the emotional mother scene also rubbed me the wrong way, but for another reason. The line 'One day, once you've become a gerat sorcerer, come get me' sounded kinda sexual, especially the 'come get me', and I know anime love their incest.

you should still pronounce the "u" in Sukuna, just say it lightly. Thats why you dont actually hear them say the "u" bc they are saying it quickly, and pronouncing it lightly. If they said it slower you would hear the "u"

Not really? His name is 宿儺, if you turn that into Hiragana is すくな, which is very clearly Sukuna, there's no universe where you read that in any other way. Japanese have the habit of pronouncing things fast and eating words, that's the only reason why it sounds like it's not 'Sukuna' all of the time.
