As promised here is the full VOD from our TWITCH Watchalong on A Silent Voice Anime Movie!

In the future all anime reactions and watchalongs on Twitch will be uploaded to Patreon in full! As they are not allowed on Twitch as VODs.

Also note, the second half of this vod my mic audio is out of sync but the movie audio is fine!

Enjoy!

Sadly due to a singular line in the show, that's not possible. "Tsuki vs Suki" Moon and I love you. In the dub the line is COMPLETELY ruined, there's no way to hear what she says as "the moon" in dub, and it's a huge turning point in the anime. Dub's try their best with what they can work with, but wordplay and overall play on words etc don't translate well AT ALL, look at Highschool of the Dead as an example of a very good dub, a TON of the writing is changed, cause why the fuck would you reference Japanese nostalgia and pop culture in a dub? Some keep it as a true translation, but ultimately, the dub for that making Micheal bay references and such is much more welcoming to a western audience. The VOICES for the dub in this are actually really good, yeah. But sadly the script and themes fuck it a little.

Thanks Luke, I cried.

stevmaster11

Sad that the studio burned down and some people who made this movie died....

Lager Lager

Thank you man i wanted to watch this movie anyway but now i can do it with your reaction

malkuuusha

Wooooow, didn’t expect it. Happy new year everyone and have a nice watch!

Anonymous

literally my favorite movie, can't wait to watch it!

Toasterfinal5

The watch along stream went better than expected, especially knowing that this was the first. I’m sure this will not be the last & hope that it will continue from this point forward. Great job for all who were involved to make this happen. You have my thanks.

Sven Hegenbart

SIlent VOice is a really good movie. Would suggest reading the manga after wards as they cut off all the thoughts and motivation from the side chars. You learn a lot from all of them even why Nishimiya mom acted how she did

David Ouillette

This was such a great movie... yet totally destroyed me

Crome18

I sadly dont understand why everything that is longer than 20min just does not load fast enough for me on Patreon .__. Anybody know why that could be ? my Internet is fast enough btw.

Thamor

For your next anime movie I recommend "Maquia: When The Promised Flower Blooms" 2018 made.

Aldo Fernández

In the manga version they end up marrying each other, :') I would've loved seen that animated but other than that this one is my fav all time film. I'm looking forward to see "Your name/kimi no na Wa" reaction. Love your content, Luke!

Daniel Griffiths

i was happy with this:) but you did just make me choose between a silent voice and Attack on titan and that hurt my brain XD

I am not hate it but just kinda dislike it, the idea of watch anime in stream. Because I want the reactor to be immersed and fully invested in the anime, but with streaming, you had to be checking chats or wondering if something's wrong, or is the stream boring or you just subconsciously think about how to be entertain, and sometime miss a single important subtitle line. All stuff like that just distraction and make the reaction not 100% good/genuine. Again, not that I hate it, just dislike it. Want it to be like music video reaction where you do it yourself and put your full attention to the video. Just want to put my opinion here, sorry to bothering you. Keep the good work!

Daniel Griffiths

i know you dont read these but please watch bocchi the rock it is the key to happiness:)

Sikk Karuzo

Thanks for the Upload. I love this movie so much.

I'm glad to catch the vod. It's a very good movie, also catch the ending ost of this movie. It's very great and emotional. It was great to see your reaction to this movie. It's beautiful and motivating yet sad. Another good movie like this one is: "I want to eat your pancreas".

Nathan S.

Japanese culture in general does not particularly speak or express love & feelings as easily as other western cultures. Suicide is an issue there with adults and teens. Also, I loved how the 'x's portrayed, social distancing / anxiety / depression / guilt, not looking people in eyes so you don't remember their faces, I feel we could all relate in sometime of our lifes feeling that way... Great movie. I hope soon to see react to 'Your Name' :) Happy New Year!

Mardenzin

I didnt know if you would upload the vods here, Im really glad. I cant catch the streams that often. Also, Happy New Year to everyone!

NS

The moment he finally heals and forgives himself in the end is so beautifully done

Iron_claw

I love this movie but I do recommend the dub over the sub

Iron_claw

If you can you should watch the Dubbed version on your own time it's really good Trust me

Bryan Wells

Honestly I kind of agree but it is a way for him to justify sitting there for three hours watching a show (which is insanely unproductive) and then needing to edit and do everything afterward for three hours of footage, it just makes it much easier to justify watching that much content at a time

Iron_claw

The dubbed part of the Ferris wheel is so much better you can actually feel the emotion coming out nishimia

Lex

love this kind of reaction luke, no damn cliff hangers, straight to the end.

I'm glad I became a Patron <3

I could already see in chat people recommending more feels anime/films. My two cents are that The day I became a god, Plastic Memories and Your Lie in April are pretty mid tear jerkers. Your Lie in April is decent in its own ways but not exactly a big feels show. For a short, direct to the bloodstream injection of feels, Anohana is the king of compact emotional manipulation. The slow burn choice is as I saw people pointing out is Clannad. Season 1 is good and has its own share of feels but its season 2 that makes you need a lie down. But you need all that build up leading into season 2 to really get the full experience, hence a slow burn. If the depression and bullying were interesting themes, Sangatsu no Lion is amazing, the bully arc in season 2 is just *chef's kiss*. The Monogatari series also deals with a lot of personal issues, though its by no means a drama in the same vein as the other works mentioned. The Fruits Basket remake is also a great personal drama, lots of sad backstories and broken people, good stuff. Houseki no kuni is another great story about self exploration and development.

I’m so happy this got to be your first movie watch, I knew it would be one that you would enjoy.

lonxsome.

definitely need to watch “i want to eat your pancreas” :)

Milk

God, this movie makes me cry every time. It hits too close to home.

krai

You should react to the ending song "Koi wo Shita no Wa" you'll simp on another Japanese female singer.

Ky0

Thank you man to make me revisited A silent voice totally

виина

if you reacted to the shape of voice then you should react to the "I want to eat your pancreas", "your name" and "garden of words"

Josh

Suggestion: he should only be able to see chat when he pauses to talk about the movie. In the case of the episodes only between episodes to keep the during episode chats shorter

Ben

I agree the dub is very good and the voice actor for the dub is actually deaf and does an amazing job

Ben

The subtle details in the animation are awesome, like how the main character's shirt tag still sticks out from when he was a kid to grown up

ChaosDragon

So true, and I would argue that this level of authenticity in the dub(having a deaf person voice the deaf character) makes it superior to the sub

Chmuurkaa

I was screaming when he missed Ishida walking into the sign language class for the first time right after time jump cuz he was reading chat so yeah I feel you hahah. But hey, more anime reactions

OneFelPiece

This is amazing, I only got to see the last 30 or so minutes when this was live on twitch. Happy to see its here in full 😊

KannagiBoiya

ya have to react to "I want to eat your pancreas" too. dont mind the title, its just a metaphor or an expression something xD Its a really good movie, both the anime and the live action. both adaptations have the same story but different beginnings and end. and both convey the same message and emotion, so you can see which you prefer.

VesperQuartz15

I missed the livestream but the vod was great. I’m so happy you watched this film. I always cry at the end. It was wonderful to rewatch.

Beta Knight

Damn I missed the stream
