Waaaait a minute, I know a horror (I think). Parasyte. You heard of/seen Parasyte yet? I do wonder if its harder to make long running series dedicated solely to horror and that's why there aren't as many of them, or maybe they just don't get as much popularity?

Recommended horror anime: -Higurashi: When They Cry -Another -Shiki -Blue Seed -Gegege no Kitaro -School-Live! -Memories Don’t watch the Ghost Stories dub. It’s not popular because the anime is good; it’s popular because they threw in as many racist, homophobic, and all-around offensive “jokes” as possible.

"Shiki" is one of the few real horror anime that you haven't really interacted with so far, it has some really good opening to boot. Something that is a little more Outer Limits or Twilight Zone would be "Boogipop and Others"

I think part of the reason there isn't horror esque anime. Is due to the part Japanese horror is in a different vain of horror it's more psychological horror. Which in anime don't really feel like true horror imo. And it's not really horror but a good psychological mystery style anime is called erased.

I recommend Shiki Openings 1-2, Paranoia Agent and Texhnolyze Openings. Also Ousama Game Opening by Coldrain (the ones who did the Fire Force Metal Opening)

The anime is definitely better but if you liked erased I recommend checking out the end of the live action if you haven’t already seen it or read the manga. The live action/manga give a much better backstory to a certain character that explains their actions a lot better. Aside from that main point, the story is more or less the same.

I'd say the Author Junji Ito comes to mind when it comes to horror. Sadly his manga don't always get the best adaptations.

You should 100% watch either Ghost Stories dub, or watch the funny moments from Ghost Stories dub compilation.

For horror anime I would recommend Mononoke witch is a really underrated anime and I only know a few poeple who has seen it but it't really a masterpiece. Oh yeah and creapy as ... It's quite dificult to undertand the storyline beacuse it is heavily focused on japanese folklore but it is GOOD!!!
