I grew up on the butchered version of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (Warriors of the Wind). Was happy to see the full version. Just don't know if it'll be to slow for him. But the slow parts are still great story

Ghibli films are absolute masterpiece's. The English dubbed versions are better imo but I'm here for it regardless. Princess Mononoke is the best!

Great list, I've seen all of them and I agree About Hoshi no koe, that 1 man wasn't just any man, that was Makoto Shinkai and he actually made it with his wife. Fun fact: in the early version of the film, they voiced the 2 characters due to low budget. The rest is history, he went on to make movies like Your Name and more

I saw Hoshi no koe at anime festival/con (one of the 1st in my country) aprox. 20 years ago, so beautiful and so sad

As I expected. Luke is good at analysing and appreciating good storytelling, but hes not experienced enough to get the subtle meanings and symbolism. When he mentioned Rimuru with bathhouse, I thought that's what I mean, the more anime you watch, the more you will appreciate everything. Luke also seemed confused about the whole concept of getting spirited away, and the characters and places in the siprit world, although it is known in japanese culture and many anime have covered this in different ways. Imo it was a little early to recommend spirited away, Although opinions may differ, but this movie is considered a masterpiece by many.

Studio Ghibli movies are enjoyed by many people, not just anime fans or people interested Japanese culture. It feels weird to say it was too early to recommend Spirited Away it definitely stands on its own just fine.

The scene of chihiro crying and dual weilding onigiri (?) always makes me smile, it's just so cute seeing how haku comforts her without a single word, and she breaks down from his exuberant kindness. Just melts my heart

These Ghibli movies are all great but my personal favorite is Castle in the Sky. I love the exploration and lost civilization aspects, as well as the airships. Not to mention the fact that the female characters are truly feminine and the male characters are truly masculine, and they help each other out using those strengths. Also--sky pirates.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind next if we can vote here or any Ghibli Movie. The reason its looks so good because back in the day every frame got hand painted.

I really hope we get more Ghibli reactions to the dubbed versions. They hold a special place in my heart and it makes it easier for me to watch along since my eyesight isn’t great and subtitles are small. 😅
