Horimiya is mostly comedy with a solid romance background.

Ancient Magus Bride is great if you're interested in mythology and folklore. It's an interesting mix of fantasy, horror, and romance set in a very captivating world. It might not be the most popular anime but its definitely worth a watch IMO.

Horimiya is one of my favourite romance anime ever, if not my favourite. It is pure, undiluted romance. No action, no comedy, no mystery, just romance, and that's why I love it.

Romance anime at it's Roots would be something like Maison Ikkoku, Orange, Kimagure Orange Road, Golden Time, Saikano She is the Ultimate Weapon.

Full on romance and with less comedy and recent, I would say The angel next door. Horimiya has some comedy as well but it is as good as you probably heard.
