Of the dark trio, both Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man managed to be better than the manga imo, meanwhile for Hells Paradise the manga is better. The anime is still really good but I can see why fans would be dissapointed given the track reckord.

The Shogun aren't the ones on the Island. For reference, a Shogun is basically a top general in Japan at this time in history and the Shogunate is a military based government. The person who sent them to the island is the Sei-i Taishogun, which is basically their version of the Commander in Chief. So the Shogun sent them to the Island but didn't go themselves (that we know of anyways). So you are partly right, the Shogun ARE scared of the island which is why they sent the criminals and the Yamada Asaemon (the sword testers/executioners) to the Island instead.

Oh, I was very much surprised when Eizen (red hair guy) got munched on. He seemed like an important guy to me. But there are better characters out there anyway (Chobe). While yes, the manga looks obviously prettier than the anime. I still enjoyed the anime very much.

You really need to watch Demon Slayer and Hunter x Hunter. You would love each of them and HxH would show you how good shounen anime can get.

You really have to watch Bungo Stray Dogs, you'll definitely love it, I cannot describe in words alone how good it is.

Hell's Paradise isn't rated low, it has a bit over 8 score on MyAnimeList (#402 best anime). I think around 8/10 fits the anime, it is good and enjoyable, but it has some flaws and it isn't the most ground breaking anime (season 1 at least, but later on it does leave you wanting the season 2). Maybe the subset of people who you have talked about it was just "bad luck", from what I have seen people like it, it just isn't a master piece or anything.

I'm glad you are enjoying this anime. The animation really suffered since it's a side project compared to jujutsu kaisen or chainsaw man. The manga was really interesting and one of the best I've read. The anime does kinda injustice to the original but not by much. I would gladly recommend to read the finished manga since the anime covers merely the beginnings of the story.

Everything you saw was real, but only because some characters look dead doesn't mean they actually are, that's a rule for watching anything really.

The characters you currently know don't have any supernatural abilities, they are just superhumanly strong but it has nothing to do with anything supernatural. Even the fire that Gabimaru can seemingly summon out of nowhere has and explanation isn't supernatural.

For a patreon only reaction, if you want to continue with the dark theme I would recommend checking out Aoi Bungaku after Hell's Paradise. It's a series of stories based on famous Japanese writer's literary works. About 2 episode per one story with a total of 12 eps (6 stories). It's unique and has some serious thoughts and messages put behind them. The type that makes you think about it after you finished them. Definitely masterpiece level. But even if not for a reaction I would still recommend giving it a try.

Shogun means something like 'supreme commander' or basically the top-dog of the military. A daimyo is a big general or warlord. Regular samurai are like knights or elite soldiers. Ronin are samurai without a master, similar to mercenaries.

Funny that you say that, I dropped both Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen after about 3 eps each because I didn't find them that interesting and in fact found them to be the same story. HP was the only one I finished and liked. Also nice pfp, hopefully they remaster the original three or even just the first two.

Both Jujtsu Kaisen and chainsaw man haven't had the parts of the manga adapted yet that lands them the glorification they receive. Whilst Hells Paradise is a fairly short manga series so what you see in season 1 is what you get and its adapted a heavy chunk of the series. CSM and JJK first 3 episodes are very poor indicators of how good their respective seasons 2 will be. You've also missed the original comments point. Hells Paradise is under fire for being a bad adaptation of the manga no one is saying its worse than the other two, just the other two improved on the source material

The opening is clearly earworm quality and the live action MV is rad too, but it’s the ending where I always get emotional, Uru has that kind of timbre in her voice, can’t really explain. Endings are generally under-appreciated, imo, often more ballad-like, less catchy, but still great. I know you like quite some ending songs to 86, Chainsaw Man, more, and have reacted to a compilation before. Below is a short but sweet up-to-date top 100 endings comp. Ninjas are far from bandits. They are elite force who mainly do special missions that are issued mainly by the lord they serve. There are a few ranks among them, but the jounin they mentioned for Gabimaru's parents means that they were experts even among the ninjas.

I can get how long Japanese names seem intimidating, but the #1 thing to remember, to make them easier, is that vowels always sound the same in Japanese Also, Japanese is a syllabic language, so that helps me, even with long names like in this series: A-SA-E-MO-N I-WA-GA-KU-RE You'll get it eventually!

He says its poorly reviewed because there are nay sayers out there with humongously big mouths, basically people who have the slightest turn off whenever they see "cgi" or animation thats not of their preferred quality and they claim the anime is garbage or mid.

It has a score of 8.16/10 in MyAnimeList with 551k members. It's not poorly reviewed. It's just that there are some people that had very high expectations and when they complain they complain really loudly. I agree that this show wasn't as good as it could be if it had a better director and an overall production quality closer to that of JJK, but it's still a good 8/10 show for me
