Man Todo's VA is on another level! I get goosebumps when he talks to Itadori. And even better - hes been cast to voice King Shark in the Suicide Squad Isekai

Mokinata

Manga Reader here (no spoilers), I remember reading this arc and being really interested in the fights but having very little understanding of what was happening, where, and why. Usually watching anime adaptations can be dry if you know what is going to happen and when, but between the directors adding extra anime original shots and just how far the motion and music elevate the source material, this has to be one of the best adaptations I've ever seen. Despite all the studio struggles this has blown my expectations out of the water every episode. The staff are absolute gods and I really really wish they'd get some equivalent compensation for their efforts (and less nightmarish working conditions).

MaxValion

I suppose the idea was to make the audience mad at Mahito. But he did exactly what he was supposed to as a curse. Instead, what I want to say is... I blame the author for bad writing of this part of the story. I blame them for treating one of the best characters as cannon fodder. And not even the main emotional trigger - that one was Nanami. Nobara was killed off just for a little extra "oomph". I blame them for Todo's slow ass casual stroll to "save his brother". Yeah, that's exactly the speed with which one goes to save someone in what is essentially a warzone. I blame them for the GenericInspirationalSpeech.mp3. Trying to gloss the situation over with another over the top monologue by Todo is not an ultimate magic trick to switch the mood. I blame them for the blonde plot device. Way to say: "Well, I couldn't be bothered to develop her character, so she is dead but also kind of not dead. Just forget about her, and I will maybe think of a way to use her in the future. Or maybe not." I blame them for the lame excuse of: "She harmed Mahito at the last moment, and that gave the characters that actually matter an advantage. See, I didn't kill her off for nothing". That very same bs was used with the nobody she lost to before. And before anyone says that I am exaggerating, remember everything that Nobara did and experienced in this arc, and imagine Itadori or Fushiguro in her place. Pretty hard, huh? Because there is apparently no main character trio in JJK. There is the main character duo and some third disposable extra.

Thomas Juino

it's 3 ep left ^^ they will be on the same lvl as this one, you can count on me ;)

TOMfoolery

A black flash isn't just a strong attack. Landing one makes a sorcerer enter "the zone" and temporarily raises their cursed energy output to 120%.

Dethrox

wait.. i think i missed something is Black flash really insignificant to Mahito ?? :D also where is Mei Mei ???? :D where is Gojo... :(

Maurice Adler

Jeez cry more ffs. Nobara is and always was a plot device. Thats how characters work. Nothing about this was lazy or bad writing. Bad opinions like yours is the reason why characters usually have mega plot armor. If a character dies they die. Then thats their character arc. Neither you nor any other ''fan'' gets to decide what potential was wasted in a character because this always was Nobaras reason to be in the story to begin with. In the end she doesnt matter. Or she will. You know why? because the story isnt over and she isnt confirmed dead. So watch and see how she will end up or cry about a character fulfilling their purpose.

Liasun

This episode was so epic. As a manga reader, they absolutely delivered. That shot with the three of them at 120% was such a fire panel in the manga and the pretty much did a 1:1 of it in the anime. Also Todo's entrance is one of the coolest character entrances in the entire series and I was so hyped to see it animated. Without a doubt the JJK team have definitely surpassed all my expectations for the season.

MaxValion

Good luck protecting more bad narrative choices in the future. Of course the author is always right and any criticism is just "crying".

Shendri27

Not related to the episode just to let you know that Ado will be in London on the 13th of March 2024 and the tickets selling will open this month :)

Daniel Costello

There’s only 3 episodes left. It should end by the end of the year

malkuuusha

He knows it already. He posted about it on YouTube several hours ago

malkuuusha

Not a fan of Todo in general, but during this fight he is 🔥 and 😂

LuciusArtoriusCastus

It’s insignificant when todo does it because todo can’t harm the soul, but when yuji does it, it does a lot of damage because yuji can harm Mahitos soul due to him housing two souls (himself and sukuna)

Anonymous

Far too true I also read the manga , and the sheer feeling you get with such high quality animation, voice acting, art direction, music. It's all just so damn good! That scene with Miwa definitely hits harder here. And the fights, don't even get me started. The art style might not be everyone's favourite with the way it's done, but it's all too perfect for me

Maurice Adler

not any but your ''criticism'' is. Nobara being one of the best characters is super subjective. In the end she is nothing more than a side character and anything more than that is just your fanfiction.

LuciusArtoriusCastus

Icl u missed here. The other guy is right, the story isn’t even over and there’s a high possibility she isn’t dead. But even if she is, it was not a lazy death, maybe just a little too early for most fans to appreciate.

teenkikin

I LOVED Nobunaga Shimazaki's voice acting of Mahito!!! BTW, HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOJO!!

syaimaral

Damn! My man so epic he has his own theme song! This is the best episode YET!

Dethrox

i see^^ thx but i have to say as much as Yuji is attacking him black flash or not, Mahito doesnt even look like harmed.. (i know he said he is basicaly at his 40%) but it certainly doesnt look like it :D

Patrick Jacobsen

the Todo/Yuji tagteam combo was *chef's kiss*

SPOILERS IN COMMENT Max, Maurice isn't wrong though. Look at Nobara's design from the get go, her character wasn't designed to live up to the end, from her technique to character arc, she was portrayed as the standard. Even in the story her capability is described as such. There isn't anything wrong with that, and in fact works on a level beyond surface. Maybe if you stop crying about 'bad narrative choice' you'll manage to look further than 'character death=wasted potential'. To do you a favour I'll describe why this works for the better. Starting with that being just standard comment I made before. (BEWARE SOME MINOR AND POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR MANGA) (ONCE AGAIN SPOILERS!!!!!) We know from the manga jujutsu society is a corrupt one, with the higher ups trying to stick too heavily to traditional values. Hence their favourability of a technique like Nobara's. One that isn't super strong and they can remain in control of. Because that's what they aim for, they don't like people like Gojo, Itadori, Yuta, Maki and Fushiguro because they can all be special grade level easily and thus too strong to control. Meanwhile Nobara is behind, her potential capping at grade 1 at best, not particularly high Cursed Energy level, no special idiosyncrasy (unique Cursed Energy effect like Hakari or Kashimo) and no real special capabilities. It's clear from just that she wouldn't have survived past the culling games anyways what with so many Heian era sorcerers who are far above her level. But then the question becomes: why kill her off here? And actually there's no better time to do so. 1. The effect for Itadori's character growth, his change in mindset from here is integral to his arc and wouldn't nearly hit as hard without very good reason 2. Mahito is the antithesis of Yuji, he's the one curse that took so much from him, having her killed by another curse would result in another major antagonist that would detract from the next arc. Whereas having Mahito do it fuels both the audience and character into hating him and creating a more cathartic fight when Itadori beats him 3. Think about what both the Shibuya incident and Nobara represent. The Shibuya incident is meant to demonstrate the beginning downfall of Jujutsu society that Kenjaku and the curses want. Past this fight all events are led by Kenjaku's plan and our main cast trying to stop it. The whole arc is the midpoint transition to the end, it's where things truly begin to change. And what better way to do that and reinforce the meaning than by killing two of the best examples of the society's ideal sorcerers? Both Nanami and Nobara stand to represent that society, and they're the main ones we know of, the rest of the main cast are almost all ahead in terms of potential, representing Gojo's side of the future free of jujutsu society's corruption. Plus you can't even argue favouritism, since Nanami was Gege Akutami's favourite character. But he's set up an event with important meaning, and created a situation to highlight both character and message. But to do so, he had to create actual consequence to what's happened, and this is that outcome. Overall, Nobara was designed as a character that couldn't last, her death wasn't used as pure shock, sure it had that effect, but it was more than that. It conveyed a message of what this whole arc means for the future, how the story will progress, and serves as a constant reminder that there are real threats to the characters we love. (ANOTHER SPOILER WARNING!) P.S as I'm finishing the comment I've just remembered something. In the most recent arc we've seen that Fushiguro is also gone, he's been possessed and transformed into Heian era Sukuna and tanked 3 hits of unlimited void from Gojo. It's safe to say, most of the main cast is dead, since Go/jo is gone too. So, one: yeah Nobara was never surviving up to this point regardless. And two a lot of people have pointed out that this could actually have happened due to Itadori's grandfather cursing him in death. He was told to die surrounded by people he cared about, yet it's seeming that he may be the only one of our main cast to make it out alive at this point. With so many chance encounters occurring to lead to this result, it's truly possible that his grandfather did curse him, especially since it's likely he knew about the sorcerer world before he died. And we know that sorcerers who die with regrets have their lingering thought curse the living, it's why Nanami and Nobara could only say basic things as their fianl moments and no real encouragement. But seriously, this death did make sense, fit the themes of the story and couldn't have happened at a better time lets be fair since it would've happened anyways.

Maurice Adler

Yep. Just tell him about what's happening in the manga why don't you. How about we don't talk about anything from the manga here

JonJon's Kooky Quest

Time for Mahito to get BOOGIED on LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I knew Luke’s reaction to Todo showing up was going to be good. Had to bite my tongue when he asked about him two episodes back lol

Frentzy

10:49 - 11:04 Luke is officially shounen trash enjoyer confirmed. Welcome to the club. PS: usually in the anime anime community once you enjoy a genre strong enough you become a 'trash enjoyer' of that genre. The most common meme is the: isekai trash enjoyers.

Shiwa chan

Nicolas Light put him on the thumbnail so he spoiled that reveal for me SMH .Even Luke forgot about Maki SMH .

Frentzy

he can shape his soul? He cover from every injury visually only, the injury is still there

L.C.

JJK is trash

Juho Kaartoaho

Marimekko is Finnish designer brand.

V

Love Subaru Kimura! He's an amazing VA

vRED13v

then get the fuck out of here, we dont want your negativity

vRED13v

when did Fushiguro get possessed and transformed? the last we saw of him was when Sukuna healed him and then fought Mahoraga. as far as i recall, we have not seen Fushiguro since that episode because he was unconscious when that happened

Captain Warcrime

That still image with Mahito, Todo (doing "smooch"), and Yuji was literally ripped straight from the manga. The only difference is that it was colored. Which was kinda jarring but still cool considering Gege's artstyle is the best in existence.

Cédric Michaud

Just like the other guy said he can shape his soul, so he can litterally hides his injury superficially. If I remember correctly Mechamaru arrived at similar conclusion in his fight against Mahito before the Shibuya arc.

JammySplosha

since it sounds like you forgot how Black Flash works, a black flash is a 2.5x stronger attack than what it would be normally, and afterwards it makes using cursed energy feel as natural as breathing, while also increasing the users fighting prowess to 120% of their capacity, aka, 20% increased overall power

Daniel Griffiths

manga reader here... yes the adaption fucking slapped lol

dani oz

Ngl, the people in the train station where Gojo was sealed are goated. I mean, they returned to their daily lives after 2 months of coma due to Gojos domain, surviving everything that happened the past few episodes.

Yoru

Manga reader too. For this season I was mostly looking forward to Sukuna v Mahoraga, it’s been such a treat from the animators that the other fights have exceeded expectations. Mechmaru v Mahito, Itadori v Choso, Nanami v Haruta, Sukuna v Jogo and now this as well. They were

Yoru

They were brilliant in the manga but the anime has taken some creative control and I love it.

Yoru

Oh I also want to mention, because it really stood out in this ep especially. The voice actors nailed it, you can feel every emotion in them

Suichoku

Mahito's VA during the speech... sheesh that was one of the most intense voice acting I have ever heard. Intensity of those high notes and screeches 👌Honestly made him sound horrifying.

Suichoku

You seem to be kinda negative, why? Often see you even on re:zero reactions being negative / passive aggressive. Just saying something is trash, what is the point? It adds nothing. You didn't even say why you think this episode was bad, did you even watch it? Neither did you say why you think JJK is trash, at least expand your point so it isn't completely pointless.

When I wanted to Rewatch Season 1, I went for the English Dub. You could always go with the Dub Rewatch for the whole series if you wanted the excuse.

Nate Ming

It's okay Luke, I've been in denial for years now SHE'S GOTTA BE OKAY

abiyyu hilmi

FYI yuji itadori voice actor it's realy cry when dubbing these last 3 episode

Dominique

Mahito's voice actor deserves a raise

Jonesy

black flash isnt 2.5 times stronger its the strength of the attack to the power of 2.5

Anonymous

My favourite part was when Todo clapped his asscheeks while his hands were occupied with blades.

Noctislolig

Luke, this season will have 23 episodes, not 24. So there are only 3 episodes left instead of 4.

LuciusArtoriusCastus

@vRED13v he placed a spoiler warning before that 🤦‍♂️ that should tell u to stop reading because the things he’s describing are future events 💀

Anonymous

He actually claps during the few frames where we dont see his hands

Arcade'owy Łowca

I understand the rest of them, but Iori Utahime would be pretty helpfull. She's a grade just below Todo, Nanami and Mei Mei. Not only that, but some of sorcerers on that level have their domain expansion, so they could witstand Sukuna's attack. Iori might be not the best pick, but she could at least improve the chances. Also, cursed speech would be pretty great to have right now. Actually, there's no reason why Mechamaru didn't ask inumaki for help, Mechamaru could've escape Mahito with him being around. With his "bots" Mechamaru surerly wouldn't have problems with paying inumaki for a secret mission. His error was to blindly go for gojo, who was unachievable either way.

Fahed JKR

rest in peace 🙏
