Dang, we got the subbed. Personally, I didn’t much like the sub for this. It wasn’t bad per se, but the dub was just so much better. Especially Calcifer. The sub Calcifer wasn’t as good imo.

Howl’s Moving Castle is one of my all-time favorite movies! Definitely give it another shot with more rest and fewer distractions and it’ll make more sense haha. This stream was my first time watching the sub, and honestly I really missed the absolute sassiness of Grandma Sophie from the English dub. I think it would be a great watch with your family.

something for the future maybe: if you ever wanna watch JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, I really recommend it! It's pretty long in terms of amount of episodes, but it's very fun and very crazy

If you or your wife are readers, I 100% recommend the book this is inspired by! It's absolutely incredible but very different. But so engaging and fun and not super long.

The way a friend explained it to me is that Sophie’s curse is more so about how she sees herself. When she’s not confident and sees herself as an old lady (“at least I finally suit the clothes”) then she becomes the old lady. Whenever she displays confidence or at least a lack of self-consciousness (when she is asleep she is neither confident or self conscious) she becomes herself again

Will say this if yah see this Luke some ghibli movies have some good Dub's if it came up Ponyo would be a good one as Liam Neeson, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Betty White and Cate Blanchett all voice character's in it

PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVENT WATCHED THE FINAL EPISODE/MOVIE OF AOT!!!!! So heres a short list of things in the manga version of AOT ending that contributed to people hating it: 1. the realization that Historia just had some random farm guy that we never seen even once 2. Theres a line in the manga while Eren and Armin are talking in the paths and Arming basically thanks Eren for killing 80% of humanity. This in the anime was completely changed to Armin accepting his role in this too 3. in the ending panels (credits in anime) the manga didnt make it very clear how much time has passed and architecture in the background didnt give the idea that too much time passed while in the anime you can make out the fact that probably a thousand years passed between Rumbling and w/e war destroyed Paradis island 4. In the manga its clear that Mikasa ended up with Jean and had family with him... and yet still decided to get berried next to Eren wearing the scarf too Also this movie felt like a fever dream

nah, i think Luke was mentioning the AoT ending or something in the stream. Thats why i wrote it here. As for Jean yeah it could be.... guess that was my head cannon :P Also the comment about the movie feeling like a fever dream was meant for Howl's moving castle

I'm just gonna say not everything needs to be subbed. I know a lot of your followers are die-hard sub devotees, but sometimes its ok to watch something dubbed.

I wonder… Luke… would you consider ever to re-watch Howls Moving Castle in English? It was really well done and I think you would enjoy the Voice Actors immensely 😉 so if you are ever thinking about something to watch, please try the English dub

I agree not everything has to be subbed, but for me this movie is so much better with the japanese va's. I can't take Howl's english voice seriously at all, but ofc that's just my opinion.

Yeah, exactly that. He just sounds like Christian Bale and in my opinion it doesn't fit Howl's character. But everyone has different preferences.

So many people hating on Anime in it's ORIGINAL language...like, go watch the Simpsons, why watch anime at all? If you don't like subs, just learn Japanese. Also Japanese Seiyuu are superior. Sorry not sorry. Ohayogozaimasu (formal good morning) pronounced: ohio (like the state in the US - Go - Zah - E - Mas like master, without the ter). Hope this helps. Gomenasai (I'm sorry) pronounced: Go - Men - Uh - Sigh "What just happened?" They moved...I need that magic, moving sux. "She fell in love with Howl very quickly" It happened at the beginning of the movie, when he saved her and took her floating over the square. ;) "I don't understand" Well, yeah, a lot of this is not in the book, but if you get a chance to read the book, I recommend it, it's not a long read. Overall plot: Howl as a child caught a falling star demon and made a deal with it, so that it wouldn't die and he didn't want to feel feelings. Thus he gave the demon Calcifer his heart. That linked the two, and Calcifer lived in the house, basically as a slave to Howl. Giving Howl back his heart, freed Calcifer, and broke their contract. Sophie, broke her own curse, which just needed for her to believe in herself and love herself. And they lived happily ever after, with the dog, kid and granny witch of the waste, oh and a fire demon. TADA!
