Cyrill Attakpah

im so excited im gonna vomit. GIVE ME ALL EPISODES. ALL OF THEM!!! FEED MY ADDICTION!

Todor Georgiev

Yo, Luke! I thought you dropped the new anime fan reaction thing. You are a veteran by now 😂

FlokiTheMad

Hi Luke. The anime tries to cover what it can but the novel is huge so there is a lot cut. I would recommend checking out a YT channel called AniNews. He does a great job off character and world explanations that were not covered in the anime. I would say that they are safe to watch after season 2 or 3. He also does skipped content for every episode that you can watch as you go along but that might be a lot to try and fit into your schedule. At the very least I would highly recommend watching the character explanations

Animeter

The anime skips a lot of lore and worldbuilding from the light novel. If you want to know more about the world, you should read the LN or watch some Youtube videos after finishing Overlord. There are a lot of Youtube videos explaining everything about the Overlord universe.

Tyler Rimmel

Don't be sad, there may be 54 episodes currently but there will be more seasons. The show has not finished yet

Maiv

The anime actually gives a lot of information, but for details about characters, their abilities and how Nazarick works on it's own- it's best to read the novels, that's that. There is a lot of little details that were omitted in the series to not ruin the experience that explain how certain things were in the game. For example, in the novels they gave us a map of Nazarick and character cards of both the NPCs and the guild members which was a very interesting thing to look through.

dartcp

so that you can better classify the magic system yes from 1 - 10 the people in the guild were impressed when Ainz said nabe can use level 3 magic (wow magic level 3 and at such a young age)

Hikari Ai

Your thought process is a bit too rigid. They're just using each other because it's beneficial, they aren't in any sort of alliance. It's just a 'don't get in my way' while some of their objectives align.

seansky

Mmm yeh I don’t think you will get all the answers, in this sense I think is similar to eminence in shadow, where you have to relax that clutch on wanting to know everything, and enjoy the story… there’s actually a part in second season that I feel is the weakest part of the anime and always skip those few eps when rewatching….

Patrick Jacobsen

if you want to know more about overlord (and don't have time to read the manga or light novel) there's a youtube channel called Aninews. the guy runs a series called cut content, where he talks about what the Animé changed or left out from the Manga. he has also made a video on each floor guardian, where he talks about who they are, and how strong they are.

Shiwa chan

There is a Ovelord game ala Metroidvania where you play as Clementine . Worth checking out after she stops appearing in the show. Basically tells her fate after a certain point .

Mason D

Overlord has everything - action, comedy, romance, intrigue, and even musicals.

MrGaldor123

I just recently learned that Clementine's (the crazy woman) VA is Aoi Yuuki (Madoka, Tanya, etc.)!! Didn't recognize her at all.

Steven Hardy

Clementine and Kahjiit are both members of an evil organization called Zerrernorn, its a death cult of mostly necromancers. You'll hear it come up now and again. A lot of the lore is sort of watered down for the anime. You mostly just need to have some base knowledge that the show provides in order to follow what's going on. If you want to know more there's wikis, or the LNs you can read. Keep your questions in mind; sometimes they get answered in the next episode, or sometimes two seasons later.

BynFlew

Did you know the voice actor for Clementine (crazy red head girl) is the same as Tanya from Saga of Tanya the Evil

wildhunt1973

52 episodes is about equal to the first three seasons of AoT, give or take. You can get a lot of info during that time.

Hhound42

lol. Another reactor said about the pharmacist "never trust anyone with a hentai haircut". 18:00 Want to know more lore of Nazarick? The LNs of Overlord have a data sheet in the back of each volume giving the stats of a couple of the Supreme Beings as well some of the other characters, 16 of the 18 volumes have been translated we're waiting on the author to write the last two, so you want lore? Whip out that credit card and order the books, that's what the anime is tempting you to do.

Imperium

There is some content that is skipped and some that is kind of glossed over. There is tons of lore out there but I think I would save that for afterwards to avoid spoilers. As far as magic goes the vast majority of people are limited to tier 3 magic spells and below. A caster capable of tier 3 is generally considered powerful and rare. There are however exceptions of people and or items that allow casting of higher tier spells such as that crystal they used holding a tier 7 summons of an angel. People and items like that are more of an exception than a rule. As for adventurers there are many ranks of adventurers in the world. A new adventurer starts at Copper which is where Momon (Aka Ainz) and Nabe (Aka Narberal) start their adventures. The adventurers ranks are as follows. Copper -> Iron -> Silver -> Gold -> Platinum -> Mythril -> Orichalcum -> and Adamantite. The higher the rank the stronger the adventurers are supposed to be. The royal head warrior (Gazef Stronoff) is considered to be an Adamantite warrior. When Ainz is wearing the black plate armor it basically makes him a warrior class so he is unable to cast most of his spells. He can however still use magical items which we see when he puts on a magical necklace to allow him to fly while wearing the armor a few episodes back. While adventuring as Nabe, Narberal is supposed to be emulating a third tier magic caster but she is allowed to use some 5th tier magic if things get out of hand. They still have very limited knowledge as to how strong people in the world are or if there are any other players.

Some0neElse

The anime will give you only a small portion of the information you want... and it will give it to you in small bites which can be very irritating at times but will also make you want to know even more

Solar

something about overlord is the writer loved world building, he wrote tons of lore and side stories that the anime just doesn't talk about, there's a list of over 700 spells ainz could use, there's character sheets for all of ainz's guildmates, and lots of the npc's. and even tons of items that have interesting history that the show doesn't go over. the anime is still good without any of that side info, but knowing it definitely adds more appreciation to the show. if you'r interested there's a few youtube channels dedicated to overlord lore, and the skipped content i'd recomend (AniNews) but don't browse his channel cause some video titles might be spoilers out of context, instead look up his season 1 cut content when your done with season 1.

Muligan Shinzuo

You should remember that he was not allowed to wield the sword (i dunno if ANY sword) as his skeleton self cause of class restrictions.

Ryan

interesting fact about the npc's, half of them split and support albedo getting with ainz and half of them split and support shalltear, there are a few outliers that want neither or themselves for ainz but that was the reason for nabe's explosion when questioned about being ainz's lover(since she's an avid albedo supporter)

Itto Sanzzo

There will be a not-recap movie, a teaser came out last month

Thamor

It's funny how the sus meter is always on so many, but they are always so mistaken where the sus meter should be pointed at :D

Marcio Neves

Don't worry, you will now more about those 5 sillouetes 👍

Arctic

If Luke thinks Momonga's swords are cool, just wait till he sees Berserk

Lotan

its mostly due to his Class as a spell caster which has equipment restrictions, the magically created armour he creates and wears allows him to use swords at the cost of him not been able to use almost all of his spells.

Paul

He’s given Nabe permission to use up to 5th tier if absolutely necessary.

ArtKi

18:00 (wants to know more about Overlord) There's all the info you want online. And you'll get spoilers in every paragraph. Just enjoy the show and read the wiki after s5 to get the answers you still want.

Kyle

FYI the VA for Clementine who you said sounded like your Ex is also the VA of Tanya(Saga of Tanya the Evil) and Terrible Tornado(One Punch Man).

Paul

Bukubuku Chagama created the Twin elf NPCs and had the boy dress as a girl and girl dress as a boy. The NPCs don’t understand why, so Demiurge assumes all young boys and girls are supposed to dress that way. Anything the Supreme Beings said or did is considered by the NPCs to be equivalent to gods word. Even the hatred for humans, since only inhuman skinned players were allowed to join Nazarik. The NPCs see that as humans being inferior and unworthy of joining them.

patros36

So i looked it up, it was 3 years of waiting between S1 and S2, S2 and S3 came out in the same year and then 4 years between S3 and S4 which came out in 2022. and lastly 2 years for a continuation movie, which is supposed to come out this year

cell

Exactly what I thought lol, we need to vote berserk for Patreon next…

Regill Derenge

this is the biggest problem of overlord. it always leaves you wanting MORE LORE... and unfortunately, barely provides it. I highly suggest you to read the LN

Custodio

The anime, while giving some information based on mainly context that is also shown, leaves a LOT of stuff unexplained. VERY VERY much is either skipped entirely (especially season 4 skips an entire arc that is supposed to be adapted later), extremely simplified, or not well explained in the anime. In order to obtain that information, you would have to read the Light Novel ("Overlord" by Kugane Maruyama), but even then, some information (mostly extreme details) is missing (information from japanese magazines, promotional material and so on). There IS a wiki in the fandom, however: i would not advise to look anything up without having read the Light Novel in its entirety (the fandom obviously contains MASSIVE spoilers for everything!). But since that's not really something you can make into content, aside from just reading it for yourself, i would have another suggestion: the youtube-channel "aninews" has a boatload of videos about overlord (and many other anime-adaptions as well), that goes over a LOT of stuff that has been cut from the anime, explanations to confusing stuff that is badly explained in the adaption and so on, including multiple videos about basically every shown NPC (many even have a "supercut"-version with all videos combined). I would absolutely suggest to react to those videos once you are done with the anime, there's so much to learn, it´s mindblowing.

Niko He

The anime Overlord doesn´t actually cover everything from the novel, which leads to plot holes if you´re just going with the anime only. I recommend watching the Overlord videos from the channel AniNews on YT, since he explains everything left out in the anime such as stuff out of Yggdrasil as well as the world our mc lived in before.

Paul

The movies so far have been recap movies. There is a movie coming out soon which isn’t a recap. It covers the Holy Kingdom Arc.

Beowolf Chow

You hit the nail on the head, that feeling of missing your old comrades, your old gaming buddies, missing the simple fun and good memories; THAT is what makes Ainz such a relatable and enjoyable character. Here he is, roleplaying an evil Overlord, and as a vacation he roleplays a badass warrior, but at his core, he just misses his friends and wants to recapture a little bit of what he lost, while protecting the little of their legacy he still has. This show is light, it is dark; it is happy, funny, and tragic. Enjoy the ride. :)

nordiclight

If you want to check out more about each episode or character the channel Aninews has a great cut content series on youtube that explain stuff that didn't make it from the light novels. They also have a series explaining more lore and the power scaling of each major character but it has spoilers so watch that after you're done with the series.

Abe J

Confirmed, UK bedroom talk is... weird. "Turtle time baby!"

Cubbi

I think the simplest explanation for your confusion throughout this series is to not view it as an Isekai, but a DOUBLE isekai! The main character is from Earth, our world, and was Isekai'd elsewhere-- AND the video game he played was ALSO transported! The NPCs were Isekaied with him!! Two worlds moved into a third world, at the same time. So this story has 3 layers to focus on: 1. The player's experiences with the game he grew up playing, the companions he's lost since the game fell out of fashion as well as adjusting to this new world alongside what were once just NPCs. 2. The NPCs experiences being Isekai'd, knowing they've lost their "creators" (players), and grasping the fact that they've been given newfound freedom of thought and actions, while also hoping to adhere to the very thing they were created to do 3. The WORLD they've been transported in!! The 13 heroes of the world, the different countries, the guilds, how magic functions here, the different factions and their goals/motives You'll have to juggle all 3 separate concepts, and see how they all influence each other and impact the way of the story throughout Overlord.

ShonTheRabbit

so much lore, you could almost call it OverLOREd

Rave Recage

You can watch Aninews Overlord skipped content videos if you want to get almost all the questions answered.

Reennji

If you haven't played an MMORPG, it would be a good time to give it a try. WoW or FF14 are the biggest ones and they are the most similar to Overlord.

Dennis Broer

I think there is a movie on its way and then the continuation of the anime.

Zigawits

The light novels created character sheets for most of the characters so if you just want to see what abilities and the stats everyone has you can look those up online. To hear more about the lore and more in depth stuff I would suggest watching the videos on Aninews youtube channel or if you have the time, read the light novels

Ah damn Luke... Now i am scared of your ex, without even knowing her. 😂😂

Antoine Jones

he doesnt know its not a video game he just knows its not HIS video game

Robert Preston

About The movie on the way the time it takes place is in the middle of the last season that aired

Antoine Jones

Also i disagree with overlord being better every season.... the latest season was boring as crap and nothing really happened/felt like filler compared to what came before it

Frentzy

Luke on Overlord: "Oh someone wanna kill the whole city and become immortal? that's quite dark damn!" Luke on Konosuba: "Oh someone wanna kill the whole city and become immortal? HAHA that's funny haha XD" Classic isekai plot, MC is in same city as evil dude who plan for years to destroy the city 💀. 9/10 show but depending the angle you watch it can be quite funny.

The Large Amoeba

If you want more info your best bet is to read the Light Novels. Course then you'll get the displeasure of learning what Demiurge's "Happy Human Farm" is....

Cerivex

Understandable that you are pissed off. Only 52 episodes.... they couldve made overlord as big as My hero academia or smth. Like double the episodes just to give more lore and explain more and all. But its just so good, the lore just drags you in. I have never ever looked up as much stuff about anything else, i constantly inform myself of new overlord stuff and more details and more lore... also overlord... is basically the game of thrones of anime. In my opinion at least, especially from season 2 onward with all the different characters and perspectives and everything. Youll enjoy it ^^

Kintor

Without spoiling anything I feel that season 4 is a satisfying midpoint in the story. As much I always want more Overlord. Even if the rest of the light novels never get adapted, watching the existing 52 episodes (plus the upcoming movie) should feel like a relatively complete experience.

Crunchy Potato

Looking back, I never really found this anime to be that dark. It was pretty light and fun, almost comparable to Slime. But I was pretty desynthesized cause I was already used to dark themes... But then again... Full Metal Alchemist was my childhood...

Animeter

But the old and new anime adaptations of berserk are both dog shit. He should read the manga

Dethrox

just to ''hear'' a season 4 is a midpoint.. pains me.. :D like cmon :// we are getting one more season right ? or is the movie the end.. ? :(

zsolt juhász

on magic, 1-10th tier, magic above 10th tier are counts as skills without mana consumption, highest tier in magic is 5th level spells for humanity.

Dethrox

do he know ?? :D who Clementine VA is ?? :D i though he was about to say and then he mention his ex.. xD nothing wrong with that, it was a nice reaction but do he ?? :D

Kintor

The movie actually covers an extra story arc they couldn't fit into season 4. Kind of a side story in terms of progression but still fun. As for season 5? No idea yet. The hope right now is that they will make an announcement after the movie is released.

Russell Gambardella

Also, I mentioned this in a previous vid but you should check out the novels if you want more details. Perhaps reading at the same pace as you record would be a great way to supplement your curiosity about more lore/details/monologue of Momonga without spoiling any future events. Although if you do this, the anime oddly skips the Holy Kingdom Arc in which they are releasing a movie for, so just beware of that.

gobi_no_inu90

So out of there medias for Overload, (Anime, Manga, and Light Novel) the Anime is the least lore heavy. But I'm sure someone in the comments will probably try to answer the skipped parts. Of course if you ever have the time, the Light Novels are the most lore heavy.

BRUNO Marques

Careful doing this. Some characters have more than 1 stat sheet for story reasons.

Kveykva

my best guess for why overlord is so short/missing so much content is because when it was first slated for an anime adaptation, it wasn't as popular as others and had a lower budget. it got a huge bump in popularity recently when the 4th season came out, and the movie is set to release this year as well. i won't be a broken record and tell you to look into the light novels if you want more lore, but one of the biggest draws (for me) is how developed all aspects of the different worlds are. ainz's earth has a ridiculous amount of worldbuilding for something that (as far as i'm aware) has zero relevance to the fantasy world. YGGDRASIL is also exceptionally well-developed, and numerous aspects of the game were imprinted onto the fantasy world when the isekai shenanigans happened. then, of course, there's the fantasy world itself and its history with different factions, legendary figures like the 13 heroes, and major historical events that all get touched on as the series progresses. i don't watch too much anime, and isekai is a genre i want to appreciate but do less so, because i personally don't care for cheekiness. but overlord is one that absolutely hooked me because of how much there is to enjoy

Beowolf Chow

Luke is right, everyone needs a girl like Albedo... and then they need a restraining order.

Hououin Kyouma

I don't understand how you even suspect it not being a dark anime. The main character is an undead skeleton and the title of the anime is Overlord. Without even watching the anime I knew it would be a dark anime when I first watched it. Also considering you like shows like GoT, The Boys etc how do you not suspect one of the most recommended anime from your viewers would not be something dark? Anyway, after watching season 1 I started reading the light novel and fell in love with the series. Things are explained much more in detail in the light novel. If you ever wanna read a light novel this is one of them I can highly recommend.

Valrenas

Some isekai protagonists have a really interesting backstory. Makoto from Tsukimichi is an extreme example of that, with his past training, childhood illness and recovery and not quite sociopathic tendencies... There's the main character of the newer anime, My Instant Death Ability is OP, but his is way more than just backstory, in the novels his life in Japan gets sprinkled in throughout the series. Myne from Ascendance of a Bookworm is more simple, but still interesting. Most of the things she invents in her new life are things she learned when her mom took her to random crafting classes, like basket weaving, natural soaps and shampoo, hair ornaments and things.

Ashe

Can't wait for the upcoming episodes

Bryan Wells

Bro you got to stop calling the maid's concubines dude that's so cursed

coach taeyeon

I'll never forgive how many times you've blue-balled me on that ending song. You always stop at such a good part Q_Q. Either stop it before or stop after, I beg of you.

Stefan

Elsa Overlord style (though not sexy, not even her name). Poor Momon san, Nabe needs to resuscitate the boss, too bad Albedo is not here. Demiurge must be so familiar with Albedo’s craziness, otherwise he couldn’t be that serious😂

Overlord_Ashalon

There are 2 faction within the Tomb 1 is for Albedo and the other is for Shalltear Naberal Gamma is in the Albedo faction.

Overlord_Ashalon

Levels do exist in this world. Gazef for instance was around level 30 if I remember correctly. Most people just don't level because any fight could be their last.

Overlord_Ashalon

The Black Knight had 4 swords (and 4 arms if I remember correctly) those are the Swords of Darkness.

Overlord_Ashalon

Naberal Gamma is a mimic (I forget the actual race name) but can't shape-shift for reasons I forget.

Overlord_Ashalon

Clementine is my second favorite villain in this series. Ains is my favorite.

Overlord_Ashalon

Clementine is on the run from the Slane Theocracy (whom she used to work for as the ninth seat of the Black Scripture) because she stole one of their relics (the Crown of Wisdom). She's helping Kahj so that she can cover her tracks and escape when he turns E-Rantel into a city of the dead. The 2 are part of the same cult as well, but that doesn't mean they get along, mostly because Clementine is completely and utterly insane.

Overlord_Ashalon

The theatrical movie covers ones of the books and falls somewhere in the middle of season 4, but I think the OVA movies are just the seasons condensed down more than they already are. This "Overlord: Holy Kingdom Arc" is the movie that you need to watch.

Tom Boggess

nepheria is a mucho gusto good boy

Martin Snow

Man, this anime would be rated NC-17 if they didn’t cut practically all of the Demiurge content from the novels. Dudes true evil. Need proof, look up the “Happy Farm”

Technosage

I can fix her trust me

Marc Lucksch

If you really want answers, hit me up on discord.. The anime leaves a bunch of questions open, but does answer the most important ones.

AngryCanadian

"swing his big skeleton donger around" is not a phrase I thought I would hear today but here we are
