2 MONTHS IN

the good

It's been way quicker than I thought it would be to figure out how to do the real crazy stuff in vam through code since January.  Gaming on VAM is quite doable and really not that hard. It's just a matter of putting in the work and not giving up at this point

the bad

making general plugins & tools for vam is slowing me down and there seems to be less interest around for VAM these days anyway. People are probably just waiting for v2 and don't expect from v1 much more than looks and assets anymore. There's lots of stuff I wanted to see in vam for a long time and now that I could do them I got carried away and started drifiting on other lanes, like the haptic plugin. It's hard not to when you're a VR & gaming enthusiast.  But I'm doing a bit of a course-correction now and will try to focus on getting my game done and making it awesome, and a bit less on making general free tools

COLORFUL MINIGAME

I'll be sharing today the plugin in the video. It's a demo mini-game thing I did as a test to figure some vam stuff out for aeternum and where i'm trying to go there:
- sounds
- creating and loading atoms through code
- advanced collision detection & triggers for better interaction
- custom UI clicks on desktop & touches in vr
- figuring out how to do a character UI
- first attempt at connecting vam models to ae citizens (building a unique identifier based on the vam model's morphs, works to some degree but I'll look into better ways to do it)

It's quite advanced for vam mods standards and I think i'm doing some things never done before in vam like highscore/best time, levels mechanics, click or touch UIs & more. It's a bit of fun but very much still just an experimental demo with a very simple puzzle so don't get your hopes too high.
