next to an Atom named MenuHolder (which gets created if it doesn't exists).

The idea for the MenuHolder is that it allows setting it in different positions around different scenes and have the UI spawn in various places, like on the cockpit for spaceship scene, or on a wall for an appartment scene, etc. The floating UI has the VR mechanics too:
- it has a watch widget/home for the UI. There is where the ui will sit by default and you can press the buttons to hide/show it and recall it to its home
- it has a snap/unsnap mechanic that allows you to unsnap the UI from its home and move it around temporarily

For people that can't see the settings at all to switch it because their monitors are too big, you can edit Saves\PluginData\Aeternum\Ae\Html\data\settings.json and replace: "stUiDesktop":"Sidebar" with "stUiDesktop":"Floating" and reload the UI.

All the settings in the new UI are global, like vam settings, you switch them once and they stay like that, you don't have to do presets or set them everytime.

FOR 4K MONITORS

First, I don't have a 4k monitor, stop griefing me please dudes. I can't just go buy one. I can't code on imagination.

You can add the HeadLightLink plugin by ky1001 which is free on the hub https://hub.virtamate.com/resources/headlightlink.13507/. If you add this to the MenuHolder atom, the UI home will follow around the monitor camera. Then go to the hub and give a good review to that plugin so that the dude doesn't quit, and keeps making plugins! It takes 5 seconds.

The floating UI was not built with this in mind and those home & snap mechanics might get in the way a bit, but you can use the settings in HeadLightLink and the settings in the ui itself to resize it and  customize it more to your liking.

You can also save a preset of MenuHolder with the position you like, and just load the preset and it will add the plugin and your custom position to it so that you don't have to do it again.

The floating UI will have a delay for performance reason though if you stick it to the camera which might be annoying, it wasn't built for that. I might revisit it that but it's not a top priority at the moment, like I said in the last post, I spent a ton of time already on the UI stuff, it's not something I can just switch around on a whim, it can break things and take a lot of time.
