Digimon is like 80% of my childhood, I was such a super fan of especially the Adventure series and Tamers, and Digimon Savers/Data Squad was a guilty pleasure of mine despite what everyone else says about it.

Jay Chen

I recommend reacting to detective conan ops that have like 50+ and its still on-going. One of the longest animes out there

Animeguy1101

Here’s a playlist with the openings you didn’t include if you do a part 2 https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlHvRFmrcTI9o6BQf_aR9gDRrlUiKZX6P&si=tgC4ZsoX57P7_R0c

Spikà

Digimon! Let's GOOOOOOO!!

KeanuofRivia

So Digimon has a bunch of different generations of Digimon tamers so that's why there's so many different people characters in this. Digimon Tri finally brought back the original kids and Digimon after a time skip and told a new story. After Tri they fully remade the original and made another movie taking place after Tri

KeanuofRivia

Also please react to Gundam 00 openings and endings!!! They're probably the best set in all of Gundam

Kyla

I stopped watching digimon after the epic xross wars finale ^^

freshyjazzy12 .

I forever hold the opinion of Tamers being the best season, it had the most adult themes despite being Digimon and handled them incredibly well with the characters. It also doesn't help that Guilmon is my favorite so I might be a bit bias lmao Data Squad was also top tier just because of having a MC that PUNCHES Digimon and doesn't care.

Eliana

Me realizing I'm older than Luke, because everything Digimon related is very clear in my memory

ChosenxShadow

Should absolutely react to the digimon English versions of the openings

Tatersalad666

Recommending March Comes in Like a Lion endings, and Girls Last Tour and A Place Further than the Universe for an OP/ED reaction.

Godzy Lasserre

Will you do a reaction to the Japanese openings of Pokemon as well ?

Anonymous

Digimon did air here in the UK! I used to watch it all the time growing up on Fox Kids, and later Jetix!

Anonymous

Digimon Adventure was the very first anime I ever watched back in 2000! Very much so a childhood core memory

Anonymous

The digimon theme song. You are referring to at the end of your video. Is the four kids version that aired in the us.

Kytsunix

The “Digimon Digital Monsters Digimon are the champions!” thing was in the english version Most of these are separated series, that is why the protagonist groups are so different Which, by the way, you missed the most recente ones: Digimon Adventure (2020) and Digimon Ghost Game

Spikà

The 3rd opening of Xros Wars is probably my favorite (besides Butterfly Of course). And Tamers is such a banger!

Pale

Fun fact about the Digimon lore that is never directly said, in the show canon there are different universes, that's why there are always differences which each piece of media from the franchise. Now, since each iteration of Digimon happens on an alternate universe that means that everything related to Digimon happens in canon, which means that the cameo of Tekken characters on a Digimon game made all of the Tekken games canon on the Digimon franchise.

Sean Mcguinness

Do the English OP's! They are great also! Oh, and you missed the next OP's for "Digimon Ghost Game"

Juan Contreras

I loved this show much specially it showed the OG grow up and pass the baton to new generation. I grew up with the Spanish audio

S0ulSp4de

Man, such a big part of my childhood. Always the discussions what is better: Pokemon or Digimon. In the end most of my friends could agree that Pokemon had the better games...but anime and music was always Digimon superior. Still own the cds from Adventure, Adventure 02 and Tamers and love hearing them.

FaerieRose

Day 2 of requesting that Ascendance of a Bookworm follow Vinland Saga. You still haven’t seen an isekai with a female protagonist (originally female. Tanya was a guy in their first life.)

titofox

I do really recommend the show (in japanese OF COURSE) it's so good for a "kids" show, specially Tamers which can get really dark

Master - KILLUA

He should react to the 6 Digimon TRI movies, they're the continuation of the first Digimon 🐐

Flutter0Shy

I remember watching the first Digimon for my first time like... 3 years ago. Lol, I was about to continue the "second" in the list but for some reason like always I never continued to watch it like with other shows with a season 2. Funny enough, that US opening was foreign to me too until I remember having watched a movie that was fully in japanese but they put that song as their opening, now that I remember it I am like "whaaaat?"

FaerieRose

Me realizing how much older I am than Luke, because I had aged out of the series’ target demographic by the time Digimon aired. Not that I cared.

Tatersalad666

Ascendance of a Bookworm is not just an isekai with a female protagonist. It is the best written, with some of the deepest lore and world building, and the fact that the MC is a woman and from another world is integral to the story. The story would not work nearly as well if she was a guy.

Daithirian

So lore is a bit of a multiverse here with Digimon. Only the first two openings and the Adventure Tri opening at the end are in the same continuity normally. Every character you saw in the movie back in 2000 was from the first two seasons. And the movie itself was a collection of short films from those series. After the second season though came Tamers which treated the previous seasons as if they were a show in it’s own world. And then pretty much most seasons onward had their own continuity Xros Wars or Fusion was three seasons long ending it on an anniversary year where they had each of the main hero kids cross over in a huge world ending Avengers Endgame like episode. But where you ended was the revival of the original series in Digimon Adventure Tri, a series of movies that showed the original cast as young adults. There are more openings that you didn’t get here at least one more for App Monsters, one for the Adventure: (2020), and the opening for Digimon Ghost Game

Mariokempes

You skipped best Digimon opening from Digimon Adventure 2020. Never watched Digimon as a kid and this op made me want to watch it. You have to check this op https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2k7GMelJNu0 On this site you have it in better quality: https://themes.moe/list/search/digimon%20adventure:

Eric burton

Please react to yu yu hakusho op and end

Kevin

fyi, all these openings are not for different seasons of the same show. Except e.g. for the first two "Adventure", "Adventure 02" and later "Adventure Tri", the others are mostly different shows with a different cast.

brotato 96

So they basically Pulled a DC Marvel approach? When you have too many seasons milking a franchise and all of them don't add together just say Multiverse lol.

brotato 96

Luke Just saying you let your YT revenue showing at 3:03, might wanna edit that out idk all youtubers seem to want to hide it.

IvanBV

Nostalgia is holding your tears when youtube randomly decides to show you for first time the trailer of digimon tri on 2015. Damn..I didn't even remember to like the original series so much but I was fangirling a lot when I saw the trailer.

Kyle Garrett

In the 90's all anime openings were replaced in the West, since for whatever reason the people bringing anime to the west thought 1) all anime was for kids and 2) no one would like an opening song not in their native language. So pretty much every anime had new opening songs, and the Digirap that you remember is one of those things they just made up to fit the animations. Personally I really liked some of those EN openings. For example I think the digirap you're thinking of, as well as the yugioh! opening are both fantastic, though the Jp digimon opening (butterfly) is loved by a lot of people.

Crome18

Funny thing is, Germany has most of these OPs in german and they are in my opinion even better then the English/Japanese versions Id recommend a reaction for them.

Shinya

That was fun😂 unlocking core memories ! Most of these are actually unrelated, only few are connected story wise (like #1 and #2 - the last OP is connected to the first ones too).- the only connecting element are the concept of „evolving digimons“.

Sol-Edge

Digimon is one of my favorite shows I watched when I was a kid next to Pokemon

ModernHog

I'm not a Digimon guy, but these openings are so good!! On a similar-ish note, I'd love to see you react to the Japanese Yugioh openings some day! I would pop off so hard if you did that! If you do though, I'd recommend avoiding the official playlist of the openings, as some of them are skipped in that. For some reason. But either way, it'd still be cool for you to react to them!

Soulseller33

For the Digimon Tri Opening (the last one on your list) there is a special version the cast was singing. Its REALLY good Highly recommend you react to that as well: on youtube its called: OPENING DIGIMON ALL CAST VERSION「Butterfly」Full It has much more impact and is really awesome

Soulseller33

mmh german version are pretty close to the orignal, thats why. For me the german version is more nostalgia but overall i prefer the japanese one. Specially with digimon tri.

TheWhiteWolves

Thats cos alot of youtubers like to plead poverty while being pretty wealthy, that why they seem more "relatable" to the viewer. Patreon contributes the most to luke afaik with all the copyright claims videos get on youtube

S0ulSp4de

In favor of this, but I don't know if he likes a calm show as that. So, yeah, would love to see a reaction to my favorite LN show but I don't know if G.O.T is up for it. :-/

Hawk of Battle

Luke what are you talking about, Digimon was totally on tv here in the uk! The first 2 seasons of Adventure were on CITV like every day and the rest was on Fox Kids. The reason it feels like different shows is because it basically is; the first 2 seasons were Digimon Adventure, which was set in the same universe with a timeskip between seasons to introduce a new main cast, but the original characters were still heavily involved. After that came Digimon Tamers, which was set in an alt universe. Then came Frontier, which had characters turning into Digimon instead of the usual human/digimon partners working together. After that I think it goes Data Squad, then Fusion/Xros wars (I think?), then Universe, again, all different universes. I don't really know these ones, never watched them. Then came Tri, which was the 3rd season of the original show, with another timeskip, which is why you started recognizing them all again. We have mixed opinions on Tri... I think we also recently had a remake or some such of the original series as well. All of them also had a bunch of movies too. It gets quite bloated. And yes, the digi-rap song you remember was the english version of the intro. Anime back in the day used to get localized intros.

Manie Gudak

So yeah, you ended up missing 2 openings, which are the 2020 Digimon adventure Remake(They redid the first season with new plot and animation) and the series that ran after that is Digimon Ghost game. As for your confusion, the first and second show Digimon Adventure and Adventure 02 are linked, they both have plots that make up the digimon movie from the 2000. After the 3rd opening Digimon Tamers, each series started to be it's own thing following some rules but they normally play very different from each other and are not connected. the last opening you saw was for the Digimon Tri movies, Digimon Tri is an Series of movies that follow up the original series years after with an grow up crew in their high school days, it's a mixed bag of movies that tried to use nostalgia as a main factor but are quite bad on the plot, but we got redemption after with the Digimon Kizuna movie that came a time after tri ended, which did what tri tried but way better

DarkMorwind

Digimon is one of the only anime i would watch with german synchro just because of nostalgia and the german versions of the digimon openings and soundtracks are just amazing!

Digiflash

I can feel it guys, Pokémon is near :D

Puraido Eustass

I grew up with Digimon and it is still one of the only anime that I'm only able to watch in German. Whenever I try the Japanese version, it sounds so weird to me. Probably because I grew up with it in German. I don't dislike the Japanese Openings, but here too, German is better xD Don't know about English, though. Also, in terms of how much I like the different seasons Season 3, Season 1, Season 2 and Season 4. Never watched the newer ones and only watched three or four of the Digimon Tri movies.

RandomDutchDude

Please react to all of the Pokemon Openings as well.

Anonymous

Looks and sounds great. Huge nostalgia factor. I feel like you should react to all the english openings as well though. All bangers as well. Keep up the great work.

William Armstrong

22:10 The "Digimon, Digital Monsters" opening you are remembering is the English opening/ theme song and it is an absolute banger. Also, the original Digimon show and the movie holds up very well to this day. Even though it is a "kids show"

Kintor

He should probably go back and rewatch at least seasons 1 and 2 to refresh his memory first. Of course, at roughly 50 episodes per season I understand that's a huge time commitment.

Kintor

Going through all the openings like this just highlight the fact that Digimon has always had a really strong soundtrack. Even the Saban Dub put an insane amount of effort into it's own music. Hell, the album for Digimon the Movie is now regarded as an iconic time capsule of late-90s early-2000s music in its own right. On that note, I personally think that the later Xros Wars/Fusion Battles era was a high-water mark for Digimon music in general. So many more openings and endings then normal, several vocal themes for major characters, along with a vastly expanded soundtrack. Xros Wars was the return of Digimon as a major force after years in relative obscurity and Toei really went all out on the production values.

Subaru130

Yeah, Xros Wars has some of my favorite themes in the whole series. I love that one of Shoutmon's side/intermediary forms, X4B, even got its own theme, and it's one of the best ones. My favorite is X5's theme. Every now and them, I find myself humming, "Burning on! Burner on! Buddy on!"

Subaru130

As someone that's still a huge fan of and keeps up to date with Digimon, this was a lot of fun. I always love that sequence during the second Xros Wars opening where they just flex the crazy amount of forms that Shoutmon has, and it's not even all of them. Don't know if it's enough that you'd want to do another video, but I'm pretty sure this one's missing three openings, the second Appmon OP, the Adventure reboot OP, and the Ghost Game OP.

Chyro Nighthowler

Yeah, the characters fully change between most seasons - though not always. Season 1 - the original kids. Season 2 - new generation of kids, but the originals show up again but are older. Though the two youngest of the original kids are part of the main cast. Season 3 Tamers - fully new cast. They use cards to evolve and enhance their digimon. Season 4 Frontiers - fully new cast. They transform into digimon themselves instead of having partners. Season 5 Data Squad - fully new cast. Bit older main characters compared to previous seasons. Season 6 Xros Wars - dunno if this is multiple seasons, haven't watched it. But seems to have continuity with the main cast of chars across its openings. Season 7 .. dunno anything about it. The last opening - Adventure Tri. It's a remake of the original series, season 1 with a new artstyle but the original kids as the cast. The opening song is the same as for season 1, but a remix.

Lexi

I guess Digimon has always had boobs to some extent. Angewomon, Ladydevilmon... Fairymon is essentially wearing lingerie. Almost any time a female coded Digimon exists, they eventually get a human form so they can be sexualized to varying extents. Xros Wars's animation makes it even more obvious. I'm not generally a fan of when anime and games do the whole, "Okay so this is the male of the wolfman race. He's basically a giant, scary wolf man. The females? Oh, they're cute little human looking girls with wolf ears and a tail, and they all wear dog collars." Maybe that's why I liked Piyomon best as a kid. She was female coded, but her higher evolutions were like...a buff bird dude and a four winged phoenix (yeah I know it's more of a fènghuáng/ho-oh), which was pretty rad compared to, say, the BDSM rose the other girl got. Lilymon was okay, though.

Kintor

X4B - The Guardian is one of my favourites as well. Along with Blazing Blue Flare. Plus a special mention to Tageru Power from the Young Hunters arc.

MerabuHalcyon

God I've been waiting for this video! Digimon was my wheelhouse back in the day. Openings 1 and 2 are the original Digmon Adventure 1 and 2 with the same cast plus a few new ones. This is THE main timeline that everyone grew up with and remembers fondly. Opening 3 is Digimon Tamers, the first spinoff series but was really well made. Opening 4, Digimon Frontier, was where the series went a little weird but not in a bad way. The main cast were able to transform into ancient Digimon warriors to stop the main baddie. After this bit until Tri my knowledge falls off but I know the main beats. Opening 5 is Data Squad which I heard was good just everyone at the time liked to compare it to the OG which it could never compete with. Opening 6-8 are all Digimon Xros Wars (Cross wars? translation help!) which was a longer running Digimon show that had a heavy emphasis on it's darker and more drawn out story, lasting several seasons hence the mulitple ops. It dealt with a whole Digimon War with lots of factions. Opening 9 is Digimon Universe, a show until this video, I'd forgotten existed. Opening 10 is Digimon Adventure Tri, the six-part movie series they made as an anniversary thing to continue the original Adventure series. They then followed that up with a movie, Last Evolution Kizuna which was the ultimate finale to the Digimon Adventure storyline. Very good, VERY BITTERSWEET!!! There is ANOTHER opening not in that list, the one for the 2020s reboot of Digimon Adventure. That being said, in my opinion, the BEST Digimon song that you should listen to (outside coming back and doing the English OPs) is the ALL-CAST version of Butter-fly (Adventure and Adventure Tri's OP) it was the LAST time the entire crew of the original cast and music team were together as sadly Butter-fly's creator and main singer Koji Wada passed away shortly after Tri was complete. Listening to them all sing and put their passion for this series was the highlight of its legacy.

Matthew Nichols

Digimon would be a solid addition to the "long anime series" lineup, a lot of the seasons still hold up today (especially considering they're isekai and reverse-isekai from way before the trend took off). Most of the movies are also fantastic; if you weren't aware, the English Digimon movie was actually an amalgamation of 3 different and much shorter movies that they smooshed together to try and create a storyline that connected them somehow. I don't think it worked very well and all 3 movies are better separate than together but, I tell you what, the English movie's soundtrack is a great nostalgic late-90s Pop collection so it has that at least.

Aqua no Kiseki

Need to do the english version of Frontier, literally one of the best openings ever.

StrykerEvol

Oh the Nostalgia... I grew up with the German Version of Digimon. Too bad the video you watched didn't have the last 3 Openings. Digimon Universe had a 2nd one, then 1 opening for the Digimon Adventure 2020 REBOOT series and 1 opening for Digimon Ghost Game. Also. Digimon Tri was an 6 part OVA.

StrykerEvol

Shout(mon)out to all the Digimon fans out there!

StrykerEvol

Xros Wars and Frontier are such underrated Digimon anime... The only one i wasn't as much of a fan of was Universe.

StrykerEvol

Fun Fact: If you add together every individual Digimon series and it's seasons, you get a total of exactly 519 episodes at the moment. Plus 7 OVAs (Kizuna is considered an OVA in Japan) and 3 Movies. That's not close to One Piece level, but still a huge number.

ZckFox

I grew up in the prime time of Digimon Adventure season 1 & 2, as well as Tamers. By the time Frontier came out I completely fell off as I didn’t care about the characters and I wasn’t really a fan of them not having Digimon partner. I came across Data Squad while in college, got invested, and binged it all over the course of a week. Season 1 of Adventure will always have so much nostalgia since it was the first one I watched, but Tamers is my favourite.

ZckFox

He should probably actually watch the Adventure TV series. He said he only ever watched the 2000 movie which doesn’t really do series justice as a standalone movie.

ZckFox

I mean, it’s not clear in Luke’s memory because he never watched the tv show, he said he only saw the movie. That’s like saying you’ve watched Star Trek but have only seen Wrath of Khan.

Anna

I also grew up with Digimon and watched the episode every day after school. I think it would be cool to watch this anime as another long series one :D

Connor Hennessy

All Pokemon OPs, let's do iiiiit

ShironJackal

15:50 MY REACTION EXACTLY! THIS IS MY FAVORITE DIGIMON OPENING!!! (will now continue to see if you enjoyed it as much as I do)

CurseMark4Life

I would love to see a reaction to the Digimon english openings to compare to these. The music is a million times better imo.

Suichoku

You should check out Brave Heart OST from Digimon, it is one of the all time bests. Such a beloved song

Anonymous

I love Digimon! Maybe even more than Pokemon (though I loved Pokemon! I even had the VHS 😅). But I only watched until the end of Digimon 03 after that, I had to focus on school and never got back into it 😅 also...I've never heard either the OG Japanese or the English OPs. The show aired here in Portugal in one of the kids' channels, so me and my friends only watched the European Portuguese version...and I know every lyric of it 20 years later😅🤣

yuzu hibiki

Please react to ALL of world trigger's OP AND ED

yuzu hibiki

Although i only heard the japanese version of the first opening when i was older. it still gives a huge nostalgia feel.

ForEverAlone

I recommend openings from 2 old animes: Asura Cryin' and Shakugan No Shana - I can neither say if they're bad nor if they're good animes, since I watched them very early on, but I listen to the openings a lot and imo they're pretty good.

AchmodinIV SWE

I watched like 5 episodes of the digimon anime on a VHS when I was a kid. I don’t know which episodes it was but they never were in the real world in those episodes I watched, so I never knew they were in a digital world. And in one of the episodes one of the digimons evolved and there were a guy in a white van after they defeated the enemy.

Andy Hinton

The last opening was for Digimon Adventure Tri its a six movie series that basically ended the original characters story in the Digimon universe. The song was a updated version of the og Japanese op.

Andy Hinton

React to the western original opening also

Andy Hinton

React to all of the yugioh openings both western and Japanese

Anonymous

It's funny to know these songs only in german and sing the german lyrics while listening to this

Phyllis

My honest opinion: The Digimon English songs sucks. I was so glad that was not my nostalgia song and I grew up with the real Japanese opening song for Digimon Adventures. The first 2 and last song you heard is from the original series Digimon ADVENTURES 01, 02 and Tri. 01 released in 1999, 02 in 2000 and after 20 years Tri was released in 2020. The first Digimon song in Digimon Adventure 01 called Butterfly was then after 20 years rearranged and used as it's opening for their 20 years anniversary Digimon Adventure Tri. The Digimon series is not all the same. You can differentiate by their title name. It's like they have different timeline and universe very much like Power Rangers. To tell the differences: Digimon ADVENTURE, Digimon TAMERS, Digimon FRONTIER, Digimon SAVERS, Digimon XROS WARS and Digimon UNIVERSE-APP MONSTERS.

Draiguu

I would REALLY love it when Luke would hear the german versions even if it isnt on video or on stream.

Daniel Thunberg

Usually the humanshaped female digimon have boobs in some way. You are missing Digimon Ghost Game op - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qO5E5De0Atw

NikoCat11

You should TOTALLY do a watch party for the digimon movie again, these movies are still insane in today's standards, you be blissed :D I also had the yellow one toy lol And you probably also got the red one from season 3, those ones one pretty famous, I remember as if it was yesterday :')

StrykerEvol

I support that notion. The German openings do pack quiet a punch. And Frank Schindel, the singer, has such a good voice.

Fusssel

hm, a back to childhood reaction? doing some digimon reactions? :D Also, Digimon wasn't in the UK? We even had it in Germany

Omegawolflion

Don't worry, not even Digimon fans understand the lore of Digimon

Mr. Dog

I understand Luke's pain. The fact that parents give away your old toys as you grow older. My parents gave away all my old legos, and ninja turtle toys from the 1980s and 1990s. I'm bummed about it. I really am. As for nostalgia I for some reason passed on watching Digimon religiously because it always aired during the time I had to get ready for school in 1999 and the only other channel it was on was the sci-fi channel where it was called anime-hour (I think. I can't remember as my memory is fuzzy). Digmon only came on once a month so I only saw about half of digimon adventures. And by the time season 1 ended I entered high school and didn't have time for it. But i do remember trying to chose to watch digimon over pokemon.

Kian Brüsselbach

Okay some things about this, first of all, there are two more openings at least, one for the 2020 reboot and one for digimon ghost game. And the thing you sang is real but it's just a thing for the American dub, every other dub I know of just used the original song and translated it, might be interesting to do react both to the English one and the one of different languages (just because the german one is just one of the most nostalgic things ever for me

Sakomi Arorim

bit late but Digimon Adventure Tri is not the remake of the original (that one is instead called Digimon Adventure 2020) but is a continuation set after Digimon 02

kloos

I am from Chile, and the Spanish Latin American Versions are known by everyone here. I just felt nostalgic every time I hear them, these are such good openings in Spanish, the translation team did an amazing job with the Openings.

2024-04-08 20:40:26 Digimon Frontier (the 4th in the franchise), I really like that one. While most series, the tamers have a partner, they use this thing called Digi-Spirits to digivolve and fight. That is to say, they are really the one fighting it and if they die, they really die. It felt more surreal where these kids have to stake their lives in a world they never knew about.
