Yes! Fake Kira in the original video actually used a combination of male and female terms when referring to themself. "watashi" is the feminine version of "I" while "ore" is the male. She used both, possibly to throw them off from revealing she was female initially, but other things hinted further that she's just a prissy girl. We love her, but gosh is she dumb and easily manipulated.

If you want to watch bigger anime, you need to know what you're signing up for. They have what in the anime world we call "filler arks" which are terribly boring especially for someone who is not a big fan of anime in general. Until now, the community has been throwing you the best of the anime world, crème de la crème, the best kind. Watching long anime you'll bite into the slightly worse side of that cake and it can put you off. Because of that, many give up watching this type of anime that has more than 100 episodes. You have been warned.

Worst case if he ends up bothered by fillers, there's plenty of filler lists out there that can tell him which episodes (or arcs) he can safely skip since they're not part of the canon story. Though I'd argue that some filler arcs can be fun to watch, especially if you have no foreknowledge that they're not part of the main story. But that's something down to personal preference what's fun and what isn't, so hard to say ahead of time.

To add onto what Dominique was explaining, L knows the second Kira killed those two news anchors as proof that they were really Kira. Those two anchors were involved in shady dealings, but nothing like what Kira would normally target. Their "crimes" were only really talked about in tabloids and women's magazines, so it wasn't exactly a big deal.

The two death note hints, the one about putting how someone dies and filling in a name after, as well as anyone being able to write a name in the note, were both used in Light's plan to kill Raye and the rest of the FBI team sent to Japan.

To add to what the other commenters, who seem more knowledable in japanese: "kun" is a suffix, more often User for talking about/ to a subject who is a boy or a man than other and "chan" is used for young children. I also hear chan used for girls and women, who the speaker knows well, as it shows endearment. Somebody pls correct me if that's incorrect, I am in the beginning stages of learning Japanese. SPOILERS for Steins;Gate s1: During your watch-along of the show, when they changed world-lines from when Ruka is a boy to when Ruka is a girl, I believe I heard Mayuri say Ruka-chan instead of Ruka-kun. This would indicate to Japanese viewers, that the D-Mail worked, when you were still unsure as Kyooma was.

Yeah but Bleach for example I learned that it's absolutely bloated with filler. I tried watching it and eventually quit but when I then later read the manga the story flows so much faster and you get quite some additional important knowledge

berserk is humanity at its worst, no anime would ever do the manga story justice because of the how much they’ll need to censor, but the 90’s is a good entry to to this epic dark fantasy.

Though interestingly enough, in Bleach, even Tite Kubo admitted the filler arc where the Zanpakto come to life is something he wished he had thought of and he loves that filler arc. But, yeah, most of the time they're worthless. LOL.
