Inamui

Going to channel my inner YouTube comment section… FIIRRRSSTTTT!!!!!!

reesespieces342

So happy seeing you react to this brilliant show!

Inamui

But real comment time this is probably one of the best isekai around atm and I’m glad you are reacting to it can’t wait for you to see the later seasons aswell

Sean

Hair color can drastically change with age. I had light blonde hair until around age 11, now I've got dark brown hair.

Some0neElse

Why was he looking the other way? I believe its a reference to Power rangers. I remember them doing weird poses like that and looking in different directions from their enemy

Victoria Pritchard

You sons hair might get darker as they age, my brother was blonde for most of his childhood but now has medium brown hair, no hair dye, google it if you want more info on how that happens but it's common apparently.

Green Bitch

Yeah the weird parts definitely make me like this show less but the animation, action and world building make it worth watching

Frentzy

22:00-24:30, he blurred that scene, with naked kids, he says naked kids = blur, and if u want to watch naked kids then just go watch yourself. Then can someone tell me why made in abyss weird scenes weren't censured(there were also naked kids). I just wanna know the thought process, why made in abyss not, but this yes, both were suggestive, both show NOTHING, same scenario one get blur one not.

Daniel Griffiths

fair enough on the censorship its somewhat understandable... but can you please leave us the subs? XD

Kamil Butala

Comon i couldt wait for today lets goo :)

打音玖珠

dropping everything I was doing to rewatch this amazing show

Keith Merrington

Just want to point out - if you blur scenes, try not to blur the subtitles as well otherwise we can't follow along. As far as I can remember, there is only one more extended period of nudity (totally non sexual) and if you blur that (with blurred subtitles) then you might as well skip that episode.

itaral

I think the main character avoided looking straight at the bullies cause it reminded him of uncomfortable things from his past life but i read the novel so long ago that i'm not realy sure.

Keith Merrington

Rudy is a kind soul really. He has some f'ed up ideas about sexuality and social relationships, but he cares about people and just wants to be liked. His weirdness all stems from the social isolation he suffered in his previous life. As far as making relationships with other kids, Rudy has the same attitude as he does regarding sexual attraction - 'come one, come all'. He'll befriend adults or kids alike. Also, he is physically a kid and socially backwards so he's more kid like than adult like (at this stage).

Keith Merrington

There's nothing sexual about the scenes he's blocked (which is the usual reason for censoring nudity), but you can understand the discomfort. Especially as he has young kids himself. Our society usually takes the notion that nudity = sexuality, even though that's not a case you'd support rationally. Also, the scenes in MIA did not show full nudity. The nude bath scene (with the dad) in this episode didn't get censored, just the bits where Rudy was seen fully naked. Personally I think that censoring such innocent scenes makes them look like they are something suspicious or objectionable and draws more attention to them than just letting them play.

i_am_jam

He did say just before he doesn't know how he feels about putting that in the video for now/feels uncomfortable with it, its plenty enough of a reason

Patrick Jacobsen

Mushoku Tensei has incredible world building. I pretty confident you will enjoy it... even the "cheeky" bits.

Frentzy

@i_am_jam. I completely agree with the choice of censoring, but it's a first for me, cuz I thought not censuring made in abyss made his point clear on what he censor and what not. But censoring similar scenario z.z made me confuse

itaral

Also tbf the nude scene wasn't sexual at all and by blurring it we can't see characters expressions/demeanor at all but personally i don't mind cause i have watched it already a few times however first time watchers may have worse experience.

Kamil Butala

For the moments that happened with naked bodies etc ...i dont say i agree ... but i dont say i disagree as it is what would actualy happened there in real world as well if you got to the situation like that so it is realistic but also off... as maybe you could get from internet before it is a very controversial show especialy becouse of fact that happened in his past life that was in manga but it is not shown in the anime at all... i do not wanna spoil you :)

Kamil Butala

Also could you react on youtube on Mushoku Tensei season 2 opening full MV by: Longman and name of song : Spiral Not actual opening but full version of song... its my every morning song to fill me with possitive vibes and energy it is just so good i am sure you like that style or maybe not but i am pretty sure :)

fili0938

Just a heads-up, there is one specific scene a few episodes from here that gets really disturbing, but it never gets that bad again. If that scene was even close to the norm I wouldn't be able to enjoy this show. You will know what scene I'm talking about when you get to it. All I'm trying to say is if you're on the fence after watching that scene, stick through it.

Keith Merrington

I don't really get why 'the weird parts' bother people so much. I know what you are saying, but that's no more reason to me to not like the story, than (say) all the violence and gore in Vinland Saga is a reason not to like that story [Edit: Vinland Saga is a great anime BTW - if you haven't watched it then you really should. It is awesome].

Guilherme Vergne

Since you said something about it, the isekai genre is divided in 2 big classes, "tensei" wich means reincarnation, and "shokan" wich means invocation. So if the character still with the same body, its "shokan" and if its a baby or other thing its usually "tensei", today we have a lot of these, such as freaking "reincanated as a vending machine".

Keith Merrington

I know the scene you are referring to. There's no nudity in that scene. There is full rear nudity (Rudy's) for most of a later episode - I'm worried that'll be butchered, because it is a great episode IMO.

hussam abdelalim

no need to be on the fence about the protagonist he is a piece of sh*t, but this is part of his ark, he never had a chance to really live in his previous life so even though he died at 30 he has no true social understanding or interaction other than what he had seen on the internet ..........which was mostly porn, that does not a person make.

Muligan Shinzuo

the censorship was totally fine and i appreciate that you tried to atleast show part of the scene instead of just blurrying the whole picture.

Keith Merrington

I think most reacters go with "if it's safe enough for Crunchyroll, then it's safe enough for me".

Animeter

Thank you for reacting to this great show!

FaerieRose

If you want a show about an adult reincarnated as a kid, but with a much less questionable main character, I’d recommend Ascendance of a Bookworm. It’s about a young woman who loves reading that gets reincarnated as a poor child in a society that lacks the printing press, so only the rich and nobility have access to books.

Manuel

What episode are you talking about? I cant remember a episode with longer nudity

fili0938

One exception is Kazuma. They say he's reincarnated but he's granted his own body.

Tasel

Rudy's quirks and brokenness I think is what does this show well. It's not just "oh honey guy horny, or sad guy becomes happy. It's an issue of a flawed person given the chance to regrow up. He's still influenced by his previous self, but also gets the ability to re-experience firsts again and reteach himself. He'll never be perfect, he'll always be flawed, but he's always trying to be a better him, no matter how many time he keeps failing and going back into his old ways. His previous fears and overcoming of the outside world at the 2nd episode is a great example of that.

KeanuofRivia

Something that I've heard that's not really covered in the Anime is that in the source material Rudy was actually quite terrified of the bullies and his legs were even shaking, despite the fact that they couldn't possibly have hurt him. It really highlighted his past traumas with bullying

Daniel Costello

“I like Paul as a father” 💀

Arctic

people try to pin Rudy's relationship with Sylphie and another character soon to come as "Grooming" but its not quite like that because he genuinely just wants to be friends with them. In both cases he became friends with them without ill intentions by just being himself. People try to pin down his desire to apologize as grooming, but rather it is more along the lines of Rudy being groomed into a better person. I personally think of Rudy as a new person who just inherited wisdom and personality from his past self. But you'll learn more about his character as the story progresses. The characters are masterfully written as is the worldbuilding

GorillaSpaceCult

A lot of characters in MT are complex and flawed and the show is unapologetic about showing the good and the ugly bits. Definitely makes the relationships and interactions more dynamic and 'human'.

ZabluLobsta

Yah, this anime can be so Uncomfortable at times, thats why it isnt a show for everyone

Flutter0Shy

Well, Kazuma in the afterlife did choose to be in that world so totally was not a "forced reincarnation", just a reverse summon(?)

smth positive_

Yeah I’d like to remind the people complaining that they’re mad about the censorship of child nudity who cares if he left it in in made in abyss this time he didn’t. It’s his channel he can cut out whatever he wants

Krusigx

ngl i also love Paul as a father, he has his mistakes but he tries to right his wrongs. He always cares for his kid first than anything else which makes him a top tier dad in my book.

Daniel Costello

True but he also did something that we will see next episode that is a little harder for me to forgive

Tatersalad666

The scene that you blurred this episode is definitely the most questionable scene in this show, at least to this point, so you won't need to do as much going forward I think. I took Rudy not looking at the bullies while talking to them was that he was really nervous confronting them, probably due to his being bullied in his past life, and the only way he had the courage to stand up to them was to not look at them directly.

Soulseller33

The whole thing abouth Mushoku is Character Development. Yes Rudy has some really weird stuff going on, cause of his past life. But the whole show is about how he overcomes this and trying to be a good person. Keep in mind, that his situation is really unique. Yes he is a grown men (in his mind) but on the other hand he was extremly socially awkward and isolated . And while his mind is that of a grown men, his body is not, and both of this is merging to a "new persona". I hope you stay open minded like you are and give this show a real shot, its absolute worth it.

Euan Thompson

Yeah, he clearly didn't grow up normally, in some ways he's a creepy 30 year old guy, in some ways he never grew up beyond being a teenager

Tatersalad666

I love Ascendance of a Bookworm so much. I really want Luke to react to the openings at some point. i think a lot of people put it off as a silly show with no real plot, but that couldn't be further from the truth. It has so much depth to the character and world building and the plot really picks up as the show goes along. Also the light novels are incredibly well written and give so much more detail than the show is able to go into.

Keith Merrington

I don't want to give any spoilers, so I'll just say episode 14, Doldia village. Edit: Just checked that episode out again, and it's not as bad as I remembered. Might not get censored at all (hooray).

The Luminary

Ah more Pedoku Tensei staring Rudy Kelly and Paul Cosby

Sasane Sane

A small thing about Sylphie that doesn't show in the translation: in Japanese, Sylphie uses the pronoun "boku" to say "I" about herself. This is normaly a masculine pronoun. This would be one of the reasons of Rudy's mistake. If parenting is your weak spot, you definitely have to watch Erased (Boku dake ga inai machi). Well, you should definitely watch it even if it's not your weak spot.

slipstride

As much as I love this show there are a few questionable scenes in it it's important to understand Rudy is not really a good person deep down he's a person who knows what the good choice is but doesent make it for the right reasons usually its for personal gain due to him being 30 some years old mentally I will say tho past this season there's not much questionable stuff left

Keith Merrington

smth positive_@ - Not really 'mad' at it. It just feels jarring and unnecessary. As though there's something wrong with wanting to see the story as intended. Worst part was the loss of subtitles.

AnimeGT3 .

The show will just getting better and better i promise! :D

Suichoku

As others have pointed, you are free to censor those kind of scene, but maybe typical blurring would be better, since you can then still somewhat see what is happening, without seeing the details). Just a box is a bit jarring, but it might be easier to edit. The real issue is covering the subtitles, since there can be important dialogue and many of us don't understand Japanese. Cheers, hopefully you will enjoy the show. The world really is awesome as you are eagerly waiting, it will fulfill your wishes.

Maurice S

Hearing him say he has a weak spot for parenting scenes and he tears up with them god I am even more excited to see him watch re zero. I am fairly sure he will need tissues at a certain scene :D

Fyeenix

Don't worry about censoring, do what you feel comfortable with. Maybe censor the top 80% to leave subtitles on, but it doesn't happen enough times to matter

GTB

Is Paul a good guy? You'll learn soon enough that this doesn't make sense in Mushoku Tensei. There are no good guys or bad guys here. All characters are flawed. Mushoku Tensei focuses on its characters, their psychology, their weaknesses, their evolution through their relationships. The world is very well constructed, vast and rich, but it's a backdrop for talking about human beings. You have no idea yet where it's going, and the narrative structure. How exciting!

Dat_Saucy_Boy

Totally get why you'd want to censor that scene, even on patreon, and i agree that if people have a problem with you censoring child nudity that's a little wierd. However I've already seen the show so I more or less know what was said in the scene, but covering up the subtitles might be a bit annoying to those who haven't seen this before.

ArtKi

16:01 Paul's character arc through this series is a WILD RIDE and you're just entering his roller-coaster.

Sebastian garcia

the song at 30:30 is Naked Hero by Vaundy. Not an ending tho

_TKD_

I think the best way to describe Rudy at the start of MT is emotionally stunted

BanTheUndead

Light or blond hair in young kids is somewhat common, it usually turns brown by like 10 but my hair didn't go brown until I was a teenager

Colm Barry

"It's nice for Paul to get a bit more camera time" Looking forward to tomorrow's upload already

Talan

is the schedule for this show friday and saturday?

Kot Bajun

I hope he does. The Ascendance of the Bookworm light novel is truly wonderful. Such a well written piece of literature, really. Anime is 3 seasons deep and I hope it’ll get more of them one day.

Douglas Streck

This show is really questionable until episode 8 or so. After that it gets a a lot better (except for one character). If you manage to get through this first part you'll see how amazing this show can be.

rostikowb

I haven't read the book, but if we talk only about the anime, it's completely empty, without details, depth, plot, drawing, it's not bad, it just doesn't evoke any feelings

Jacob

yeah totally fair take to blur, I assume its much different in japan where they have open baths but as westerners it can be very uncomfortable to see.

FinalMasterM

Btw, please don't spoil or heavily hint at future events in the comments.

Link

The censoring is perfectly fine, there shouldn't be much like that needed in the future, though there is an even more uncomfortable scene in a few episodes. That will be the big start of a turning point though so please get through it and keep going.

FinalMasterM

Something about Roxy's panties though. While he originally took them due to his perverted past life, they became a "holy relic" that he actually does worship in honor of Roxy for everything she did to help him start living a life not bound by what ruined his past one.

XT 421

Don't feel bad about censoring - they're your videos, you gotta do what makes you comfortable. There's a lot of culture class with the depths and core of Mushoku Tensei that a western audience may not jive with, but the guy Rudeus was before is decidedly an awful human who wasted his chance at living and became pretty depraved. This show is like his big redemption arc - he wants to be good, but he is still learning how to do it right.

Paddy

Can’t wait to see his reaction to ep 15 & 16👏👀

Darian Torres

I was like you at this point , interested to see where it goes but not yet hooked . Once the world is explored more it will be a blast

Kitsune

In some animes have no problem not censoring the young boys because it's either a normal thing in jp culture or it looks comedic, especially more often in the older ones around 90s. I just mentioned since I noticed you also saw it from when you were reacting to the Dragonball opening songs. It's understandable people other people would find it uncomfortable and by all means, do censor your videos if they're uncomfortable.

Obscuremango

As Rudy is as he is. He locked himself away at a young age. So he was always stuck at mentally 14 for all his life. So that's why he's the way he is. Childish. But ye it's the same for any reincarnation story.. this just follows him through the years.

Matthew Williams

There are very distinct and very particular reasons for Sylphies hair color, explaining those reasons is a VERY HUGE spoiler. Without spoiling it someone in her recent lineage gave her a recessive trait that caused her to have that particular green hair color. This one scene of Rudys short sword is actually the only reason we had to do this series in Patreon, there are plenty of very questionable cheeky moments but this one scene of unedited blatant nudity is it.

DeathAtNoon12

you're gonna love this anime much more in a couple episodes, and the second half of season 1 is just filled with adventure despite not even scratching the surface of the world

Taraster33

I totally respect the censorship of those scenes. In this case the subtitles that were blocked did not matter much as we all could figure out through context roughly what was being said. But if another scene that has important dialogue and needs to be blurred, reading out what is being said, or writing what is being said over the video might help

BRUNO Marques

Green hair has significance but is not immediately relevant besides understanding historical events in this world, you learn more as the show progresses. Paul didn't have a great childhood, understandable he doesn't know how to handle his own kid. Jap has no cultural aversion to showing the junk of boys, Dragon ball did it repeatedly, and many other children anime do too.

Paul

I feel like there is only one truly unforgivable scene in this show(ep6). After that scene Rudy appears to learn from that mistake and is generally on the path to becoming a better person from then on with a few hiccups along the way(never as bad).

Orkidaisy

I'd like to recommend watching the movie Wolf Children, since you resonate so well with parenting. It's such a beautiful story about single parenting.

Keith Merrington

Yeah - In Japan, public nudity is mandatory at an onsen (or sento). Not a big deal there.

BooBerry

“If you don’t like that, you’re a bit weird”. LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!

Jc

should also add that it also Aired on regular Japanese TV uncensored so at least culturally that scene really isn't anything bad. But understandable by people not from japan to feel weird about it.

chengstax

*raises hand* I'm one of those people whose parents never asked questions. It was always 'do what I say, shut your mouth.'

Drakemark

Tanya is Reincarnated as Kid as well xD

Nathan McCabe

It's funny that you say those scenes... when you haven't seen nothing yet. I'm sorry, It gets worse. But there will still be great character development and sprinkles of world lore.

Green Bitch

I don't like perverted main characters in general. Especially the extremely creepy obsessed with panties types. I don't mind sexual content, just hate the character.

_____ Rasse _____

It's fine if you blur stuff out, but can you at least keep the subtitles unblurred so we still understand everything that's said in those scenes?

Emilis2023

Show's a bit slow in terms of world building, but when it gets going, it really gets going!

Emilis2023

In terms of the "questionable content" honestly I feel a lot more uncomfortable with Made in Abyss (especially the manga) than I do Mushoku Tensei. Now that's not to say I don't like MIA, I think it's even better in a lot of ways. But in MIA there's a lot of fan service of children on display that feels like it has no other purpose but to be fan service. In this show on the other hand, I feel like it's very intentional and it's showing it as a character flaw that should be condemned and overcome. It's just as uncomfortable at times, but it's just realistically addressing uncomfortable things that do exist in our world.

Anggst

Blurring is fine, I don't remember much other such scenes, so there won't be too many scenes to blur.

Andrew Wallace

dude its your content, do what you want with it. If you dont feel comfortable showing certain things its your choice to not show it. nothing wrong with that.

Rocco Laudadio

I'm fine with you blurring what you want, but I wish you didn't cover the subtitles.

Aaren YASS

At first thought, censoring scenes seems counter to the purpose of the anime bein on Patreon, but on second thought, hes probably following patreon guidelines which makes the censorship understandable. Just try for something that doesnt block subs. -

Aaren YASS

to be fair, its not his fault he thought Sylphy was a boy, considering she uses masculine speech like "boku", very very tomboy. -

_TKD_

I'm not gonna complain about the censoring because, in the end, it's 100% Luke's choice whether he wants to censor it or not. But as someone who has watched at least 10 different reactions of the whole first season, I at least want to mention that, excluding copyright issues, absolutely all of Mushoku tensei is technically safe even on youtube TOS-wise, with light blurring similar to your usual blurring on youtube, and yes, even the 2 scenes of Rudy being shown fully naked in ep1 and ep3 have been perfectly fine in multiple of the reactions I've watched

Katsuo

About the hair colour of your kid, when i was a kid, i had almost white hair, now i've got almost black hair. It just darkened over the years, so maybe your child will have the same hair colour as you do

Mihaly Szamak

He didn't enter adulthood in his previous life. He lived an existence where he didn't become a man at all. Yes he has the knowledge of a 30 something male in our modern era, but without any life lessons or skills to be an adult. Also that knowledge is also a laser focused one on hobbies and porn so not really a head start. We also saw how much his trauma stuck with him, so I don't really see this anything else than a new start with debuffs. In many ways he would have been better off not remembering his old self.

Thui

I love your little talking between the scenes. That's the point of watching you waching something isnt it?

Anonymous

I know this is irrelevant, but you should check out "Bluey", it's an incredibly adorable show about kids and parents it's very cute, you probably already have heard of it

Jerid Glasspoole

yeah as a 80's kid parents would listen to other parents and if they lie to them about you to justify their kid than you're getting an ass-beating even if you're the one in the right.

Jerid Glasspoole

you never watched Dragon ball? Goku as a kid ran around naked all the time, and you see his little twig and berries. That was normal for 80's and 90's cartoons made for kids even, even the well-known classic Ranma1/2 had naked shots. seeing someone naked was not something that was seen as a big deal back in the day (80s and 90s.) at least.

Kyle Smith

So what your saying is the show is doing it right. Every show with great world building and character writing starts off a bit slow because you have to build that foundation. The reason why it is able to pick up and really get going later on because they take the time now to build that foundation.

Marc Lucksch

If I had a nickel for everytime he mistook Sylphy for a boy...

Technosage

Rudious was saying it makes him pissed off. But they bully him just for his hair Translation error.

kiwi

"I'm liking Paul as a father" HE DOESN'T KNOW!

Matt Tucker

Nah its the exact opposite, Rudy IS a good person deep down, but its covered in layers of fucked up shit from being stuck in a room and emotionally stunted for 20 years.

scalien

Never have anything you are not comfortable with on the channel..

River

its a 35 yo man, in a naked childs body, forsibly undresing a little girl, wihle shes crying and trying to stop him, it is not, by any standerd, an innocent scene

River

he is 35yo man, being in a child's body doesnt change that

Rosario Grasso

If you like Mushoku Tensei up to here, then you'd probably like The Beginning After The End. If you like reading manga (or in this case manhwa? (It's originally in English, but the author is Korean so it's technically a manhwa)), then TBATE has a similar starting point of and man dying and being reincarnated as a kid, learns the magic system, et cetera, but diverges early enough on that It isn't a carbon copy of this.
