I feel like saying Fate is based on a hentai is a bit of an exaggeration. There are like 3 very mild sex scenes in a game over 50 hours that doesn't really focus on the sex, it kind ignores it actually. It is like saying Game of Thrones is porn, and Game of Thrones has way more sex scenes.

Its Not a hentai game but people say it is. Its a different kind of game called an Eroge. Hentai games focus on adult content, Eroge can have adult content, but usually focus on other things like a dating sim. The nuance is there but isn't well known.

It's so obnoxious when zoomers call FSN a "hentai". There are like 4 sex scenes in an 80+ hour game. That's like calling any Hollywood movie with a bedroom scene a "porno". Which is basically all of them. The same idiots will call Baldur's Gate 3 a "masterpiece of writing" (it's not) that is TOTALLY DEFINITLY NOT just a sex game.

FSN was written back when it was thought, correctly or not, that visual novels had to have sex scenes or they wouldn't sell well enough. And it kind of shows in how much of an afterthought the scenes are.

Can't wait for UBW so chat can continue to spam spoilers in the chat as if they have tourettes. Like I don't get it at this point are people in chat so devoid of social awareness that not only Luke could get spoiled but anyone in chat who hasn't watched/read/played the series could get spoiled as well? Been something that's aggravated me in all these vods, the sheer lack of respect some chatters have to both the rules and other people in the chat and it's not subsided, if anything people have become more direct and explicit with the spoilers. Saw people spoiling a certain characters motivations and reasonings for something in Heaven's Feel, seriously that's not even alluding to or giving unnecessary lore/infodumps that the series will get to, it's outright spoiling a major part of a story. I hope they're getting banned and not just a stern finger wagging because that's just as grating because it fosters it. Other than that really enjoyed the reactions, just a shame no-lifers in chat need to flex their Nasuverse knowledge because it makes them feel better about their blank CV's and empty trophy cases

Regarding other viewers, while nothing justifies spoilers, watching an anime for the first time in a reaction video and constantly looking at chat is probably the worst possible way to experience something. Now when it comes to Luke, I would say it is almost impossible to give him spoilers, he understands half of whats is happening on screen and forgets the other half in a week, and he does rely on the chat for explanations a lot. He still has great genuine reactions that are enough to balance out those flaws.

That would be all well and good if there weren't clear rules and commands in place that state contrary to what everyone is doing. The problem is for new people watching is that even if they fullscreen or watch on a vod, the chat is there, this might be how they want to consume certain media, or perhaps they were wanting to watch along with Luke to see if the fate series was something they'd like to continue after Zero. There's been plenty of times I've sat with friends to watch something I've seen but they haven't, some people go to the cinema and watch with a bunch of friends or on their own surrounded by strangers, some who may have already seen the film before. It's not up to you or I to judge or say what is the best possible way for them to experience something and it shouldn't be their fault if they get spoiled in a place where the main reactor is also going in blind. There are risks of course, but it can easily be mitigated by sterner moderation and as a community doing the best job possible of countering that behaviour. This behaviour shouldn't be tolerated or excused to any degree, if someone is watching for the first time it doesn't take a genius to recognise that they're very likely unaware of what happens in the story and to keep schtum. If Luke asks for explanations on things he's already witnessed, fair enough, even stated as much in a previous comment here, but regardless of whether he remembers spoilers or not, it's an unnecessary, selfish, rude and aggravating behaviour that should not be given any leeway at all. In response to your comment about Luke having genuine reactions, agreed :)

You do make a good point of not being up to me to decide what's the best way to watch something, it is a matter of preference how one would enjoy something, and if it is really hard to avoid the chat, better moderation would be the only solution as you said.

Now that the series has ended, I'm going to explain some things, both for Lucke and for the Patreon people who may not know what's going on. 1.- Let's start by explaining what FATE is. FATE is a game (a visual novel) in which the story changes depending on your choices. 2.- What is the FATE universe? It's a timeline that branches off into different parts of history. This happens due to different events or different choices made by some individuals. If you've watched Steins;Gate, this will be easier for you to understand. *I'll leave an image with some of the branches (The image is edited to simplify the explanation and not confuse too much). 3.- What are the FATE series? The FATE series are simply adaptations of these games and their different branches. 4.- In FATE, there are many things that are not explained, and the little that is explained is scattered across all the series. So, you have to watch all the series at least 2 times, ask someone to explain it to you, or go to the Wiki. 5.- What is the Root (Akasha)? It is the root of everything, where all the information is stored, the force, where all the souls go, etc. Think of it as the white place with the door and The Truth in FMA. It's what every mage wants to reach. 6.- What are the Servants? To explain it simply, it's a copy of the information (The soul) of the Heroes in the Pantheon, summoned by the Grail. When the body dies, the information returns to the hero, and they gain that knowledge. 7.- What is the Grail? This is divided into two, the Holy Grail (or Lesser Grail) and the Great Grail. - The Great Grail is the gateway to the Root. - The Lesser Grail (the one seen in the series) is a wish-granting machine, a bridge to the Great Grail, and it stores the souls of fallen heroes so that their energy can be used by it. It's not as omnipotent as people believe, wishing for something like "Save the world" without specifying the desired method is not enough and can work like a monkey's paw. 8.- What is the Grail's vessel? Until the Third Holy Grail War, it was a cup, but in the Fourth War, the Einzbern family decided to create a homunculus with its own will so that it could defend itself. This homunculus is Irisviel von Einzbern. 9.- What happened in the Third Holy Grail War? The Einzberns decided to summon an extra class of servant, an Avenger, which was replacing Berserker. But it was very weak without any abilities. When he was killed and his soul returned to the Grail, it corrupted it, allowing "evil" heroic spirits to be summoned. 10.- What happens at the end of Fate/Zero? When Irisviel dies, Avenger takes her information to communicate with Kiritsugu. During the final battle between Kiritsugu and Kirei, the Grail emits black mud that envelops both of them. Although both enter a dreamlike state, the Grail recognizes Kiritsugu as the victor. Avenger uses Irisviel to confront Kiritsugu in his mind and ask for his wish, however, this action comes at a very high price. In his mind, Kiritsugu is forced to confront the fact that his methods, which he had practiced his entire life, will eventually lead him to become the ultimate enemy of all humanity, just like Avenger himself. ''''Irisviel'''' proclaims that this is the right path, and Kiritsugu, realizing that the Grail is corrupted, eliminates all his loved ones, including the illusions of his wife and daughter. As he rejects and strangles ''''Irisviel'''', Avenger curses him to regret his actions until the day of his painful death. I forgot an important part. 9.1 - Avenger is Angra Mainyu, a ''Hero'' and the Persian God of darkness (mentioned when Kiritsugu is in the Grail dream and when Kirei talks to Gilgamesh while naked). He was nothing more than an ordinary villager who was randomly chosen by his people to represent the 'source of all the world's evils'. He was continuously tortured until he lost his sanity, and he was blamed for everything that happened on the planet. Angra Mainyu was surprised by the lack of sense in the matter, until he finally began to wonder who he was supposed to hate. However, he only felt rage and hatred towards the world; towards the people who had executed him without any mercy. His forced sacrifice eased the troubled minds of his people, who, despite it being involuntary, qualified him to become a heroic spirit. I apologize for my English, I know it's not very good and I'm using ChatGPT for help ;)

thats why I always hate twitch chat in watchalong, not just they give spoiler but they too always distract luke attention whenever Luke just see chat a bit to check for donation or subs they like talking something OOT outside the anime currently watching then make Luke talking some OOT too.. and yes ,sadly they cant selfcontrol about spoilers too and makes me even hate twitch chat more and more every watchalong to the point I trying ignore twitch chat but when Luke distracted because of chat its makes me read the chat too -_- and like I always says in every watchalong comment "Fvck that twitch chat who always need social awareness" but yeah other than twitch chat ,I always enjoy Luke Reaction too just hoping in the future when Luke react Anime ,he activate emote only when watching then open chat between episode if they want talk something to Luke and hopefully not Spoilers and OOT

I had a family event and sadly missed this live but I have some (spoiler free) thoughts: 1.) Fate Zero is a prequel, I personally think the ending feels a bit unsatisfying until you dive deeper into the world of Fate and realizing that "it's just getting started". That's just my personal opinion, but it gives you more to look forward to. 2.) Waver staring down Gil on the bridge was an amazing moment, Gilgamesh showed him more respect in that scene than he did anyone else in the series imo. 3.) I (subjectively) think Fate Zero is the darkest Fate, you're correct to say it's BRUTAL. This one hit me the hardest in terms of just feeling "this is pretty f'd up..." 4.) I loved every moment of your journey into Fate, thanks for stepping into our fandom and thanks for inviting us to join you along the way. 5.) now you gotta watch the Fate cooking show, "Today's Menu for the Emiya Family"

You aren’t wrong, but all 3 routes of Fate are a continuation of Zero, you are only meant to watch/read it in the correct order (Fate, UBW, then HF), but knowing the reputation of 2006 Fate, I would assume it will be skipped. (Which is fine tbh since the Ufotable anime adaptation did ok connecting Zero to UBW.) Zero is the prequel to all 3 routes to begin with.

Yes, I have played the original VN. All routes are good, but UBW is also made by Ufotable and is a direct continuation. Heavens Feel is meant to be watched after UBW, since it assumes you already have seen the first episode and Rins Episode. While they are all equal continuations, there is certainly a correct watch order according to the Ufotable ones.

The whole thing with Kiritsugu and Maiya vs Kiritsugu and Irisviel is that Kiritsugu knew from the moment he met Irisviel that she would die during the war. It was a given that she neither would nor could survive this Holy Grail War. He very likely knew Maiya for quite a bit before and Maiya could have survived. So he had hardened his heart for the death of Irisviel, which is part of why he kept on being sad when he was around her and limited his time around her. While Maiya's death came out of left field. Maiya is someone he took in, kinda like how his master took him in... Though he does ofc bang Maiya, which makes things a bit different. As a sidenote, i am pretty sure that it is mentioned in the Visual Novel that Irisviel knows that he is banging Maiya.

Lets be fair to Kiritsugu. In the grail, he was choosing between a life where the only living beings was him, his wife and his daughter and a life where his wife was dead but where the grail didnt kill everyone else. So if you were stuck choosing, it is basically your wife vs every living being in the world. Sadly, he ended up unable to ever see his daughter again and the grail spilled out stuff to kill a good bit of the city. But for his choice, he made a good one.

@fraad I kinda disagree on something. So I've been part of twitch watchalong for a long ass time by now and what thing I can attest is that, this is the "worst" i've seen so far. Out of every anime he ever watched on twitch. The people got HORNY in writing borderline spoilers. Like the excitement was "so high" for them that they just couldn't stop writing. I've never seen this amount of 'I need to spoil' sensation I felt from people in chat. So when I read things such as : there should be EMOTE only. I disagree. You know why? Cuz mods already do it. Mods did set emote only almost constantly in the last 2 episodes. The amount of questions luke asked made people go nuts. Either way I think some questions should've been answered by chat such as: "he killed his daugther wtf?" Like on the spot that's what he believed, then he realized 'wait it's not real', then he read chat and chat confirmed his belief, but he still got pissed on the representation the anime went with (why it's fine getting answers to questions? cuz when I watch with a friend I ask him when I need to know stuff, I pre-spoil myself to make sure I get something by asking, it's a way of watching something, it's called instant gratification, you get your info & you're satisfied on the spot, no need to wait another 5m to get it). Overall most watchalongs are "fine", people behave respectfully. And 90% of the time is COOL. This enter in those 10% cases, and this was the worst so far i've seen. so the 1% of the 1% of cases. Those are the same people who watched eminence in shadow, slime, 86, spy x family, kaguya,etc. So you have to keep in mind =] that, you shouldn't enforce permanent rules only when it happens so rare. PS: about why he should do chat awareness is because he is streamer, he needs to OFFER attention. He is paid for that attention. People sub and people send $$ messages so he can read. It's a "benefit" for him to read. I get it that everyone want him just watch without chat, but no one would pay.. so it wouldn't exist that content z.z cuz that's just watching for free.

Im so heartbroken everytime i see Kariya's (Berserkers Master) story. He gives up a completly normal life to save a little girl, endures so much suffering and so much pain just bc he doesnt want a little girl to suffer and how does it end? He dies, gets eaten by bugs and the little girl he tried to save insults him and... everyone who has seen how it continues knows how remembered Kariya is... what his legacy is, no one even mentiones him. He was basically dead but still managed to get to Sakura bc he wanted to save her so much. As always love the reaction, RIP my boy Kariya, best master by far.

Luke, if you really like Waver as a character, I heartily recommend you check out the spin-off series of "The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II" which follows the story of Waver in his adult years. It is outside of the specific realm of the Fate series, but it does share the same world.
