Definitely there are some similarities between Code Geass and Death Note. Code Geass has a lot more action, but yeah definitely recommend. If you're looking for a more psychological thriller anime similar to Death Note, I recommend Monster.

of course he sacrificed himself why do you think they made a big deal of showing him pull of his helmet right in front of her so she could see his face, when we ALL know that theyre smart enough to know that the killers NEED to know their face and name to kill them. So do you think Mello would be stupid enough to show his once concealed face unless he WANTED to die? And yes Light was going to kill her, thats why he told her "write as many names as you can WHILE you can" and she started crying.. cause she knew she was gonna die. Why else would he say WHILE you can? She knew it to, hence the crying

Funny that you still seem to want this show to be written like a bad American drama. That's what I love about anime--you never know what's going to happen unless you read the manga, the light novel, or you finish the anime, and anime always keeps you guessing. I've never, that I can remember, been disappointed by an anime ending while I am almost ALWAYS disappointed with American show endings.

Most anime have horrific endings though, especially since they often air before their manga iterations end and thus they have to ass-pull an ending. Western TV *is* indeed complete trash though, that's true.

I agree that Light is a scumbag. Hell, I forgot about a lot of these episodes, especially these more recent ones. He's even more of a scumbag then I remembered. However, I think his main goal is still very much front and center for him, killing criminals and making the world a better place. We know he's doing that, and there's no real tension to just seeing him doing that more at this point. We know he's been doing it a ton, and did it a bunch more during the time skip, etc. The focus of the show right now is him trying to avoid discovery and capture while most everyone else's focus is to find him out and discover him... so of course when you see him killing people it's pretty much just gonna be people in his way at this point. It's not too interesting to see him just killing criminals anymore.

Yeah you must not have watched a lot of anime. So many have really bad endings and a lot of times this is due to them being cut short and veering off from the manga story at the last minute or even canceled early and doing the same thing. Beelzebub and Blue Exorcist come to mind right away as shows I was really excited about and enjoying that suddenly veered off from the manga and ended. Some are just bad though too. There are many more examples, that's just what comes to mind. I do agree that a lot of anime have fantastic endings, though.
