Hard pass for me

Skeletan

Christ what horrid subs. You're already uploading the full movie elsewhere (Patreon), i.e distributing an illegal copy, so why not just torrent an actually good version and save all us the headache, you included

Ononoki

Homura did nothing wrong.

Eliana

It feels like the subtitles were AI generated or something like this

Ibaraki

omg i freaking love this movie, btw homura did nothing wrong ;)

Von Yoosten

It's because of Instances like this that Piracy should be an Option for you sometimes...

MrGaldor123

These subs were really funny, sometimes :D But maybe rewatch the movie with proper subs sometime.

Keith Merrington

The problem was that the movie wasn't sourced until the actual stream - so a better version could not be found in time. Preparation is key.

Sorcerer

I took me a while to like this movie. I had to rewatch it. Now I'm on board. Glad you saw it. Now you are in the dark like the rest of us.

Victoria Pritchard

I like villains more than heroes sometimes, the hero will sacrifice everything to save the world but the villain will sacrifice the world to save those they care about.

Mihaly Szamak

Good thing I watched this movie so many times I didn't need the subs. But what killed me the most was your confused squinting while Homura rewrote the laws of the universe. That was actually priceless! Great reaction.

Von Yoosten

WHY DIDN'T HE WATCH THE OFFICIAL MOVIE 4 TRAILER? Why did he deliberately choose one with auto generated subs when there literally is an english Trailer?!

Von Yoosten

I'm through with it now and I've calmed about the Subs. They were so bad they were funny again at least. But again, it doesn't help to have bad Translations for a Movie that's confusing enough on its own. Some Scenes were really unfortunate and I think the "Stupidity" of the Subs broke the Immersion a little. Also I really hoped you wouldn't watch this on Stream. Stream always pulls your Attention away and makes you pause less. I would have loved to hear more Theory Crafting in-between, but again that was pretty much impossible because the Subs made it hard for you to trust any Info you were given... Overall very disappointing. I had waited so long for this Video and had such high Hopes, but this is probably inevitably one of the worst Reactions on your Channel for me. At least in Comparison to the Hype I had for it :/ Didn't help how long you waited between the Series and the Movie. You forget Details so quickly, so it would have helped to freshen the Context.

Homura did nothing wrong

Baker

Exactly this. Well written villains are more grounded in their emotions and understanding of the world than a hero is, which in turn makes them more relatable to how we understand our world and it's cruelty. It makes us think about things in our reality more. The grey morality that is life is something not every hero has and sometimes heroes will defy the logic and status quo just because their ideal is more noble in theory. Which is all well and good but I've always found it contrived and whimsical to the point that when I walk away from the story (even after enjoying it) that it doesn't leave me with a lasting impression or thoughts. Also villains most of the time are more badass, I mean Sith>Jedi all day everyday even on a holiday lol

Szayel H

Re-watching the movie with proper subs is a must for you now. Also I would HEAVILY recommend you go back and watch the other 2 movies before you do. You missed LOTS of details and things explained in the anime so refreshing your memory with a new format would be ideal. The movies aside from recapping the series, has improved quality in every aspect so hope you understand and get up to date before the next movie comes out this year

StrykerEvol

I don't think they were using drugs to create this movie. I am more inclined to believe, that someone just read the original bible and some of H.P. Lovecrafts horror fictions. Maybe after visiting the Louvre... Both are great works of fiction btw and definitely a recommendation. Especially Lovecraft's "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath". One of my favorites.

StrykerEvol

I am convinced that, even with proper subtitles, Luke would have still been in full confusion mode throughout the whole movie non less.

Knight66

Are you gonna watch madoka side story Series

Timmo Warner

Haha, glad I was forewarned about the subtitles in the comments here. I think I'll be able to enjoy them for the amusing properties. I would have been caught more off guard if I had seen it live! I did catch the end of the stream and hope on your own you maybe enjoy the movie a bit more without the subs making it even stranger. Edited to add: Ha, this is hilarious so far with Comrade Homura joining the class. It'll be a good reaction. =o)

From what I got out of it: At the end of the series, Madoka became god. She has to come and take all the suffering and despair and pain away from every magical girl, right before they turn into a witch. Thus there are no witches, only nightmares in the world. But Homura wished to save Madoka, it's the wish she made to become a magical girl. And having to take all the world's pain and suffering into herself? Never getting to be a normal girl with her friends and family? She hasn't been saved yet. So Homura tells Kyubey about the old world. Kyubey goes, "Well shit, witches sound like a WAAAAAY better power source than this piddling little nightmare stuff" and sticks Homura in a cell away from the universe to try and make a witch and see what it does. Homura starts turning into a witch but Madoka can't come get her. Homura drags Madoka into the cell, Madoka forgets she's god, because Homura wants her to have a normal life. So Homura decides to steal her divinity and become the devil. Homura will now take all the pain and sorrow of the world into herself so Madoka can just live her life normally. She got to save Madoka. But now Homura's the Devil, and Madoka will have to fight her eventually, when the pain of the whole world is too much and she finally snaps.

ArtKi

One thing about waiting so long after the series to see the movie is that you don't remember what's WRONG with what you're seeing. It'll all make sense later on but you don't get the uncomfortable feeling the makers wanted you to have. 41:01 I watched this movie JUST before watching this reaction. This movie is so much better on the rewatch! 1:08:29 Madoka and Parasyte - same universe, confirmed. 1:34:29 Sell someone fake drugs. Have them watch this move. They'll tell everyone you sell the best drugs ever. 1:39:51 "They just wiped out the entire Incubator planet." And people said Eren was a villain! 1:58:08 Kyube had the shit beaten out of it. HAPPY ENDING CONFIRMED.

ArtKi

The show should be called "Homura Magica" amirite?

This was amazing! Now do the Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel movies!

Man the subs really are nightmarish. You need to rewatch it again on your own time with proper subs to really understand why Homura did all that. To sum it up: - The conversation Scene between Homura and Madoka was really an important one that this subs does really bad. Homura said it was really painful to part with madoka and be the only being who remember her. She said Madoka sacrifice herself to became the savior of all Magical girls. And then at that point, Madoka try to comfort her by saying "that is just a nightmare, there's no way i have that courage to became the savior, just chill, i am here with you Homura.". Homura interpreted that as her true and genuine wish. Becoming the savior of all magicas was a mistake that has to be fixed. That is why she literally ate a fraction of Madoka power to alter the reality and the whole universe to make Madoka just a regular girl again. So she isn't suddenly became a D out of nowhere, she does this because she is obsessed with Madoka. Well its true she became a D but not without a compelling motive. This subs kills Homura Character ! Fort DA ! Fort DA ! Fort DA !

Im totally with you man. I was always againts him watching animes on a livestream, but someone commented he's doing better at livestreams nowadays. Apparently not with this one -_-" . This could be totally one of the worse reaction to the series, but i still love the man, on his main channel at least. On the final note, buckle it up Madoka fans, he's not the chosen one Pepehands.

Anonymous

hard to swallow pills for us Madoka fans is that he's not the chosen one. Well at the very least his AOT and code Geass reaction are fantastical, so there's that. I believe we can't find a perfect reactor for Madoka ever, yes we're that special lmao, just remember that Meduka video exist and we love every single second of it xD. Lets just move on.

Katie Wyatt

I hate the dub for Madoka magica because it warps the meanings of things, but in this instance, I really wish you'd watched the dub. The horrible sub made an already confusing movie even more difficult to understand. I really hope you get a chance to rewatch this with better subs.

seeqzh

hate that this ended up being a twitch reaction but i understand it schedule wise. hope you get to watch it on your own time really soon with better subs and without having to look at a chat all the time man. also luke's really badly timed rants strikes again lol

seeqzh

my thoughts exactly, word for word. most annoying thing ever when your favorite part comes up and you realize he been looking at chat the whole time or ranting about something unrelated lol. oh well, still my favorite reaction channel just not a fan of the stream reactions.

Von Yoosten

Likely, but especially since the Movie works against you anyways, keeping your Focus away from it and using your Energy to decipher what the Subs are trying to say is not helpful at all. If it's already confusing, you can't also be forced to doubt what the Translation says. And I was also highly against watching this on-stream, and this Reaction just confirms that for me. Had he watched this as a regular Reaction, he would have paused a LOT more and thought about specific Scenes or made up some Theories, but on-stream he's just constantly glancing at Chat, missing part of the Story and doesn't really care about it.

Von Yoosten

Horrible! He waited God knows how long to record this and still didn't prepare until the actual Day? That angers me a little, ngl. So many People strongly cared about this Reaction, it's sad to hear that Luke didn't. Heck I'm sure even a Viewer could have sent him a usable .mp4 in Time.

Von Yoosten

If you complain about the bad Subs and try to give a Summary yourself, at least try to not make it equally bad grammatically lmao. What I'd wanna add to that Explanation though, is that the Reason Madoka is saying any of this is because she's basically brainwashed by Homura's Labyrinth. Homura is essentially creating her own perfect Version of Madoka that tells her exactly what she wants to hear, and then takes this Message as genuine Confirmation for her Conviction. Homura definitely has mental Problems.

dg_2drunk

what a trainwreck of a reaction, like most reactions with a live chat

Obscuremango

Ye it changes madoka refusing to make a choice to madoka not acnoliging a choice

Andoryuu

I really recommend for the rewatch to find the so called "Homura 1st take".

Harley Burnie

Wow. I'm halfway through, and yeah, these subs are traaaaaash. I have never seen this movie with these subs. How tf can something go so wrong?!? Sure, this movie is 50% "WTF," but it's a great movie. If you can understand it. Le sigh. Luke, rewatch a different one. The words these girls speak make all the difference. I'm sorry you ended up with such a rough time with it.

Harley Burnie

It is a horrible shame that I never see reacters enjoy the Side Story. It gave way more drama and plot, though being far longer a series gave an definite advantage in that. I've seen about 8 people react to PMMM in the last few months, and not one watched Iroka go through her own unique madness.

Harley Burnie

During that Homura/Mami battle, it intensifies the point when you think that, though Mami would have extensive experience battling Witches and Nightmare/Wraiths, Homura actually has around 12 years of experience being a Magical Girl, fighting Witches and other Magical Girls. Really says something about Mami's battle prowess, to keep ahead of Homura just enough.

Anonymous

yea I'm still learning and apparently still not at that level where i could write a grammatically cohesive sentence ( i reread my post and also laugh at it lmao), but i do hope i can get my message across. I see, that is very nice catch. The writing in this show is really immaculate, you can take another look and gain a new perspective. Man i can wait to see the upcoming movie, Homura story is really intriguing even if she has mental problem and be a Dig Bick to everyone else in the freaking universe xD.

Aaren YASS

What happened was: homura became a witch, used as an experiment by Kyuuby, thwarted, they freed homura and Madoka, but Homura wanted to free Madoka from her fate all along. Remember, Homuras original wish was to save Madoka and the real Madoka asked Homura to save her from being a magical girl. She wants to be a normal girl with her friends and family, thus Homura separated her from Madokami into just Madoka. To achieve this, Homura used her intense desire+ unfulfilled wish to gain greater power and become Akumi Homura. Her wish is incredibly selfish, but that's not always bad. The only thing she rewrote was herself (demon/devil), Madoka being a normal girl, and the curses are now absorbed by incubators because they had no emotions before (but now they feel fear and despair) Everyone can now be normal. However, she said that perhaps, when one day all the "monsters" are destroyed, she will also destroy the world. (This is assuming Madka is long dead by then, she would never do anything that would harm Madoka/ separate her) -

StrykerEvol

Definitely. The anime being confusing in nature, plus having strange/inaccurate subtitles AND chat being random and complaining about every single thing all the time on top, is like having all odds against you. However, i still think that the anime itself would have done enough to put him in full confusion mode. Since he is still not quiet used to these types of anime after all. Chat is sometimes really bonkers though, that's true. I still don't get the "to loud vs to low" arguments chatters are always having among each other. Never mind the "new mic" discussions, which is hardly any different. I never have any real issue, even while watching his live streams. Just check your own settings first for pete's sake. Except perhaps when the sound is clearly desynced, that's another topic. Guess that's the downside of getting more and more viewers.

Devilish132 .

Luke. Don't look too much into background if they are not fighting Witches/Nightmares. This anime was made by studio Shaft. And they just love to make everything as weird as possible, that's their style. In most cases it has no meaning at all. Sometimes there is only hidden message in it, but only sometimes.

I3ladeDragon

Lol, I hadn't seen this movie yet, so when I saw Luke decided to upload this, I was like "Hell, I'll just watch it along with him!" But after 9 minutes of obvious translation and many English grammar flaws, I decided to check the comments. I will have to watch this on my own before I watch how confused Luke gets in this reaction.

I3ladeDragon

I have now finished watching it. Yeah, I can only imagine that Luke ain't gonna know what the hell is going on. Time to watch that now. Hahahahahaha [I can't imagine live reacting to *this* movie with messed up subtitles]

Touhou RS

He's already watching it on illegitimate sources, so idk why he doesn't just download a good copy.

Tom Boggess

there is another movie coming out after this. Maybe it will answer your questions, but i wouldn't count on it. It will probably answer some and then raise even more questions.

Jason Kong

I want to see Luke shares his thought after the rewatching.

The comments I refrained from posting on the YT episodes are as follows: This is what it looks like for Homura to get her wish granted. Do you remember what she asked for? A redo of her meeting with Madoka, but this time, *protecting her* instead of being protected. Did we see that happen in the anime? No, we didn't. We saw Madoka sacrifice herself and become a Goddess to protect Homura. However, given how Homura's wish involved her becoming something more than a Magical Girl or a Witch, what's her future? As Kyubey said, and as Sayaka demonstrated, the cycle of a Magical Girl that lives long enough is: Contemplate Wish-->Exchange Soul for Wish-->Fall into Despair-->Become a Witch. Homura is going to fall from the height of happiness she's reached, but where will she land? What will the others do? Can Homura be saved? I'm so excited for the next movie because I want answers! The second thing: The ending to the anime is a rotten egg that has a prettily painted shell, while the ending to this film is a wonderful gift wrapped in clashing colors. The anime's ending was actually really sad when you think about it, right? When you consider Homura's actions, they aren't bad. She punishes Kyubey appropriately and saved everyone's lives (including Sayaka and Nagisa, who would have been claimed by the Law of the Cycle or become witches). How is that a bad ending? Not to mention, she's protecting Madoka. Our favorite pink-haired munchkin outright *said* that she would never have wanted to become a Goddess or be away from the people she loves! Akemi is just bringing about a changed reality to keep her beloved human, *which is what she wanted*. Beautiful film, honestly. I am so excited for the next movie!
