The ending scene of Subaru crying because of losing Rem after everything he went through with the ost playing just hits different

Luke being happy for "normal sized" reactions, but little did he know that Re:Zero went to the lengths of buying commercial slots to get full 30 mins aired for season 2. :P Enjoy the ride, season 2 is quite the treat!

Honestly it's the most incredible thing I've seen an anime do; especially with how often they skip the opening and ending. They really crammed everything they could into Re:Zero Season 2 and I love it

A thing that isnt very clear in this episode but very important. That scene when subaru looks at the knife in Rem's room next to her bed is supposed to key us in to how he killed himself many times but he never could go back far enough. The scene we see is after he has lost all of his resolve and hope of saving her. Its super sad.

The first half of season 2 pushed what I love the most about Re:zero to the forefront and it is my favorite part of the whole show!

The reason why some episodes are few minutes longer is because the studio wanted to use every minute they could get. So they themselves bought the ad time and almost always skipped the opening and/or ending to maximize the amount of episode runtime. Just to make the episodes as good as they can be, even if it COST THEM. White Fox's dedication is just so insane.

Damn I didn't know this lol. No wonder why the animation looked 'worse' than season 1 (not saying it was bad but not as good as season 1 from my perspective), they must've spent quite a budget to make it happen

for sure! They really tried their hardest with Season 2, despite it airing when Covid hit the hardest! Also, sadly even with all their efforts, so much content was left out, but it's not their fault. Arc 4/Season 2 just has soooo much content that it's impossible to put it in 24 episodes fully.

Yeah, the anime showed only 1 suicide. But in the novels, he died numerous times. He just, can't change his checkpoint which sucks.

And as the Novel reader I can tell You in this moment, that season 3 would be even better than season 2 and season 4 would be even better than 3... Re Zero is this kind of story where it gets better and better as it goes. It can have some annoying settings at some point but after ending whole arc, looking back, You realise that what annoyed you at first was actually rly good.

I can speak ok japanese so the scene with puck at 20:40 sounds more like "it seems I have a connection to that girl as well" (because of deshou at the end) As in I don't remember her but since I do know about the gluttony power I probably had things to do with her

For me S2 is far better, so many impactful moments I can't even count, 10/10 character progression and arcs and a far deeper lore focused plot

Season 2? TIME FOR THE PAIN! 22:45 "Krusch isn't dead?" No, she never died. When you saw Felis over her, Felis was distraught but he still saved her life and reattached (or regrew) her missing arm. Felis is Just That Good. Some people think Krusch didn't get hurt on the 2nd time around for that battle... but there was no 2nd time around. the battle against the 2 Arch-Bishops took place hours and hours before Subaru's save point.

as someone who watched this season weekly, this season has the worst cliffhangers in any show ever and you have to be GRATEFUL you only have to wait two days before the next episode because that full week in between episodes was the most excruciating but at the same time satisfying thing ever

In light novel he killed himself with that knife and was back with it by his throat, instantly cut 2nd time thinking that it was some mistake and only then realizing that his checkpoint changed to the worst moment.

There used to be a joke when this episode came out. What does the author do, when a side female character gets famous and shipped more than the heroine? The side character gets turned into a vegetable.

Subaru mentioned the Return by death next to Rem and a group of people and nothing happened!!! Shouldn't there be a carnige thanks to the shadow hands? The lack of questioning this gift/curse by Subaru is disappointing. And no I didn't saw/read any Re:zero content before Luke started his reactions.

You've got to admit that this was a brilliant first episode into the next arc. Invested yet? Heh. ...but, this is Re:Zero. I don't know of any reaction that didn't get super upset during this episode. Even people who absolutely loathe and detest Subaru's character can't walk away from this one without feeling his loss. The way it grabs the viewer with a barbed hook is damn near traumatic, and yet can't look away for anything. Teppei is such a good writer. I mentioned this in other places, but this is the season where things go from fourth to sixth gear. A lot of questions you've had will get answered, but it shouldn't surprise you that there will be more questions. Strap in. Take notes. There are a lot of details that are easy to miss unless you're like me and rewatch like mad. My only advice for this season is this: Pay close attention to the way things are phrased because some people will tell half truths, some will tell confusing truths, some will state things plain as day and some will lie... but, as my favorite Star Trek DS9 episode put it, they're all true, especially the lies.

The scene where Rem is eaten by Gluttony, you can see some frames of her life with Subaru from the spinnoff story "Sloth IF" where Rem accepts Subarus offer to run away with him. Every year on Subarus birthday, the author writes a different "IF" story that shows what would have happened if Subaru made a different choice at different pivotal points in the story. Each "IF" story is based off the different sins and Sloth is the only happy one.

I read the novels in Japanese, so I can say yes you're right, but also because Subaru at that point simply told everyone that she's a part of the Roswaal mansion. There are so many mistranslations that either completely change a meaning or ruin certain sentences, it's really unfortunate. "Remember?" is the worst translation still for the context here. Sometimes translators just don't seem to care..

Don't worry there might be a lot of sad moments coming along the way But at the Last few episodes of season two it will warm your heart and make you happy. Tapai nagatsuki didn't write this story to be sad. He wrote it to be hopeful that even no matter how many times you fail, you will always get back up and never give up

On episode length: Re:Zero has always had slightly longer than usual episodes from what I remember, even season 1 non-director's cut. They even forego the intro sometimes. I think it's to fit as much in as possible because the story really is expansive.

It's really weird they decided to add her in this season and pretend she was there all along; just feels so forced for the drama. And the author gave her the exact same design as one of the other characters like how lazy can you be?

Fun fact, the reason why the episodes are longer is because they bought out the netwrk ad slots that were supposed to play around the episode so that they could give the episodes extra runtime.

i think the best part of this show is how amazing the subtle things are like at the very end when emilia is talking to subaru and the light slowly returns to his eyes like its so subtle that its easy to miss but it mkaes the scene so much more impactful if you notice how much of a impact her words have on him

As for why the episodes are so long, the studio actually bought all the ad time that would play between the episode so they could fit more plot on each episode, as well most of the episodes straight up dont play the opening and ending credits

Just so you know, so episodes are longer because the director convinced the studio to cut into the ad time to show more episode so he wouldn't have to compromise on the episode content. One episode later was so long it only allowed for just 30 seconds of ad time. Imagine how much of a battle that was to get approved.

There are 2 story tropes i truly hate, 1: ally gets turned against their allies (forcefully), 2: memory wipes (especially of people). The story is good the way its done is good. but man i personally feel pain in my body when these get used, Its the same people have with gore where they don't hate the concept but just cant stand it cause it just hurts physically to watch it. and man this episode again 100% made me feel that way, i love it but hate it.

Haven't gotten this far in the novels yet, but here's my understanding of it: It's more that the rule isn't that Subaru can't say stuff that's kind of sus, it's more that when he says stuff that doesn't directly tie it to the power in a way that's obvious enough, people just don't take him seriously in that way, so it doesn't trigger the "curse" part of it.

They also didn’t have studio nexus on board that animated 10 episodes for season 1 and lots of staff left to create studio bind but as of now white fox seems to have recovered since they’re confident enough to take on 2 3 cour anime around the same time. They’re one of the few studios that actually have an animator boot camp to teach new animators
