MfGoodnight

I know it probably won’t win but I hope Gintama

Todor Georgiev

I still think you are missing out on Sword Art Online. Not the biggest (by episodes) but I believe is a must watch by every anime fan. :)

Majoz

we need one pieeeeceeee!

Hwiyeop Kim

Yeah my pick is gintama as well but naruto or one piece prob gonna win lol. These two are too popular

Spat1000

One piece!!! No fillers. Hmmm now it's just sub or dub which one to go for? Also the first 4-5 openings in one piece the English version got dubbed opening songs it'd be kinda cool to see you react to them.

FaerieRose

Hunter x Hunter FTW. Great story and characters, consistently high quality animation, and no fillers to worry about. One Piece is the oldest anime in the poll, but Jojo has the oldest manga.

Animeter

The character with the biggest age progression should be Naruto.

Marcio Neves

What do you mean? We follow Goku from his 12 until he becomes the grandpa of a 12 year old girl 😁 Edit: now I see. From those in the video, Naruto+Boruto has the widest age profession, yes

Animeter

It's still too early, Gintama has too many references to other big anime. Most jokes don't make sense to people who haven't watched these shows.

SonSpike

As far as character age progression, Mushoku Tensei is probably the best (at least in the Light Novel/Manga, the anime is obviously still ongoing).

Jabin (Aelic)

Hunter X Hunter is a masterpiece

TOMfoolery

Knowing you, I reckon you'd probably enjoy either One Piece or JoJo's the most for different reasons.

Elijah Wheaton

I feel like Jojo would be best! Not only is it probably the best (if not the only) generational anthology series of all time, to avoid any possible burnout, he could take brakes between parts.

Marcio Neves

I haven't watched the full video yet but I doubt any would be longer than One Piece and it's 1000+ epsidodes 😅

Overflag

one piece gang !!!

Lady Lati

If I had to pick from personal preference of the actual big 3,Bleach would be first because I love the main character and the concept and story kept me invested, the second would be Naruto probably due to it being my first ever fully long anime and I just absolutely love the world and the struggles many of the characters face internally, and third would be One Piece,I read the manga of One Piece and I'm ahead of the anime but I'm not sure I just could never get fully invested in it,it is an amazing anime/manga with characters I do love and get hyped for but the arcs drag on too long and I get burnt out quite often with one piece and it loses my attention alot quicker aswell 😅

kemplar285

Bleach and Naruto would be my top picks

Marcio Neves

Naruto and Naruto Shippuden are the same show. Like Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. They aired non stop and The name change in both was used to reflect a time skip in the story. Boruto is a new show, with a new setting and new generation of characters

Sebastian

when was the first poll?? i thought we just did the saturday poll

yuzu hibiki

World trigger op and ed reactions

RIPchen

You read 1100 chapters and are not invested? Love all 3 shows btw

Animeter

I'm in for One Piece, Naruto or HxH. Bleach is okay, but not my favorite. It's too early for Gintama, imo and I don't like JoJo

UtPuteiAbyssi

100% JoJo you're gonna love it

FinalMasterM

The biggest issues with Naruto and Hunter x Hunter is that other react channels have had a lot of strikes against them even blurred. I hope everyone voting takes note of that if they plan on watching them on the 2nd channel.

Marcio Neves

From that list I would vote Naruto. I really want you to get involved with the characters, their progression and their training, to see you react, with full context, for "Gaara x Rock Lee" fight 😁

Lady Lati

Yeah,I just don't know what it is about One Piece it could be the paving of it,but everytime I'm in a long arc I feel myself just being like: god okay why is this taking soo long, please let's just get to the next arc. Then I end up losing complete interest, the only parts of one piece that grab me are backstories as I have found myself more emotional over those than what's actually going on in the manga,it's probably also got to do with me not really clicking or enjoying Luffy as the MC,I would've had same struggles with Naruto but I love the side characters and have found myself way more emotional and hyped for moments in Naruto 😅 I'm not sure if that makes any sense, but I'm definitely not bashing on One Piece! I wouldn't have read over 1k chapters,I just don't enjoy it as much as the other 2

Animeter

One Piece Dub?? Is there anyone watching it in dub? Ger Dub maybe, but Eng Dub is terrible

Spat1000

I grew up watching the English dub but I've also watched a fair bit in sub, I can go between the 2 seamlessly just not the 4kids dub that shit is terrible lol

Victoria Pritchard

Love HunterxHunter, it has 2 anime adaptations 1999 and another in 2011, you haven't reacted to the 1999 opening and ending yet, best OSTs from 2011 are Zoldyck family theme, hegemony of the food chain, kingdom of predators and to give a marionette life.

Nate Ming

re: age brackets--all of these are aimed at kids and teens--specifically boys--they all originally run or ran in Weekly Shonen Jump (JoJo eventually moved to Ultra Jump, which is aimed at young adult men) They may have more violence or "mature" content than what we expect in western kids' TV, but remember: Fist of the North Star was also for kids

Tucker Lobner

Hunter X Hunter is definitely the show I'm pulling for out of these, it's one of my favoirite shows ever.

wildhunt1973

So, I follow you on Twitch, but I really don't watch anime on there with you because I can't really afford to spend 3+ hours sitting in front of my computer (and watching on computer annoys me to no end for some reason. TVs are fine. Computer hurts my eyes after half an hour). That's why I like that you upload on Patreon because I can take a break and not miss anything. I guess this is just to say, no matter what you watch, I'll watch with you on Patreon, even if I don't watch with you on Twitch.

Qenzo

Gintama is the best Anime ever 🤝👌🏻

PDXM

i would say HunterXHunter jojo and bleach are good start , one piece + naruto are too long and don't watch gintama now make it last one

Jurriën Bolding

One of the big three will make me happy, don't really care much for hxh and jojo

yuzu hibiki

One piece fan but gonna put my vote on Bleach. Easiest to watch compared to One piece (Masterpiece series ruined by greedy animation studio trying to drag shit out) and Gintama (Best to watch after 2-3 big anime to understand the jokes better). Jojo is technically completed, and i do think it's a good series. Naruto, personal preference but don't like it because of main chars and it's final saga. Dragon ball, enjoyable, OG shounen even if its not the best. HXH great series, not completed and probably wont ever be. Anime ends at a good place that can be considered its ending.

Gonzo

Really curious on which one is going to win this poll, I honestly wouldn't be able to pick. I love One Piece to bits, it's probably my favourite one, but yeah, by the time you would catch on to weekly releases, you would probably had been able to finish all of the other animes in the poll, that's wild, although I'm all for it if that's what ends up winning. Gintama is a great show, but as others have said, it's so packed with references that I believe should be kept until you've finished the big 3. Jojo's is probably the easiest one to finish, rough start, but well worth going through those first 10 or so episodes. Can't say much about HxH since it never really grabbed me, but it obviously is really good or else it wouldn't have such a dedicated and large fanbase. Nothing to say about Naruto or Bleach, they're great and alongside One Piece, they are shows that got entire generations of people hooked on anime. Both of these though have an inmense amount of filler episodes, and in their majority are not worth watching. Really excited about this, whichever wins!

Flutter0Shy

I agree. Even Bleach fillers are nice but one that tried to mix with canon. The rest are skippable, but fun. One Piece can get you to episodes where you just watch 3 minutes of content with how hard recap goes and the stretching of scenes ...

Orieng

This is so hard, all 6 animes are like Godfathers, not only to anime, but also to the genres. You ask which you would like the most? Impossible to answer, since all long animes have highs and lows, so it depends what genre you are into. Me myself is a huge Naruto fan, mostly because both me and my father was into Ninja stuff :)

Rem is best waifu

Jojo or Hunter X Hunter is a must watch imo. Also neither has filler.

Muligan Shinzuo

Naruto + Shippuden would be the anime that has age progression and a complete story iirc (ignore boruto as it is in the same universe but new characters). I would say the vote should be mostly twitch watchers as it is where it is watched. I am suprised that there is no Dragon Ball on the list. You already watched it (just mentioning it for completion (it also has age progression))

floobius

i feel like Luke would love Jojo

CurseMark4Life

To answer which is the darkest I would say all of them have their darker themes like blood, death, and edginess (except for One Piece for the most part). But the one with the most would definitely be Hunter X Hunter. Bleach is a close second followed by Naruto. JoJo can be mature and dark when it wants to, but I wouldn't say it's what you mean in the sense of "Dark"

Roy Meulblok

My vote is for One Piece, but I personally think its handier to do finished big anime first

Tatersalad666

Hunter x Hunter is the one I most want you to watch. There are lots of good options, but HxH has a consistent quality to it, and definitely has the best pacing It's long, but not nearly as long as the others so its a lot more digestible.

Oh Well

Gintama is for you, for the gag, action, the feels and life lessons. Didn't really watch the others yet I understood the humour and thoroughly enjoyed the whole show.

Aspy 130

I think the best start out of these would probably be HxH but at the same time it would be incredible to see you get to tybw in bleach. It’s like the show is finally getting all the love it deserves with the new animation and sound

Jonesy

buddy there is like 5 or 6 whole ass generations of jojos

Sean Mcguinness

Naruto would be fantastic, It's just such a iconic anime and really never stops building.

Anonymous

JoJo please

Sean Mcguinness

I agree, It's fantastic, I just feel it would be better understood if he had watched more Shounen first before diving into it.

Jonesy

i think hxh is a really good pick for the first one because i know you would love it. its bros being bros. you also have 2 sons and i think the show would resonate with you somewhat

Sean Mcguinness

I would LOVE to see Gintama in a bit when he's finished one or two bigger Shounen anime, otherwise a lot of the gags etc would be lost.

CurseMark4Life

To answer your question which one do I think you would like the most. I would 100% say Hunter X Hunter by a long shot. Second would be Bleach and third Naruto. Just based on what I've seen you enjoy in anime.

Gamefisher

Jojo is a bit of an outlier in the lineup. Unlike the other options it's not a long running anime, it is divided into multiple 24-39 episode seasons and most of those are actually their own stories with just tangent connections to the other seasons.

DeusSilvam

I'm surprised Luke is planning on watching all of these. I wouldn't recommend any of the big 3 to new anime watchers these days. Too much filler by modern anime standards. Reading the manga is the best way to enjoy them, these days - for One Piece, can just read up the penultimate story arc and then continue with the anime if it is your preferred medium. Aside from that, I'd say HxH stands up even against modern anime shows and JoJo is pretty much a modern anime show. Gintama is the weird one - pretty much a comedy show with tons of references and not really like the others in the list.

Visoth

I'll just order these in my own preference. One Piece Naruto Hunter x Hunter JoJo (only seen first 2 seasons, the others I wasn't interested in) Bleach Gintama (Haven't seen. Heard great things though) I'd say the first three are largely better than the bottom three. But thats my own taste. For example, I have watched the entirety of the first three (minus filler), multiple times. But I could not get past season 2 of JoJo's. I did really enjoy the first 2 seasons though, but its on a completely different level compared to the top three. If you held a gun to my head and told me to pick one. I probably would not be able to. I'm 100% fine with either of the top three being first. Luke, if you're still reading this (wow), I will recommend you check out the Youtube channel "JDanime 2". They are reacting to the entirety of One Piece, and their formula for posting on Youtube is PERFECT. They generally don't use filters and only cut perhaps 40% of each episode out of the reaction. But they cut their episodes up in a way that you can still follow along. They post 1 episode a day on Youtube, and are currently over 500 episodes in. After the episode is over, they spend about 3-6 minutes between themselves discussing their thoughts and theories. You can tell they are really into the series with how much they both can remember! Edit: They also average ~30-60k views per episode. So their episode formula/strategy really works. I still have no idea how they get by copyright.

MIce1987

I'd say Hunter x Hunter or One Piece. Naruto and Bleach are good but I prefer HxH and One Piece over them. Gintama is supposedly really good but I've only seen a few episodes and JoJo is also good, but not for everyone.

MasterMaster

I don't think Gintama is a good pick, because it is like 75% comedy. If it hits your humor, it's fine. But for me personally it didn't hit. I watched everything so I know it gets better and the final arcs are 10/10 awesome but it was very hard to get to that point.

gggoos

fingers crossed for Bleach

Manuel

I think you would like hxh the most

Keith Merrington

Personally I couldn't stick through any such a long anime series. I'll get bored no matter what it's about and go watch or do something new. I much prefer the shorter animes. They either have some fresh idea or a different take on a theme.

gggoos

15:35 I haven't seen Jojo but I'd propably say Bleach out of these. Maybe not darkest but more or less more blood, injuries etc. (But this is only the manga and the new 2 seasons. OG Bleach was heavily censored from the manga version due to the time slot it had at the time of airing)

GeezMuhKnees

HxH is my favorite of the bunch, and it is relatively shorter so you can get to the next one sooner. HxH stands out with the best character growth and bromance of these options, and probably fits Luke best at the moment.

Anonymous

HxH is good, of the Big 3 I like Bleach the most, One Piece is definitely the best overall but can be a slog at times, and Naruto has kind of lost my enjoyment over the years. Bleach has a coolness and badass factor you don't find much and the OSTs by Shiro Sagisu are unmatched. Bleach was also a huge influence for a lot of modern popular anime like Demon Slayer, JJK, and Black Clover to name a few. If you pull up a filler list and skip the filler eps then Naruto and Bleach become much more digestible shows, unfortunately it is hard to skip One Piece because in exchange for not having much filler it has a lot of pacing issues and padding in its episodes.

Orieng

Normally i would agree not to start a big anime yet, but after reading your comment i realized, did most of us not start with a big anime? we grew up with? just a random thought i had :P

Sei

I hope Naruto win

Juho Kaartoaho

I have not watched it personally but my understanding is that it also has many references to other anime series as it's jokes that could go over the head if you don't know the reference.

Daniel Mata

Please not HXH, im saying because its not finished and there is nothing that says its coming back

Star

Gintama is filled with anime references for shows that youve never seen yet sooo prolly better to wait for that one

Gabriel

Please just don't start HxH, any of the others would be super ok. I'm tired of seeing that boring and pointless MC, namely Gon.

S0ulSp4de

Hard to say which would be good, because everyone has some strong points and weak points. Can't say for JoJo and HxH though. Gintama I guess is hit or miss, the comedy wasn't really something for me, so after I watched some, I send it to "break" and it's sitting there since. Out of One Piece, Naruto and Bleach...Bleach would be my favorite. Naruto had the most potential (for me at least) and One Piece the greatest world. But overall I would give Bleach the No. 1

Juho Kaartoaho

I don't think that One piece would be a good pick just for the fact that how big it is and still continuing show. It is currently on 1087 episodes, even if you watch 2/week it would take 544 weeks to catch up to current episode. That would be over 10 year commitment and spot taken from other shows. I don't think it's worth the watch especially how the further you get they stretch the content so that you get max 10 min new content and rest is just recap and intro/outro time. I think that from these shows You would most likely love ether Hunter X Hunter, Bleach or JoJo.

slendie

HxH and Bleach if you want a really good show Jojo is more for the memes but fun to watch

Aaron Yoghurt

Are you planning on doing a Gintama endings reaction? Those are all bangers :D

Rey

Imo you should start with HxH, it's the shortest one of the bunch, followed by Bleach and then JoJo or Naruto/Shippuden, (ignore Boruto, it sucks, its bad, I shelved it at episode 241 / 293 because the Cringe was the worst I've seen out of any Anime so far, and I've only stuck with it that far cause Naruto was my 1st ever Anime, that introduced me to Anime in the 1st place when i was like 11 , I'll finish it some day but that day is not today) Gintama is like other people already said, full of references and jokes related to other Anime you haven't seen yet so you wouldn't really have the best experience watching it. I absolutely love One Peace and couldn't recommend it enough, but again it's way too long to start with, currently at episode 1087 and counting, been watching it weekly for at least past 15 years or so, it would take you about 108.7 days to get to that point IF you watched 10 episodes a day which we all know you wouldn't do, so now you do the math if you watch like 5-6 Episodes once or twice a week, it would take you several years at best, I know you really want to watch it but well... better save it for last I'd say.

Hamo

hunter x hunter is my fav i hope it wins

Animeter

My favorite still is Naruto, but I'm fine with HxH or One Piece. But jojo is not my kind of show

Martin Vaclavik

definitely wouldnt recommend Gintama first since its main appeal is comedy that is based on references to other anime (especially the others in this tournament) Otherwise really hoping for JoJo first, we can get through that in a couple of months and I can finally watch it through your reactions :D Also hoping Naruto after JoJo so I dont have to wait 2 years for you to get through One Piece (which seems to be second place rn) xD

Hawk of Battle

Honestly I wouldn't worry too much about watching ALL of these. I've been watching anime for over 10 years, probably seen 150+ shows and I've seen a total of ONE of these (HxH). I got about 12 episodes into Bleach and gave up, just wasn't working for me. The rest are all way too long and you'd be forced to dedicate ages to each of them if you wanna react. There are SO many other great shows that won't utterly devour your entire life you can go and watch first that you still haven't seen. Go watch Gurren Lagann, Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Baccano, Berserk, Ghost in the Shell, Demon Slayer, to name just a few.

Bobby Vang

Gintama needs a lot of knowledge in Japanese cultire and pop-culture to fully enjoy. I love it, but I think you should tackle more older anime to truly enjoy Gintama, until it reaches to certain arcs. I do admit, One Piece is the one I prefer the most out of all of these.

Michael

Gintama is the anime to end all anime, you have to watch all the others here if you want the maximum enjoyment from it since there is so many references and jokes based on the other series.

Adam

yeah, but we had the benefit of watching them as they came out. Like I started one piece and Naruto when they first started airing on tv in the US. And we also had the benefit of devoting more time to them. We were in school and had lots of free time, including summer breaks, and we could focus on one series instead of spreading our time

Takezo Nara

I'd love Naruto as the first one, but I'm here for whatever is the final decision. Let's go!

idkwhy

Please start with first arc of One Piece, as I said before it will take only a few streams on twitch like 4 or 5 :)

Sebastian Stróż

HxH, no contest. Not only its the best shounen, its relatively short and you would absolutely love it (JJK is HAVELY influenced by it and its easy to see once you know HxH)

Eliav Moran

I hope one piece will win!

Eliav Moran

The oldest anime is one piece and it has 1086+ eps

Kieran O’Neil

so when is the vote lol? all i know is that it’s on twitch.

Stefan

The longest and the oldest is One Piece, but Naruto is close too (1000+ episodes if you include Boruto, but you can stop with Shippuden). The shortest is HxH with 148 episodes and then JoJo with < 200 episodes I think ( that’s why it was the highest on that poll, I don’t think people will choose One Piece or Naruto as the first one). For Gintama you need to see or at least know some main characters and lore from the rest animes from this poll + ofc Dragon Ball. It may be aged, but is like a father to everything it came after😀

patros36

He said it would be on twitch so probably like 6 a week, if going by how much hes watching on twitch currently. And second he said several times this would not affect the other show slots, so both points are nothing to be worried about.

Kevin V

Considering I haven't watched Gintama, Bleach is my favorite from the list. In my opinion: Bleach is the coolest Naruto is the most emotional One Piece is the most inspiring HxH is writing masterpiece JoJo's has the most bizarre adventures lol

Shiwa chan

JoJo gets brutal a few arc's in ,so much the version for television needed to be censored . And Bleach TYBW was made for the late night slot . So they can show max violence etc. But they still could not prevent that parts getting censored at the end .

Yula

Mann i cant choose between Bleach and Naruto. 😣 but i hope you choose Naruto. I cant wait you neet Itachi.

Zey

if one piece wins, can't wait for you to go on a journey of ups and down with the vast majority of fans. lore wise, it's one of the best, you might even do your own theory and stuff ☺️😅

Dj

He could follow the website that says which are fillers or canon and ask the audience which of those to watch that add to the story.

Soulseller33

I really hope its not gintama or Jojos... i dont think thats a good start for such long animes. Specially gintama beeing a parody with having many references which you not understand most of the time.

Lock G.G.

As every show is great, so I think you should watch you like or according to vote.

Soulseller33

I really like the idea where you watch the first episode for every of these anime and than make a vote on the stream with everyone beeing on there. Cause those are the ones who mostly will watch those animes with you.

yorozuyapetel

Technically out of all of these the only finished shows are Naruto and Gintama, though Naruto has boruto which is seemingly horrible from what I’ve heard and Gintama has spin offs coming. I think if it’s on an age rating I’d probably have HxH and jojos, Jojo can get very graphic, besides that probably Gintama since it has TONS of inappropriate jokes and also pretty rough scenes sometimes. The others also get sad sometimes but not as dark or graphic. I don’t know about bleach and Naruto tho cause I haven’t watched more than 100 episodes from those

yorozuyapetel

I’m really sad that I can’t really keep up with streams, just never lines up with my schedules but I will probably watch them here (unless it’s Naruto probably, not interested in it)

Hagg3r

Just recently got to the "The One Piece is real" scene. What a great show.

yorozuyapetel

Waawaa what a crybaby, just cause you don’t like it doesn’t make it any less beloved. he’ll watch whatever you want him to watch eventually regardless

yorozuyapetel

😭😭😭 we never getting that continuation man it’s been almost a decade and the author is already planning endings in case he doesn’t get to finish the manga

Matthew Valentine

Naruto hits different, surely there are better stories out there but the vibe when the show is in its bag is unmatched imo

yorozuyapetel

Have yet to watch past the soul society arc (plainly forgot to continue) tho I do agree, one piece is arguably amazing but just really sad how it’s treated, I think all the filler in bleach and Naruto might be better cause you can just skip it since they’re finished now

Juho Kaartoaho

Granted if he would watch 5 episodes a week like his other twitch reactions the catch up time would drop to little over 4 years. Also even if it doesn't take time from other reactions there are total of 1192 episodes to watch if you would watch Naruto + Naruto Shipuden without filler episodes, hunter x hunter, Gintama, Bleach up to now without filler episodes and all of JoJo so far. That is only 105 episodes more than just One piece and that is estimated by google to continue to at least to 2030. that would be around 300-350 more episodes more roughly. I would personally not put One Piece over watching all of those shows in that time.

Kyle Garrett

I followed on twitch though I can't watch these live (not enough free time to watch anime for hours on end). I'll try to watch them here on patreon though, since I can at least 2x the streams to make them manageable timewise.

Mooboy2000

All of the animes on the list are amazing and I can't wait for you to react to all of them, but I'm honestly hoping HunterxHunter wins for first since it's completed, the oldest (I think) and I believe shorter than all of the others so it wouldn't be that long before being able to start the next...and also it's the best, fight me lol.

Andy Hinton

As for a anime with the best character progression in general and age wise that's most likely Naruto.

Andy Hinton

Episode wise One Piece is at 1000plus and still going, JoJo like 160 still going, Bleach is at 200plus, Naruto the original is 270, Naruto Shippuden is 500 plus a movie called The Last Naruto Movie

SkyMina

Please react to arknight OST "settle into ash".

Jason Tam

I think watching the first of all 6 would be super helpful to at least understand what each one is all about.

TSP

None of the "big anime" really appeal to me all that much, but my vote will easily go to Bleach out of that list. In regards to your question, none of them would qualify as being anything over 12+ for age rating.

Anonymous

Gintama is a very entertaining anime (I think it's top 20 on the anime list), but it contains a lot of references to other series like one piece, dragon ball and other older series. One can definitely enjoy it without understanding every reference, but maybe it's better to wait.

Dave M

Hunter x hunter alllll the way baby

Aiko

Gintama is focused on comedy more than Bleach, In anime finished ones are: Gintama, Hunter x Hunter, Naruto & Shippuden. Naruto is probably the series where the protags age the most throughout the series. Within this list, One Piece is oldest airing from 1999 to now and Demon Slayer is the newest here, love your Re:Zero watchthroughs ♡

Kosumi

I feel like Gintama would be enjoyed more with more experience with the popular anime, since they are referenced quite often

Laffy

I personally think you'd love Naruto and especially Naruto Shippūden as long as you skip the fillers. Naruto was the one that got me into the anime rabbit hole. That's where my vote goes, but I'm down to watch with you whichever wins, except for JoJo. I never managed to continue the JoJo series after Season 2 Part 2 because I was forcing myself to watch it until the end and I got bored most of the time. But I might be wrong and you might like it. It just wasn't for me I guess. Gintama is HIGHLY recommended to watch after you've at least watched some of the other big ones on this list, so you could understand more about the jokes they pull in Gintama. Much love Luke! ♥

itaral

naruto and dragon ball are the only of the big animes where main character ages

itaral

naruto is completed hxh one piece jojo bleach aren't completed

Aliziel

Most of the fillers are actually fun to watch too.. They just overdid it in the shinobi war arc of shippuden if you skipped all the fillers you might as well try watching them now.

Laffy

I did watch all the fillers because at that time I had no idea what fillers were, but I noticed those episoden had no meaning and was just fooling around. You're not wrong tho, some of the fillers are worth to check out. But mostly would recommend skipping most of em. And also iirc I think Luke said in one of his Re:Zero reactions that he's not really into fillers.

Frentzy

I think best choice is a small one between these six. Hunter x hunter is around 148 eps, and jojo is around 190. Rest is +350. 5 * 52(weeks in a year ) = 260 eps/year. 30-38 weeks for jojo/hunterxhunter. I'd say is safest experiment for "a big anime". So after 30-38 weeks he could determine if it "was worth" the investment of time idk.

Gavin Wong

The fact that jojo is winning instead of the big 3 just shows they are truly not a real anime watchers - Naruto is the one you should watch

Gavin Wong

Yes referenced but he won’t know. There’s no point watching gjntama if he doesn’t get the references until he watches them first

Frentzy

jojo s1&s2 are different than s3-s6. In s3 you get "stands", in s1-2 you don't have stands. I am telling you should watch a little bit of s3 and skip s2part2. Start at part 3 ep 1, watch from there, see if u like the concept. You already know dio, and he gonna be main villain. I say this because the show changes SO MUCH that It's almost another show ._. So it would be fair to judge it as a different show part 3 jojo. and not compare it through the lense of s1/s2

Frentzy

ye idk why people keep =.= recommending reference shows. It's like the more you know the more you can understand gintama. His exp is so low that he would have to rewatch it 10y later to actually understand everything.

Frentzy

First comment that actually says it right. Watching a "small" big show is the way to go. To check the investment of time he makes see if it's worth or not. If he picks hunter x hunter or jojo, around july/september he's over and he can decide if he wants another big show or it's not worth anymore. Other picks would imply 1.5-3 years x_x

Frentzy

Agree with all you said. I'd THO recommend you on boruto skip ep 241, to around 275-280+. Cuz it's like 30 eps of filler and then you jump into main story. Boruto has around 60eps, rest out of 290 are filler, so if you at least want to have an enjoyable time just watch those 60 rest skip. Those 60 episodes are high quality and on par with naruto/naruto shippuden, the reputation come from the rest 230 filler eps.

Frentzy

Why would you call =.= people not real anime watchers. Just because "top 3" is naruto, bleach, one piece. Doesn't mean they have to win. If someone has rewatched naruto 3 times on their own. Watching 4th time might not be that appealing for them. At the end of the day you're suppose to vote what you want to "Rewatch" not what he needs to watch first. IF some vote that "naruto" should be first, but then those people who voted do not come to twitch and watch it together with him, then it's pointless. Point is to come and show and watch together, and I believe not everyone will vote with that in mind. (this comment wasn't about you but generally). And if everyone is naruto/one piece/hunter x hunter, in comments but somehow "jojo" is winning, then maybe it just means most people who say to watch big 3 shows, won't come on twitch. Personally From a twitch perspective, jojo would be the most "fun". THe amount of banter, jokes and memes it would create it would be gold. There would be "little" to spoil for chat too compared to the rest which the spoiler group will be there 100% I might be wrong idk I vote with the intent of being there and picking a show that will mke me want to go on twitch everytime he streams that show and not with the intent on what luke should watch first.

Rey

I see, I think I'll do just that, I don't usually skip filler, wasn't even sure if this part was filler or not, but it was just so cringeworthy that I just couldn't for the life of me continue it, alright, thank you very much.

Laffy

I watched whole Stardust Crusaders. My next part was going to be Diamond is Unbreakable. I was thinking season 1 (Jonathan/Joseph) season 2 (Jotaro)

Oh Well

Why not watch some of these anime by seasons? Instead of watching them from start to finish, you can divide them by season so that you can have a different taste from each as well from time to time? Just a suggestion! :D

Oh Well

Fair enough, though I see Luke's humour is pretty aligned with Gintama's, but that can wait. Also, do you think it would be better if Luke watches some of these anime by seasons? Instead of watching them from start to finish, he can divide them in interval/by season so that he can have a different taste from each as well from time to time? Just a thought, so that everyone can enjoy and the anime reactions will vary as well.

BornOfOsiris

I agree. It was my first anime so maybe it's just nostalgia. But minus the fillers, I always love rewatching the series. Never loses that spark for me. If he ends up doing Naruto I hope he just skips boruto though, lol

Facio

My big issue with watching any "long" anime is that many of them are long because they have tons of filler, not because they have long stories. They're designed to go forever and never end. So, I'd only be interested in ones with little to none of that like Jojo or Hunter x Hunter and would immediately rule out the ones infamous for filler like Naruto and Bleach.

Crome18

HunterxHunter all the way.

ShadowNeo

I hope Hunter x Hunter wins 💚

Karen Porter

i actually never bothered much with any of these other than Hunter X Hunter. I liked Bleach but got really annoyed by all the filler arcs. For Naruto and One Piece I just couldn't stand the fanbase at that time when they were airing so I avoided them. They always seemed to think they were better than the other fanbases and bullied other convention goers who were representing not as front running shows. It was extremely toxic.

Crunchy Potato

I think JoJo would definitely be the most enjoyable watch. I do like One Piece a lot more but JoJo is just MADE to be entertaining as hell with much less episodes.

seansky

mmmm i finished a few of these big ones (actually prefered fairy tail over the ones listed lol, that blood boiling OST......) and to be perfectly honest, in my opinion and no offence to anyone (yes you need to say this)...... They all have merits, but some arguements here that it might not be a good choice. Yes i know it was said before that this time slot will not be affecting the current arrangement of reactions, but that extra time slot could have been used to react on other animes too. That 250--300 eps per year could be used to react on another 5-10 other shows a year. They may not be as popular, but at least it is not binding and will keep the reaction fresh (getting different shows in rotation) if you get what i mean. Most of the bigger anime has an element of dragging its feet here and there, whether by filler ARCS (not episodes, ARCS) or having the MC crouching on all four glaring at the enemy for 10 minutes, or having the first 5 minutes basically as recap..... Again, not dumping on the story itself, you know they are well written when they dont get chopped after hundreds of episodes. Do we know if there's other reaction channel that did these big anime reaction before? Did they do alright? Just asking because the other element to consider is that while they are good story, due to the dragging about, the re-watch-ability is a bit lower than other series, so may have to consider viewer retention. Even with shows like Dr Stone I am seeing less "likes" and "comments" on the posts as it goes on, so who knows how that same effect can have on a series thats magnitude longer..... Just speculation of course. Secretly hoping twitch fails to get to 30k subscriber and Luke can either do something else with that time slot, or get more rest...... :D Edit: A recommendation of new form or tournament for that different slot..... maybe do that tournament as a more targetted list, such as "shows older than 2010" or "mech genre only" or "light hearted only".....

Barack O. Llama

I really want naruto to win but jojo or hxh or even one piece are good too

Bryan Duarte

Does someone know which one won?

Talias_Light

I too think it would be too early for Gintama. Too many references for poor Luke to understand (yet).

Talias_Light

I agree. The fillers should be left out, then Naruto would be a great start.

kammahl

so the other question is if something like Naruto or Bleach wins, will the filler arcs be a part of it or skipped?

Anonymous

hunter hunter or jojo would be insane

Soulhind

I'm here for the journey no matter which one wins. But I really hope it will not be Gintama (you need to have watched half of each of the other 5 to understand fully the jokes). And let's go team HxH !!

Ethan Sparks

Trust me, there are more brutal anime out there than Cyberpunk Edgerunners (though maybe not quite as depressing). Those anime just tend not to end up at the top of people's recommendations because not everyone likes really dark anime, and there's a subsection of the anime community that tend to classify anything they perceive to be too dark as "edgy" (e.g. Elfen Lied, Gantz).

Phyllis

If we are talking about the anime series not manga, HunterxHunter is the oldest with the 1999 version released in Oct 1999, followed by One Piece in Oct 1999, Naruto in Oct 2002, Bleach in Oct 2004, Gintama in Apr 2006, HunterxHunter(2011 version) in Oct 2011 and JoJo in Oct 2012. My vote would go to the Big 3 or HxH. Can't believe no one actually recommend HxH to you until the last minute. Good work to those who recommended HxH. Gintama would reference many other anime in their story so I think watching more popular anime like the Big 3 first then watch Gintama or else you wouldn't understand the reference and don't get the comedic factor of the story. Jojo is different is all I can say. I'm leaning towards Naruto since it is the only one that is actually completed. I do not count Boruto. Boruto will be another story for the future. Bleach finally got picked back up after on hiatus for more than 10 years and finally at it's final arc. One Piece is one of the greatest anime and one of my favourite but it's long. I prefer to watch your reaction to 1 or 2 series that are shorter first before watching One Piece. HxH(2011) is also a good choice as it is the shortest compared to the Big 3. It will be funny to see your reaction to Hisoka! XD Kekeke~

Ethan Sparks

If My Hero Academia was on the list I would vote for that, because I think it's the best shounen anime in the last 10 years, but out of the ones presented I'm gonna have to go with Bleach.

Some0neElse

"is there an anime where you see the MC from teen to 60" Yes. Its called Naruto. In episode 1 Naruto is like 12 and by the latest episode of Boruto (which is considered part of Naruto series) he is about 32 or 33

Dersimcan Bulut

I am really honest and wanted to say because of one piece I think It would be pretty hard to do a reaction on it because some arcs are not just long but the episodes are really slow. In case of Bleach and Naruto it would make sense to skip the fillers. Thats why I think for a long anime first time it would make sense to watch HxH because it has a good pace and not too many episodes the same is true for JoJos!!!

Jeff

HunterXHunter is good good. It is a shame that a lot of people dont watch the original 1999 version before the remake. The mood is just so much more.

Dersimcan Bulut

I forgot to write about Gintama in this case a reaction would only make sense about the serious episodes they are literally called like that because the funny episodes most of them are japanese jokes even though I didnt understood them I laughed anyway hahaha

Vitaliy Kozoriz

BLEACH is the most atmospheric anime from this list, the first opening and its continuation years ago are proof!.

Ben

Normally I would go with one piece, but I feel like you would love JoJo's also how dare you pause right in the middle of the epic jojo line in the intro lol

Ben

Yes I love the dubbed one piece openings, no one reacts to them or really even knows about them it's a shame. Also dubbed one piece is definitely slept on because of 4kids

Ben

@Animeter, dubbed one piece is actually good, the reason why everyone thinks it is awful is because of 4Kids awful version of it. Funimation did a good job and usually does with dubs. This is coming from someone who prefers and mainly watches subbed.

Ben

Bleach is good, but the weakest of the big 3 imo, the power scaling makes absolutely no sense a lot of the time and it has the most filler of the 3, there's at least 1 arc that is basically entire filler, but introduces characters from that filler into the main story so it's a bit confusing if you skip the filler

TSP

But Naruto is a complete meme? I don't like Jojo but saying "only real anime watchers like Naruto" is one of the most autistic things I've ever read. ALL of these, with the exception of Gintama, are normie/tourist anime - which Luke is fine with given that he likes that Attack on Titan slop so much - but this isn't a poll about that. Naruto, out of all of these, is honestly something he should watch in his off-time with his children instead.

Mike Baker

*Adds Sword Art Online to the poll as a spoiler vote* 😝

Spikà

God would I wish Gintama won this.

WhiteDragon6

Personally I would have voted Fairy Tail but I think my favorite ones on this list are One Piece and Naruto. Would enjoy watching any of these though!

Brandon Woodward

I’d recommend Hunter x Hunter or Bleach, both shorter than most the others and easier to get through. The only real part of bleach that drags is a little bit of the Hueco Mundo arc but the pay off you get in the new seasons is insane. The final parts also coming out next year at some point so there’s the possibility that you catch up and watch it weekly while it airs

Brandon Woodward

Skip the filler in bleach and it instantly becomes the second or third easiest to get through behind HxH or JoJo, I think it’s the easiest to finish out of the big 3

Nathan McCabe

If you watch 20 episodes a week of One Piece You'll catch up in about a year.

JustMonika

one piece is my favorite, its amazing theres good fights funny moments, emotions ride high and low, and theres little to no filler. naruto is also good. but theres a solid huuuuge chunk of filler near the end of naruto og, and bleach is great but sadly is 70 percent filler. of the big 3 i recommend one piece>naruto>bleach

NurayY

I feel like ppl who propose Jojo‘s are just trolls lmao. Imo hunter x hunter would be the best choice since it‘s shorter but has many entertaining elements to it. Even tho my heart will forever lay in one piece! I feel like you would enjoy that one the most tbh since it aligns with your interests about the sea and seriously no one would complain about going on a one-time journey through the world!😩 You can literally just switch of reality and dive into the grand world of One piece, it is just incredible (the childhood me would die if one piece won🥺)

NurayY

For being the oldest anime out of these, one piece surely has good animations starting off than like naruto. That shit looks like the first anime ever created in comparison. You really have to like and accept the style to not get bored.

Ethan Sparks

Not even going to explain why? Is it because you think mha is bad, or because you think another anime is better? Let me guess, it's Demon Slayer. That seems to be everyone's favorite right now.

SkyMina

Imo Naruto would be the best to start with , almost everyone that watch anime know Naruto. One of the biggest and also have bunch of memes. For one piece, i don't care or won't even dare starting to watch it. I swear that i won't watch it until the day i died. Bleach, Jojo and HxH is alright and it quite short. I wouldn't mind enjoying it with you. Gintama might be weird to watch since there's a lot of inside jokes and you wouldn't be able to catch since you need to watch more anime. I can predict that chat will be really annoying if you didn't recognize it.

gunchar

HXH(or even YYH) would make the most sense going by that logic, cause that's the biggest part of what has inspired Naruto besides DB.

SkyMina

I haven't watch HxH or even YYH yet , but i respect your opinion. There is no logic going on tho , it just my opinion. Oh one more , i didn't complete watch DB.

Anonymous

I have been a big anime fan for years, but I never watched any of these. sadly, I'm not interested either. so I'll just wait for you to watch something else I like :D

Hatoma

It's normal to refuse to watch one piece for somes reasons. 1- This anime is freaking long, 1000+ episode, if you don't have time you will never have the faith to catch up. 2- The anime is mid tier if you're honest, the manga is way better. The anime is way too long, some scene are useless (plenty of them in wano) and the animation is good only a few times. Their is a lot of another reason, but i find this two enough.

Ale

I dunno which one will win, the only thing I know is that Gintama has to go last, it's a parody and even if it has its own plot, there is a loooooot that you will miss just because you haven't watch Shonen jump series lol The best to start will be HunterxHunter follow by Jojo's, since they are the shortest among the 6. Also I believe you will like HxH a lot. We'll see how that poll comes around

Esia Lee

Hands down Naruto is the one you’ll enjoy the most and that means mostly shippuden

SkyMina

I read the manga and i preferred it that way , ain't no way i will watch the anime.

BRUNO Marques

Hunter x Hunter is the most mature anime, even if it may not seem like it at first, the anime is "complete" but the overall story isn't and probably never will be. Gintama is a parody of shounen anime, and is also sometimes a proper serious shounen. Bleach is great, but skip most of the filler as it is generally not good with few exceptions. Naruto is fantastic, you follow the mc from young boy until adulthood. OP is 1000 eps long and ongoing, good luck sir. Jojo is jojo.

Gabriel

I don't comment on anyone's taste, but this comment says a lot about your age, both physical and mental. You can say that the show itself would be better than the ones from which the mentioned characters come, but how about the writing of the main character... You are probably the type who says that Demon Slayer and Chainsaw Man are top anime. Too sad

Gabriel

I'm not saying that he shouldn't watch HxH as well, but I'm saying that it would be better to start with another show from the ones mentioned. There are already quite a lot of anime content creators who start with HxH or Naruto and I, being a subscriber to several, ended up being quite irritated seeing that protagonist who only does about 2-3 notable things throughout the entire show, here and the fact that Killua is more appreciated by the fans. If you wonder why I don't say anything about Naruto, it is due to the fact that the protagonist is not really that meaningless and can be easily overlooked when it becomes irrelevant in various situations.

bjorken

Hunter x Hunter!!!

Valrenas

Hunter x Hunter is a great place to start, it's the shortest of these 6 and as complete as it will ever be, but there are some incredible moments throughout the show. Everything is very morally gray, there's a LOT of death and the character progression, while they don't 'age' during the course of the show much, is amazing. The characters, both protagonists and antagonists, learn a lot from each other and their personalities get pretty complex.

Diffy

Why is a JoJo's even on this list. Hunter x Hunter is always the best choice. Phenomenal show.

Valrenas

I think the order of enjoyability for you with these shows would be: 1: Hunter x Hunter 2: One Piece 3: Jojo's 4: Bleach or Gintama 6:Naruto I put Bleach and Gintama together because it depends a lot on similar things. Gintama is a complete satire at the start, with a hint of plot followthrough and then becomes pretty dark in later seasons. Bleach keeps it's somewhat more serious themes throughout, but sprinkles in completely ridiculous humor and a couple pointless filler arcs

maratreus ,

Anime: Release date - Manga release date. HxH: 2011 - 1998 JoJo: 2012 - 1986 One Piece: 1999 - 1997 Bleach: 2004 - 2001 Naruto: 2002 - 1999 Gintama: 2006 - 2003

maratreus ,

Things to be aware of: Bleach, Naruto and One piece are heavily influenced by nostalgia. The One Piece community agrees that the first episodes are not that good. Gintama is a comedy and parody. (I don't think you will get most references yet)

maratreus ,

Being good anime is extremely different than being a good anime to rewatch and see someone react. For example, AoT had such a success because we can see the references and hints to the truth at the same time that you react to the big twist, deaths and is confused. Re:Zero is similar. With that said I think One Piece, Naruto and Gintama are not like that.

LUÍS FERNANDO GOIS LOBÃO

One piece is definily like this. There's loads of reaction worth moments, plot twists, revelations and foreshadowings. They are just spaced out a little more.

Anonymous

Gon is the most meaningful and unique protagonists tho… I get that you are tired of seeing him everywhere, but his character is the most unusual for a shonen protagonist, because while most of protagonists are the good guys who fight for good causes, Gon is extremely complex and has depth in his character, because he does not fit into a cliche and doesn’t act because of some sort of idealistic views, which is why he is probably the best shonen protagonist ever made. I won’t spoil anything here, obviously, but if you watched the show you’ll get what I’m saying. While I absolutely respect your opinion and you are free to dislike any character in any anime, it is at least weird to call him “meaningless”, when entire show is a character study for a protagonist

NanoRyuusei

I will never understand how so many people love Jojo, personally I found it stupid and boring....

Addstir

Oldest I believe is jojo's by when it was being written? Longest is one piece... I pray it doesn't win purely cause in the time it takes to watch one peice you can watch a combo of ANY 3 of the anime on here... Remove Naruto and you could watch all the others pretty much twice in the time for one piece... Darkest? Hunter x Hunter probably, if not then Jojo's on technicalities? Bleach is probably the most light hearted since it's true to og og shounen, then I'd say Naurto and One piece are about even, I have no clue about Gintama but I've seen an amv that had a seemingly very sad scene?

Addstir

Luke just said Cyberpunk and Hellsing would be the most messed up he's seen?! My man forgot about Made In Abyss and Re Zero... Both having literal psychological torture, gore and overall depressing stories. As for 18+ in of itself I believe 0 anime he's seen are 18+, but Made In Abyss would come the closest due to nudity, gore, and stuff that'd be spoilery.
