one thing you may have missed during the scene when they're eating desserts. in frierens flashback the dwarf says his favorite food is sour grapes. last episode when she's talking about her strange spells one of them is to turn grapes sour, and I think that implies the strange spells she's collecting is specifically for her friends

Frieren has become my favorite anime for this season. It seemed to come out of nowhere. It does blow my mind that Frieren’s VA also does Anya’s in Spy x Family. There are so many elements in this anime that gives such chill vibes. The ending song, “Anytime Anywhere” by Milet is as beautiful as the anime. Arguably the best ending song this season.

Ending 1 of HELCK has no right to be this good but it is .You could check it out on your free time . I doubt this will ever get recommended . Since people have no taste of their own but jump on the train that is the fullest .

I didn't think much of Frieren at the start. I've watched ahead and I'm finding that it gets better all the time. I think I may actually end up really enjoying it.

It's a very small detail but things like this elevate enjoyment to 10. In previous episode Frieren did some stupid little job that rewarded her with a spell to make grapes, sour ones to be exact. In this episode we learn that dwarfs favorite food are sour grapes.

Great call on Fern's birthday! Atsumi Tanezaki is doing an outstanding job these years, but I think her role of Frieren is my favorite.

I've been waiting for this one. Always like it when a series delves a little deeper into its magic system and the explanation of this overpowered, armor piercing spell becoming the standard as it's analyzed and understood, and a comparable counter to it forming as a result is cool to see, with the defensive spell still having a notable weakness in its heavy mana cost. The way it's shown and built up is great too, since from the start we've seen even Fern is capable of punching giant holes in solid rock, so you assume this Zotraak spell must be something incredible... but then you realize it's been 80 years and it's just not impressive anymore. Time moves on and things get improved upon.

I mean Freiren was one of the four people that defeated the Demon King so that alone would make her formidable.

Military technology always improves, especially in times of conflict. And in this world, magic is every bit as important as tanks and missiles in our world. Just think how amazing and powerful the German weapons technology was during WW2 (80 years ago) and how useless and helpless it would be against modern weapons. It's quite interesting to see the same concept explored through a fantasy setting though.

100% agreed. It seemed like such an irrelevant spell, and yet it was of great emotional value to Frieren (even if she doesn't really understand her own emotions all that well). And this episode taught us why.

I don't think all of them are for her friends. I think it's more like, it gives her the confidence that she will always have a spell to bring happiness to a future companion or friend. As old as Frieren is, I think by Elven standards she's still very young and immature, which is why she doesn't truly connect properly with her own feelings and emotions, so she does these things because she feels she needs to, but cannot put it into words why she feels it's important. Now I have not read the manga, so this is just my guess based on the first 3 episodes.

mmm i dont know, I think im the only one in the world who thinks Frieren is dull, i kept dozing off..... Im watching Frieren at the moment to qualify (in Luke's eyes) and say I completed the season, so I'm allowed to say i didnt enjoy it.... Not counting the more light hearted shows (Shadow, SLF), amongst this season's serious show, i much prefer The Apothecary Diaries over Frieren..... I dont really get the stunning/ beautiful comment from others either, is that in regards to the animation? Maybe i need to stop watching it on my phone lol.

One scene I loved was when the old group was talking about foods they loved and the dwarf said he loves grapes and the sourer the better. And an ep or 2 back frieren learned a spell to turn sweet grapes sour. And that just hit me in the feels of knowing she's collecting spells for her old companions.

That's not the point here , there are people recommending something because they like the show .Not because the music is good . I recommended the ending not the show. Doesn't change the fact that I have to skip like every second video because the recommendation is trash .

my favorite anime opening of the year is by far and above the ending theme for Insomniacs After School, and it really sucks that the series as a whole has largely been ignored by the greater anime community. Having to share a season with Oshi no Ko didnt help lol

I totally agree. In my opinion, insomniacs after school is probably the best romance to come out since kaguya finished. It just felt like such a real relationship between such a real and silly couple of idiots instead of the whole "characters are as mature as they need to be, though they're in highschool" which was so refreshing to see. I heard a season 2 has been greenlit, but the announcement has yet to come

who is playing.. a game and skipping all side quests ?? :DD personaly me by the time im done with main story.. most of not all side quests are done :D and sadly.. im loosing all interest in said game :D (not always, there are exceptions)

I love how this anime shows how time can change so much. In this episode you have a demon that had one amazing spell that made him so OP that the party that killed the demon king couldn’t beat him and had to seal him away. 80 years go by and in the process this OP spell gets so over analyzed that it’s become the basics of modern magic.
