Luke has said time and again that animes like Re-Zero and Overlord are big titles anime he would like to watch on youtube slots like AoT. It's just that the recent poll was won by Death Note so it's Death Note's turn rn for youtube. Twitch chat voted for Konosuba because it would be a damn fun anime to watch TOGETHER on twitch, it's not that deep bruh

Thanks for replying! I understand that you watch what people vote for and it’s not going to stop me from watching stuff in the future from you when it becomes more my content again. But if you read some of the reply’s that these people send me because I stated my opinion that this anime isn’t the greatest I’m surprised that people from your community don’t accept my opinion for what it is, I wasn’t expected to be met with such hostility. If anything, let the comment chains under my comment be more of a warning to you not to get on the bad side of an anime community! They are ruthless if you have a different opinion than them 😂

Too many people just upset that the specific anime they want to see didn't get chosen. They also try and complain it's not as good as other isekai anime, but here's the thing most don't get. Isekai is typically a secondary genre. Konosuba is primarily a Comedy with a secondary genre of Isekai. Re-Zero is more of a mystery/thriller. Overlord is probably the closest to having Isekai as part of it's main genre because it's a Dark Fantasy.

It was in the tournament but didn't make it. To be honest I would've been happy with anything in the tournament :) I'm mostly looking forward to Code Geass, 86, Violet Evergarden, Re:Zero, Demon slayer and Dr stone though. What's wrong with Re:Zero by the way?

I think this show might be a bit to early for Luke, He hasn't seen an isekai show before so he won't pick up on the tropes, and even if we are very devisive on Sword art Online I think that would be a show he should watch before going in to Konosuba, same reason I won't be recommending Gintama before he has watched some DBZ,Naruto or Onepiece. you need some context for these kind of shows to fully enjoy them. that being said I think he can appreciate it without seeing some isekai beforehand but I hope he'll watch it again in a couple of years when he's become as jaded as the rest of us and picks up on all the injokes.

Correction he has seen Reincarnated as a slime, but that show also isn't the stereo typical isekai.... Our taste is to good to give him the full experience.... this is a luxury problem XD We need to start recommending him some good instead of masterpiece shows to set a baseline, otherwise he'll be dissapointed by anime very quickly

I think people are overestimating the tropes. Satire can be picked up without fully knowing the source. If you're worried about not all jokes landing, well that's going to apply to pretty much all anime. Some cultural jokes just don't translate well. It's also different from Gintama because what they did with those shows was parody them, which is different from a satire.

I think the shows jokes and story stand tall on their own even if some of the references are missed. Aside from being a good spoof it’s a pretty good anime from its characters to overall plot. Hell without any of the comedy I would still rank it higher than most isekai.

Looks like Luke fell into the trap of Aqua fan service from episode 1. By 6 episode in most viewers will have the view Kazuma has of Aqua. One not worthy to pay attention to her fan service as she is too stupid. Also I think he may have had our first miss guys. Luke isn't laughing as much as we thought he would.

People in the comments seem confused about Luke's enjoyment of the show. He's not laughing as much as you expected him to because these are ACTUAL reactions. Unlike other channels that will jump out of their seats and start running around the house when someone makes a slightly amusing pun, Luke does not exaggerate things. Just because he isn't on the floor laughing doesn't mean he doesn't find it funny. He himself said that he's enjoying it, so why are you assuming he lied?

tbh I hated the middle of ReZero season 1 because Subaru was the most unbearably pathetic and childish protagonist I'd ever seen. I even dropped it for like half a year. However, I pushed through and season 2 made it worth it, so I understand why some people think it's bad, but if you can push through the shit, you might not find gold, but you'll at least find silver.

If you want more tank characters who are ridiculous but in a good way this time try BOFORI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt So I'll Max Out My Defence. (the second season will end in the next few weeks or April or whatever). If you want another useless or asshole of a god or goddess who summons protagonists try Saga of Tanya the Evil or TSUKIMICHI -Moonlit Fantasy.

That donation in the beginning, the "Explosion" one from "Megumin", I was pissing myself laughing, and seeing the chat go off with the Explosion spam after was awesome!
