Since Made in Abyss has been mentioned. When the blessed day happens for you to react to it. You should involve Kevin Penkin songs - Hanezeve Caradhina and Gravity. which are the part of Made in abyss ost, This man knows how to make a beautiful music and its without a doubt a must to hear! <3

I love the Blue Exorcist intros too. The series has some pretty dark moments and concepts but has a playful feel (similar feel to the Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime in this respect) Blackie (the cat with 2 tails) is Awesome, the bridge scene where Blackie and the main character meet is Awesome too. Would really Love to see a reaction on the Danmachi (Is it wrong to pick up Girls in a Dungeon) Openings. Especially the most recent one is a real Banger.

I recommend the HELL out of Blue Exorcist (HAH). It's a good anime all in all, though it does suffer from a classic anime trope "It was explained in the manga" but it's not any details you'll lose the plot over. Just minor things if I recall.

You can propably thank Shonen genre for most of your confusion on how dark stuff is. It has a tendency to have some seriously dark premise/subject matter, but due to it's nature being little bit akin to pg action movies, characters generally end up well adjusted and never suffer any truly horrific consequences. Then there's the exceptions where artist/producer says: "i don't care if this gets banned from the tv". Kicker is, it could literally be any genre. Show about giant robots, totally nothing deeper here. Magical girls are cute and nothing else happens. Cute kids explore a cave, surely nothing serious is going down.

lol you were almost there. rin okamura is half demon, he is the son of satan and a human woman. glasses gun dude is his brother. the guy with a top hat is Mephistopheles. the other kids are in exorcist school.
