1:10 "... Frieren the Slayer" Title Drop! What's funny is that's ACTUALLY the title of the series. The creator did one of those Japanese word tricks - exploiting the fact that there are a LOT of Japanese words with multiple meanings. "Sousou no Frieren" could mean Frieren (something like) who goes to funerals. But it also could be Frieren the Slayer! 24:14 I didn't hear no bell.

Both are great, but I like the weight of this one for character development and the fights. 10 is great just for THAT moment.

Fern at this point definitely seems to think she's not that strong compared to other mages because her only point of comparison is Frieren, one of the strongest mages of all time.

Ep 9 was badass already too, i rly like Ep 10 for sure, but i think i like 9 a little bit more because of the action which is imo more and better as in 10 but this is my opinion :D

You keep calling Frieren underappreciated or underrated, but it is far from it. It's currently #1 on My Anime List's Top Anime Series and many are already saying it should win anime of the year. Apothecary Diaries is much more underrated than Frieren. As soon as the season is over, people will probably be looking to have it on your Twitch poll or be a replacement for Frieren after that's done as it's also a show that some requires you to pay attention.

I love how the main cast has no chill when it comes to fighting: Stark pulled a potential suicide move, Fern shot out Zoltraak the millisecond Lügner didn't pay attention and you've seen what Frieren did to Draht, but that's nothing compared to what's coming.

When Frieren says she things you are stronger than someone else, you need to listen. She told them they were stronger. It just took them believing it. Also, the little spin Fern does during her slow walk assault always catches my breath.

I'm not sure i would call it underappreciated either as its a great show but i can say its definitely not as popular or as hyped up as a bunch of other shows so its in a bit of a weird spot. I don't see Frieren becoming some cult classic that will last decades just based on current reception but at the same time i do see plenty of people appreciating it as it is genuinely a good show.

By the way, it is not a really important info, but " Kusuriya no Hitorigoto" means "The Apothecary Monologue(s)". not Diaries. The ones that are already watching the show will understand the meaning. But let's put any spoiler aside. I hope that Luke will react and enjoy the series with us. ^^

My Anime List: Highest Rated Anime of All Time Luke: It's so underrated. Yet I'm still not sure he's necessarily wrong because it wasn't giving a perfect 10/10

Luke, the necklaces are not charms, they are some kinds of proofs of nobility or famous knights emblems? That is why Frieren could identify them. For example, there is one knight that have the same necklace that Duke Granat lent to Fern. Meaning that's his son (the same guy that could move inside Aura's submission). As her name "the Guillotine" says, Aura beheads her zombie soldiers to prevent the same thing to happen again (No head → No free will). So, they are not armors, but headless soldiers. Also, Frieren deciding to use a dispel magic instead of an annihilation one was her way to show the deceased knight respect to be allowed a proper burial. a "Sousou no Frieren" thing. ^ ^

Frieren is a baby born from Slice of life/癒し系 + Epic badassness. I'm quite a simp for this concept. Also, as Luke mentioned, you don't need to scream (as in classic shonens) to be badass!

It really wasn't an underdog though. It was the number 2 most anticipated show of the season on anichart before it aired. Only losing to one major sequel series (Spy x Family) while beating out three other anticipated sequels (Shield Hero, The Eminence in Shadow, and Goblin Slayer). Its Manga had already won quite a lot of awards. It was basically guaranteed to be a success once it aired as long as madhouse put even an ounce of effort. As it should be obvious to say, they absolutely put a lot of ounces in. Like, I can't wait for people to start saying shows like Witch Hat Atelier, or Sakamoto Days are sleeper hits from nowhere when they get adaptations. Despite their already big manga fanbases. Manga only series in general have a tendency to be overlooked before an anime releases. There are exceptions of course (Kaiju No. 8 and Dandadan), but those are typically shounen jump series with tons of money put into their marketing. Absolutely nothing against Luke, he's relatively new to this whole anime world. Heck I don't expect most long term anime fans to be really looking into this stuff. I'm just crazy (also read a ton of Manga). But yeah...Frieren is really not underrated. Absolutely amazing, a 10/10. But it's really hard to have ever called it underrated.

For something very under the radar: Land of the lustrous. It has an odd animation style (it's motion captured) but it's pretty good. Unique setting.

The attacs of the demon girls are definitelly life thretening and as Stark said it himself, he was prepared for them to kill each other. He just has bigger endurance, because of his training with his teacher, and because her attacs are weaker (not weak, just weaker), he is able to go for longer. If he fought the same way as before, he would die, but he changed it i bit and stopped to defend, withouth a care for dying and because of that was able to get her of guard. In your words, she does just copy the moves, but its not like you copying Rocks moves, she is still a demon, she is powerful, just not as powerful as his teacher. If his teacher power was say 10, she would be probably around 7-8, her technique, which is a perfect copy of his master technique, is what puts Stark in defensive, that and his lack of confidence.

I don't think that Freren is the best anime of all time, but I'll be happy if FMAB falls down the rankings, it's not deserved to be in the top ten, and it's still in first place...

Fern's expressions are much like Frieren; however, you can see times when her expressions slip. At 17:46, you can she her gulp in fear from having to fight Lugner. She's deathly afraid of fighting, but she continues on because she knows she must fight - much similar to Stark, but with a bit more confidence. It's not until halfway through the fight that you can see that she realizes that her training allowed her to surpass Lugner - much like Stark's realization.

Noice animation, Phony Stark not just won his match, but also made on opening for Fern, cause Sukuna was strong enough to keep the fighting going on💪. Waiting for next episode 🔥

Some of the cinematography in this show reminds me of Fate Babylonia, but the art style and stylistic expressions have a unique and whimsical nature in Frieren that really stand out

What Luke said here really reminded me of "Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town". The MC there gets trained by all these incredible badasses, but he thinks he's weak because everyone around him is so strong. But then when he goes somewhere where that kind of strength is unheard of... Awesome show/manga.
