Aaren YASS

One of my fave episodes of the series. Iruumyui is too pure for this world, her voice actress steals the whole show only rivaled by Reg. Her screams are so impossibly haunting and piercing. Lots of emotions and trauma, just like good ol Made in Abyss 😂😭

dragonguard666

Back to limbo you go Castlevania.

Gai Valentine

Yeah with the early residents of Orth that Iruumyui is a part of, the only way they can confirm if she’d be able to bear children is the exact way you’re dreading. Which makes her an even more tragic character 😰

Rimtia Crowing

Sadly I must say that it get's kind of annoying with the forgetting names to this degree thing, especially if you could guess that it is a name of the person someone is talking to.

Michał Jastrzębski

Vueko is that red haired girl ;) As for wishes, its not about what you consciously ask for. Its a cradle of DESIRE, remember? It gives you what you desire deep down in your heart. And you better have that desire really, REALLY precise down to a detail. Irumyuui wished to be a mother, most of all. One of issues being, she's a small child from a neolithic level tribe, and doesnt exactly have much of real knowledge how child bearing works, or human anatomy for that matter. She didnt preciselly desired kids to be able to survive - she just wished to HAVE them - and so the artifact didnt take that into account (its not an evil thing, just dumb).

Matheus Vitali

"Is what is Vueko?" the new "Who is Prushka", hahahahahahah

Gai Valentine

First episode Vueko was r*ped many times presumably and also had her vag branded with hot iron by that monster which is why she can’t have kids most likely.

Vincenzo

Luke I hope you read this comment, it's a couple of important clarifications. 1. The death of the creature is not unnecessary, if you notice Irumyui's "children" look a lot like that creature. 2. The fact that Vueko has had hands-on experience with Irumyui's diarrhea shows how much she actually cares about her. 3. It's not official, but apparently Vueko satisfied everyone's "needs", which is why she smells like many people. 4. It's quite official that the blue-haired girl who is always with her is in love with Vueko. In the manga there is also a scene where they have sex. She would then be the one who transforms into the one-eyed hollow. It's not a spoiler because it's never explained and I think it's an important detail. If what I wrote contains spoilers, tell me I'll delete or change the comment, but I don't think it's the case.

Gai Valentine

After everything that happened in this one episode, the show makes it clear that you’re supposed to realize that Iruumyui being a simple minded child, wished for the recent pet she lost to come back, to be a mother that she always wanted to be, and for her new family to be healed. But she couldn’t make that into a single wish so some kinda lovecraftian god or something combined all 3 wishes into the horror you just saw.

Hakimchi

IT BEGINS. THE REVEALING.

LemonSaucyPants

vueko has had a lot of sex cuz she was r*ped like in the first episode of the season

Uzair Islam

The wish-granting egg is a monkey's paw, in the sense that it grants you your wishes but with horrible caveats you couldn't have foreseen.

Animeter

She wished for having children and not to lose vueko and the other people. The egg granted her wish in the most "made in abyss" way...

Suichoku

Vueko smelled like one who had a lot of sex, because as in episode 1 was shown she was abused and raped repeatedly as a child. She did also have sex with one of the girls on the camp, but it was only shown in the manga (blue haired girl). Also, be careful what you wish for, especially in the abyss. Things often aren't what you hope them being

Vincenzo

I know this, but I don't think Irumyui can smell anything that happened like 5 years ago, that's why people say that she fulfills the needs of all Ganja.

Wolfe980

when you said whats vueko been up to, she got raped a lot as a kid which was kinda shown in like ep 1 or 2 when that old fat guy was on top of her pinning her arms down

Rimtia Crowing

About the Wish Granting Egg, who said that the egg just fullfills one wish, why not all of the wishes, a person has, at once in a twisted combinated way. Just think about all your wished and desires that you have, even the ones that you dream of in a far away future and now try to imagin a divice that grants them all at once, with you as a medium since the relikt can't change anything else than you.

mjaomjao2

The OST that is playing during the baby stuff is called VOH and only a small part of it is played during the episode. I hope you react to the full song sometime. It's probably my favorite OST in the soundtrack.

mads

Krusigx

last episode when its gonna get better than seasone 1, well it just got better

Pete Bickmore

I think it’s important to understand that the abyss has no concept of humans. So when the wish is ‘I want to have children’ the abyss has given her the ability to have children, It doesn’t know how that works, what those kids are or how they are meant to be formed or even survive, the abyss has zero clue of. That’s why it’s said that the wish-granting egg is so dangerous because it just grants wishes, but in a complete surface level way.

Animeter

Fun fact: the Anime is censored. In the manga you see an lesbian scene between vueko and the blue haired girl.

LordDanzo

And the spoilers have begun. After last week with someone spoiling things about episode 9 and doubling down after being called out, now we have people explaining things that would have been obvious in the next episode. At least Luke isn't getting spoiled because he's ahead.

GaloTechDog

WHAT IS A VUEKO

Michał Koczorowski

It was not explained very specifically, but Wazukyan, they guy who made that gross stew at the end, has always been described as a prophet, someone who has visions and who can predict the future. It is not known exactly how much he knew since the beginning.

LordDanzo

What someone had asked was to not skip the ED after episode 8, not the after credits. Though by now you've already seen episode 8.

Thomas M

Made in Abyss is what happens when you have Studio Ghibli adapt Junji Ito.

Keith Merrington

Luke: Who's Prushka? What's a Vueko? What anime is this? Who am I? What's going on??? LOL! Also - Mushoku Tensei - Hooray!!

Polish Ambassador

"Who's Prushka" / "That's Mitty" / and now "What is a Vueko?" - I mean thit must be some as of yet undiscovered type of sexism. Imma try it at work. Wish me luck.

Michał Jastrzębski

Also, in manga, she's said to be "taking care" of ganja squad members. Like, in THAT way, aka she's also kind of a sex worker. Hence the smell...

Antony

I understand that you already watched the next episode, so this comment doesnt make a lot of sense. But i just had to get it off of my chest. Man, sometimes you just dont get the simpliest stuff that is thrown into your face. Iruumyui just wanted to be mother, but as you already know - in the abyss all kinds of stuff happen. No one ever said that the wish will be exactly as you wanted it, hence the name of the next episode "The form that wish takes". Its so simple, so it kinda pains me to watch you not understanding whats going on. Great reaction anyway, and soundtrack in this episode was top tier might i add

Vincenzo

I don't read spoiler in the comment session. What are u talking about?

Emilis2023

There are other water sources yes, but they said the biggest issue isn't the monsters, it's securing a route that avoids the curse. This was one of the only ones they could find that didn't involve a path that ended up going uphill one way or the other.

Nathan

And so it begins. (the best of this season starts here)

James Perrott

27:21 had me dying lmao what in gods name did she wish for xD i believe it wasnt a single wish and rather things she wanted the most, which were to be able to have children so she feels wanted again, and probably also to save Vueko and the others, hence the babies somehow being a cure to them. And them being rabbit things because she loved the rabbit thing she had earlier all those combined to make... that..

James Perrott

Dont forget Rikos VA too, her screams with the arm scene were even more horrifying than irumyui here

Hamza Stiti

She just wished to have a child, more exactly to have a body that can have children because she believe that is the reason why everyone abandoned her I think. I didn't cry the first time I watched this but now it got me hard.

Ohms

I'm back for those who wanted to see my reactions! This was sooooooooooo hard for me. Red flags from the beginning to the end. First, basics of survival! Water! But wait, all of the water sources are insane, except for one? Immediate red flag. When they came back and determined that the water was in the calcified (or copperized?) remains of a giant organism, I knew things were bad. It seems like the water itself was the impetus for the transformation, so no amount of boiling would remove the eggs, because the eggs form within the person who drinks the water (my theory anyway). Regardless, this thing sounds like malaria on steroids with bonus calcification. The Wishing Egg... if it weren't for the immediate problem of the calcifiy-malaria inducing water, I would have immediately dropped that thing over a cliff, because the ONLY child of the entire group was In... Inu.... dang i keep forgetting her name (Edit: Irumiyui?). But I completely understand why Veruko, wanting to save everyone and desperate to save this little girl who clearly loves her, would make the decision she did. So many unknowns in this abyss resulting in just... so much horror. And speaking of HORROR. The fusion of the egg with her body, the fact that she was in a painless state in what otherwise would be an excruciatingly painful situation (Clearly a wish of hers), the fact that she was producing child after child (another wish of hers) in this rapidly worsening physical state, painful to look at with no pain, only for them to die because they were born malformed and unable to survive at all giving her constant emotional pain. ALL of this was bad enough. When Wazukyan gave her the stew... I was scared. When it saved Veruko I grimaced. When he said he gave it to everyone I shuddered. With the ending dialogue I SCREAMED. (Luckily no one is in this house with me right now o_o. I NEVER scream) Now for background, I am not against horror. I don't like jump scares, or the tension before them. I did, however, like Fringe (the TV show) where there was a lot of pseudoscience and scary things, which I didn't find scary as much as I thought I would. This episode demonstrated a level of cerebral horror I have never felt before in my entire life. Layer upon layer of horror melded together due to the sheer number of unknowns that they encountered just to get to this point and the horrifying results of those decisions. This also reinforces for me the horrifying nature of the abyss itself. I had a theory that there was some sort of spaceship that crashed deep into the earth and something is radiating out from the ship that is creating the veil of the curse, hence as you get closer it gets harder to leave, and the more powered relics like the egg appear. All in all, this was an INSANE episode and it can only become more insane from here. Speculation on where this goes from here will be in a different post. I need my mind to settle a bit before I continue

Emilis2023

I don't think it's explicitly stated what she wished for, but the ability to have children was almost certainly at least part of it. She may have also wished not to feel pain or to always be with Vueko or to be able to save the team. All of that kind of happened because of the egg, but it's unclear how much of that was because she specifically wished it, it simply read her desires and made them happen, or some of that was just a byproduct that happened to be possible because of her initial wish.

Gai Valentine

There’s no confirmation for a lot of things in the show. But the majority consensus is exactly that. Considering context clues and how fucked up this show is willing to get, it’s agreed to be a very unfortunate but highly speculated outcome.

Ohms

To be fair, given the number of different stories he's watching weekly, I imagine it can be hard keeping that information in your mind sometimes. Its part of the reason I sometimes drop animes even when i like them, I cant keep up with too many narratives at the same time before i start mixing things up. Your suggestion is a good idea though

Plou plus

I don’t know what you are talking about but if it’s about mating this doesn’t make sense, she clearly isn’t old enough to bear children even if you was normal, so she shouldn’t have been kicked out for that reason.

mads

Yeah I totally understand that, it’s just a little frustrating that he puts in no effort to remember anything. It only takes a second to make a quick note of a characters name and maybe a light description of what they look like if he really needs it. I feel like that would be much easier to do than to forget everything and be confused the entire series. It was fine at first but I guess now i’m just a bit annoyed haha

Gai Valentine

We can debate whether or not these fake primitive people understand biology or not but it’s better if you don’t rack your brain over it, man. Accept that this show is dark af. It’s not that serious.

James Perrott

No that did not happen with the hot iron literally what she was burned on the head, and the back. No where else.

Ohms

Ok its ~Speculation Thyme~ Like many people have also posited, I think that Irumiyui's wishes/desires were all mashed into one thing. She wanted to help others, she wanted to be able to bear children (while being too young to know what that actually entailed) and obviously she also did not want to be in pain due to the excruciating nature of the calcify-malaria that was spreading. This resulted in her... near-stillborn offspring having the ability to cure the calcify-malaria when... ingested.... *tries not to barf* Now, how does this transform the village situation into what it is today? I have a few ideas on that as well. I believe that the ingestion of the 'stew' now ties everyone to the wish granting egg. Now, as it pertains to the whole value system, this was mentioned by the Reg-like robots at the beginning. The first clear word they said this episode was "VALUE". They saw the travelers as valuable because they are from a different time and appeared different from the others. So they may come into play as it pertains to the system of value that is set up in the village. It is quite clear that the wish-granting egg is somewhere within the village, likely the center. It also appears to me that the 'Princess' is Irumyui, as their voices sound the same and they have similar eyes. Now is all that body horror that Irumyui undergoing now what allows her to have such a ridiculous;y fluid body later? Who knows, maybe. Though in this case she looks like she was affected by the curse while loved. If she still has the wish granting egg within her and its not in the village, this makes sense for her to be 'the embodiment of all value', and may explain her appearance. Now the questions I don't have right now, is, how is she able to move about while everyone else isn't if the egg is still in her, or did that scene where someone was bursting from a cocoon in the previous episode result in her giving herself a new form, meaning the egg is no longer in her body, but in the center of the village. And since Veruko did consume the 'stew', how did she retain her human form? Which part of this process did she refuse to get captured and imprisoned? There is a second step where people are selling their humanity to buy into this system for survival which has not been demonstrated, and I am imagining this is going to become a lot crazier and more horrible real quick. Though a lot of this is sounding like a much, much more horrible version of those survival situations where people turn to cannibalism due to hunger/thirst, except here its due to powers and diseases beyond their understanding.

Gai Valentine

Seriously? You’re just looking to argue if you’re specifically searching out my comments. This is beneath both of us. Come on, man.

James Perrott

"It's not official, but apparently Vueko satisfied everyone's "needs", which is why she smells like many people" dont just say this as if its true lol. nothing implies she would do that. she has only done it with Pakoyan, that is what irumyui meant. Vueko is not going round having sex with everyone theres lmao what are you even saying

James Perrott

its a literal crime how much music isnt played this season, or not played fully we got the good part of VOH, not the masterpiece part

James Perrott

mads literally no one, no one at all, writes character names and descritions down on paper when watching a show lmao stop asking for such ridiculous things

James Perrott

Are you literally not aware that he has SEEN THE NEXT EPISODE he watches 2 back to back. we can spoil the next episode in this episodes comments because he has seen the next one

James Perrott

Iryumyuis VA is so good, her screams are horrifying... yet she sounds so adorable seconds later or before lmao

mulraf

I mean i watched this show for the second time now and i didn't notice the rape. It was literally 5 seconds, implied. At the first episode of the anime (about 2 months ago). I had to go back to episode 1 now and find what you meant and it didn't look like luke noticed either. So yeah, he tends to forget or not notice some things here and there but that's definitely not something i think was super obvious.

LordDanzo

@Maidiac In this episode's comment? Some people are explaining what exactly she wished for, why and how. By this point you can make a decent guess (as Luke did), but the show hasn't even fully explained what's going on. It's not a fact, it's a theory. In the first 10 minutes of the next episode it will be very obvious, so there was no need to explain it like the anime itself won't do it. Basically they're confirming things that haven't been confirmed yet and using knowledge from future knowledge to do so. As to the last episode, there was someone explaining something that will be explained in episode 9 (about Juroimoh). This one was way worse than today's. If people keep explaining things that the anime itself will do, it makes it a worse experience for first-time viewers that are watching along with Luke. And you can see for yourself that there are some first-timers here.

mads

I don’t think it’s ridiculous for a creator doing this for entertainment, not personal purposes, to keep track of what he’s watching. Many other reactors take notes. It was just a suggestion, not like he’ll read it anyways. And if he’s watching too many shows to remember what he’s watching then maybe he should slow down and focus on one or two at a time.

Sean Wilson

Since you've watched episode 8 already (so spoilers for anyone watching for the first time)... . Those two theories you had towards the end of the episode are probably my favorite of your theories in this series that was incorrect. Reincarnating as her children, Wazukyan actually offing the girl to save them, it's interesting how Made in Abyss can obfuscate the truth such that multiple theories seem just as plausible. The story has proven itself to be as fucked up as it wants to be that, in other anime, these types of theories would be implausible.

Prohibidibabido

I think in this world, it's just very rough living. People dying young seems extremely common so it doesn't really phase them too much.

Daniel Griffiths

omg were getting mushoku tensei XD

Callista

I mean, I will say this because they have already explained it in the anime literally about two episodes ago, and you have already seen the next episode. Iruumyui means village, but also mother. This is also a reminder that you really should check out the ending song fully now that you have seen Episode 8, as it hits way way differently.

LordDanzo

@James Perrot Come on dude, did you even read my comment? I literally said Luke wasn't being spoiled. If you haven't noticed there are first-time viewers in the comments. Luke isn't the only person reading the comments. Are you guys itching so badly to be the first to explain the show in the comments that you explain it an episode too early? This is the first time I see events from the next episode being discussed an episode earlier. And keep in mind that in the comments from episode 6 someone spoiled events of episode 9. That's basically spoiling 2 weeks in advanced. Other than that one, it's not that bad (today's spoilers has very minimal impact), but we should try to keep comments spoiler free imo.

Scott Humphreys

Is that bed ever going to get sheets? That is my question.

Addstir

He watches op's and ed's at the end of a show reaction for stuff he is watching, otherwise it's decided by Twitch poll

Flutter0Shy

Man, I wish for a rain like that where I live- *looks at my eggs* Guys, chill, he realized about "Vueko" like a minute after. And she's a doctor without technology to diagnose so... As gross and crude it is, she has no choice if she wants to know. XD

TheIdIsTaken

You could not remember Vuekos name if your life depended on it

GTB

Told you, man, you have no idea how season 2 is traumatizing. Keep in mind the themes here, deeply human; they are the basis of the events, and of the narrative that will make sense between flashback and present. Water is death, but if they don't drink, it's death too. They are not ok about the sickness. They just absolutely can't do anything about it. Irumyuui was banished and rejected by her family. She's found a new mother figure in Vueko (btw, when she talks about Vueko's smell, it's a tough one because it refers to Vueko's past, when she was regularly raped by her adoptive father, as we saw in the first episode). Irumyuui was deeply affected by this rejection, so her deepest desire was to become a mother. But in the Abyss everything has a price, and relics are dangerous. Everything goes wrong. Banished travellers seeking for their future, a home, trying to survive in an extremely hostile environment that is gradually killing them. A little girl marked and banished because she's infertile. An abused and lonely young woman who's found a family with the Ganja (who are genuinely attached to each other), and a daughter with Irumyuui. true loves. A relic that can give (distorted) reality to deep desires. The thematic pieces fall into place. The answers are coming. The climax and resolution approach...and damn it, you're not ready.

noah van den berg

No, they explained that there were 5 different water sources on this level. The problem were the monsters and with the other one the boiling tenperatures

Aaren YASS

@james, tru, lots of great VAs are in this show. But I singled out Irumyui because she sounds convincingly like a small girl with a believable baby voice, which ive never heard before and it makes everything so much more horrifying to not only sound convincing, but like an actual child. -

Louispul5

No, you're ignorant of biology. She's 12 or 13 and hasn't had a period yet. After puberty starts, if you don't start having a period, that means you're not able to have kids.

Louispul5

Dude, the iron bar went into the camera, not below it. It's why she has a shock of white hair. It's growing through a burn scar. It's why she called herself ugly every time, she's got a big burn scar on her face. That's why belaf, who also has a big face scar, said she was pretty.

Louispul5

Well she might have also done Belaf, the only person to call her beautiful. She smells like a lot of other people because she's taking care of a camp full of sick people.

Louispul5

Nah it gives you exactly what you desire. Just remember the end of the previous episode. "Once you find what you were looking for, you transition into value, and your journey ends." It went horribly wrong for a reason in the next episode.

Louispul5

2 full of monsters, one full of rust, and one so hot even the ROBOTS can't get near it.

Louispul5

There's a bit next episode. This series is so good, you see more every time.

Louispul5

You really ought to listen to the end credits song now. And Ganja are all exiles, political prisoners, refugees, escaped slaves, orphans, etc. What's happening in the abyss is better than where they came from. At least it's nature screwing them, and not people. And you'll see so much more the second or third time you watch this show. They aren't making the plot up as they go.

William Pina

The Wish granting egg isn't like a genie that can grant wishes. Irumyuui wished to be able to have cute kids like the pet she briefly had, but her body is incapable of such things, so it's changing and evolving trying to make her wish a reality.

William Pina

Wazukian is a prophet, he probably instinctively knew what to do to save everyone once he saw all the "babies" Irumyuui was birthing. Also on a side note, I always thought that Bondrewd went down to the 6th layer using one of his clones, fully knowing it would become a hollow going back up, then he simply swapped his consciousness to a new body.

Corvis

Yeah I agree, it’s getting kinda ridiculous now

Edu S.

I really like frickin wakuzyan voice actor more than anyone, and idrk why, bro is just soooo chill

Edu S.

She prolly just hasnt had a period, but idk she seems like 8-9, that is less probable, but still a possibility

Edu S.

Vueko was treating everyone, not fucking everyone, that is why she was surprised to hear that. You dont need to frick someone to catch their smell.

Edu S.

Yeah, so much has been happening recently and that just messed up her desire...

Edu S.

And also recover the dead pet bunny thingy (that looks a lot like her "babies")

Edu S.

I just think it was because of her three desires, the pet, to heal everyone, and to have babies. Abyss has a concept of humans for sure, since they seem to be the only ones who suffer the curse.

Edu S.

Heheheh, this guy has a great intuition, not because of a good or not guessing, but because it makes he feels the best feelings to polish in the next episodes...

Jason Tam

I'm caught up on the manga, but I know it isn't much further then the anime itself. I didn't watch s2 for some reason, so here I am, enjoying it with you.

Zillatain

Oh so people are really pushing Mushoku Tensei? I was pushing for Madoka Magica originally. If Mushoku is "winning," I'm all for it. Reaction should be...interesting. Still want you to see Madoka at some point though. Definitely on Patreon. Would not be a good fit to binge on Twitch.

Raingurr

I wouldn't say censored, there's a decent amount of non integral points left out in every arc of the anime. They at least do a good job of hinting at their relationship, unlike the almost nonexistent representation of a certain set of twins.

Animeter

I think he said, Hells Paradise, Parasyte and madoka going into the Friday/Saturday YouTube slot after jjk

Raingurr

Been loving the speculations, if you can, give the manga a try. The mystery of the birthday death disease continues in this arc but was kept out of the anime.

dragonguard666

Forever doomed to be. Despite previously mentioning he'd watch it after Hellsing Ultimate, which was close enough he made it sound like he'd watch it after anyway, then Made in Abyss came along, and no doubt at some point he'll say after Mushoku Tensei, but I'm not holding my breath. People really missing out on a overlooked gem.

Thomas M

A light, funny, and extremely raunchy anime you could watch for a break from this heavy stuff on patreon is Golden Boy. IMO the funniest anime of all time. Dub is a must because the main character's performance sells the comedy.

ayagoayatem

If you're curious what song was playing this episode, it's "VOH" by kevin penkin. Deserves its own reaction

Ryutsu

That was so well said, god damn you deserve a prize for this

Keith Merrington

It's raw and unpleasant (in an entertaining way), but I wouldn't describe anything in MIA as traumatic. I think you'd have to have a very fragile constitution to be traumatized by a cartoon.

Keith Merrington

Good stuff! Parasyte and Madoka are both great series. I haven't see Hell's Paradise yet though.

GTB

I said traumatizing to mean heavy and difficult. Obviously, I wasn't literally traumatized. And cartoon or not, it has absolutely nothing to do with the impact it can have. Cartoon is not a tone, it's not a genre, it's just a way of expressing things. A lot of horror and thriller films are much less dark, with much more superficial themes than Made In Abyss. Most of them are inconsequential and much easier to watch than, say, Perfect Blue. Made in Abyss deals with relevant themes, has scenes of graphic violence, and features mainly children confronted with a cruel world. Many of the things in Made In Abyss are rarely present and dealt with in other films/series/books. On crunchyroll, the series is one of the few to be rated "for mature audiences".

Spikà

Poor Vueko, he can't seem to remember her face or her name, always mistaking it for someone else, or no memory at all, claiming he has never heard it before. lmao.

Zillatain

Ah. I haven't been able to keep up recently. Nice to know that Madoka and Parasyte are on his "to do."

Hawk of Battle

Welcome to Made in Abyss. Did we mention it was dark? We might've forgotten to tell you... can't recall.

Gavin Wong

vueko is the red hair girl - she just said it in a third person instead of saying i want you(vueko)

Logan Beaver

The sound of the rain in the background felt very appropriate for watching Made in Abyss, felt very atmospheric.

Arctic

Bondrewd has seen alot of the 6th layer. He used clones of himself several times at least to venture there as well as seeing through Nanachi's eyes currently.

Breanne

The fact that the series is unnecessarily brutal, is what gives it an edge over everything else out there. It doesn't sugarcoat things and skim over screwed up things that more than likely would have had to happen on a trip like that. Infection, messed up values, just having to go to the bathroom. I like that it feels real with no punches pulled.

Harley Burnie

12:40 So...Luke. Any chance you caught on to all that kid was saying before this timestamp? I took is as Vueko was captured and well "used" by them, and somehow, to the natives, smells like she has had a lot of "partners." Also, "big brothers" were "very nice" to Irumyuui: idk how old she is supposed to be, because Made in Abyss, but clearly she is of breeding age to the natives. My brain fucking melted the first time is saw this episode.

Harley Burnie

12:55 Dude. Vueko has said her name, or had her name said, many times at this point. The kid is telling Vueko that she wants her to stay with her. :/ Does saying she is "Not-Mitty" help? Lolz.

Harley Burnie

13:15 Okay. It is confirmed. Luke totally forgot episode one. Everything Vueko seemed not important enough to retain memories of her introduction and importance to the arc. O_o

Harley Burnie

19:10 I actually LOVE the sound of rain picked up on the mic

David M

That "wish granting egg" seems to be more Monkey's Paw than Genie in a Lamp style of wish granting. This is likely why it doesn't work on adults, complex wishes are easily corrupted and granting them can easily go wrong. The simplistic wishes of a child are much easier to interpret, and the egg doesn't seem to care HOW the wish is fulfilled, only that it is granted. Irumyui likely wished to have children. A more complex wish than she realized, as the egg granted her a body capable of bearing children, but no consideration was given to them being VIABLE offspring. More like pets.

Aled Jeager

Vueko had the 'smell of mating with lots of people' because she was sexually abused by the man who raised her

draggo

Going through this series a second time and reading these comments is clearing up a lot of confusion for me and pointing out details I didn't think of before. Don't remember if I made this connection the first time around.

Tekbox

reading the episode summaries on the fandom wiki also helps a lot. can recommend

Tekbox

Luke is even worse with names than I am

I feel that there is nothing weird with the gross and absurd brutality of the pet being eaten and people died, its just how the way nature works, in primeval times, docile creatures are always hunted constantly if you think about it, we human grew emotions towards cute animals or even children is basically an evolutionary trait to protect, and their evolutionary trait to be protected from harm or predators. Also the wish, I think Imryuii wish evolved over time, first she was in pain ,she was hoping to be 'freed of that pain', the egg took that wish literally, removing her pain, but her body is still rotting. and then when the pain is gone, deep within her sub consciousness she is very regret and emotionally damaged by the fact that she can't give birth and being outcasted by her people, so she wished sub consciously to be able to given birth. Finally, the children she born, can cure the people.. is the final wish, its just that the egg 'translates' them in a very messed up way.

Legitimately wonder how you watched Game of Thrones and liked it with your horrible name retention.

Tom Boggess

Kaning Guliko

I know I am SUPER late to the party, but just to clarify, she wished to be a mother and bear a lots of children, but the egg works like a monkey's paw and so the wish was granted, but in the worst way possible. She gave birth to a lot of children, but all of them were fated to die right after

Man... I know it's cuz you forgot, and wasn't intentional, but hearing you call Vueko "exposed" over and over and "what's she been up to" all wink wink nudge nudge, when she smells that way cuz she was repeatedly sexually assaulted as a child (literally the very first scene of the entire season) was honestly pretty effin ROUGH for me to watch.

It's not only that tho, it's cut in the anime but in the manga, Vueko has a girlfriend (16:28) and has seggs with her a lot (she's on top too)
