But she hears eren's message later which is only transmitted to subjects of ymir

26:08 (Reiner talking about the Potato-Girl incident) Got to be one of Reiner's favorite memories but he's so screwed up he has to tell the story like it was something horrible. He's trying (and failing) to get over the fact that, as a 12 year old, he's responsible for the death of 250,000 Eldians on Paradise.

Josh Lomax

Why on Earth would the military of any nation send scout ships that have prisoners on board? That makes no sense

Scarlet Angel17

By prisoners, he's thinking about the Eldians that are going to Paradise to be punished, by turning them into pure titans. He was suggesting that maybe Eren or whoever could be helping those prisoners to gain more allies. So it makes sense.

matt

LETS GOO!!

Yessi

Don't be mad at mah boi zeke :')

Hugo

Its amazing and beautiful to see how far you managed to get in this year, really cool to see :)

matt

lol, he is a brainwashed devil. Also he has no humanity.

LemonSaucyPants

sasha is a true devil with that potato

Yessi

27:32 yes, but i think u're missing the fact they they were in fact abandoned by King fritz. And even then the founding titan is powerful enough to (partially) erase their memory too or to change it.

Austin Sorenson

a show that would be a good attack on titan replacement would be Jujutsu Kaisen, its another Mappa animated show (same studio as csm and aot s4) its honestly just an amazing show, great concept, great adaptation, amazing soundtrack and action, all with the right amount of comedy and emotion, you should watch the trailer and see if its up your alley, it also does have a prequel movie (if you do watch it watch the show before the movie) its only 24 eps plus the movie, and will get a season 2 sometime in 2023, you should consider it!

PKS

Reiner was telling their story as uf they are still humans, but his family consider Paradis people complete devil. They can't comprehend how devils can have human like properties.

StrayRonin

It’s been wayyy longer than 80 years since the first king. I’m not entirely sure how long but I’m guessing almost 800 years

KeanuofRivia

I'm guessing that the people with weird facial expressions that Zeke turned into Titans were probably on some kind of drugs to make them more amenable to sacrificing themselves for the cause

PKS

Yoy are trying so hard to guess where the story is going, believe us its of no use. This is "the" craz"iest" story till now.

StrayRonin

They were injected with the serum while they were wrapped up, if you remember back in season 3 Eren couldn’t transform inside the well, so I’m guessing if they are restrained somehow then they won’t transform

Liam Cooney

Reiners whole segment at the table was essentially him recalling memories that he actually enjoyed on the island, while making it out and explaining it in a way that still upheld the narrative that everyone there were ‘devils’

KeanuofRivia

It wasn't that Eren COULDN'T transform inside the well it was because he didn't have the will to do so. After learning what grisha had done to the founding Titans family he was ready and willing to give it up and let historia kill him to kept for the sins of his father. The serum by itself doesn't make people complacent the reason they have weird faces when jumping off that airship is likely because they have been given some kind of drug to make them more willing to do whatever Marley wants them to do. Kind of hard to make people suicide themselves willingly if they know it's death either way. But give them some drugs to make them not care and that makes it a lot easier to get them to do it

I'm hopping that if you change your opinion about any character you tall us I feel happy that you liked this show ❤❤

What makes Reiner's speech so depressing is that it shows that while on paradise, he has never been happier for the most part. He really did come to love the people he met there, hence his PTSD over what he's done to them. He genuinely loves them and hates the fact he has to do those things. Otherwise, you can probably imagine Marley would kill his family if he didn't obey. There is no good or bad, just people trying to survive in the cruel world they live in.

Zack

My take on Reiner's story is that he still has PTSD and he just can't make sense of it all. Going into Paradis he was told that it was an island of devils. They weren't to be considered humans, they were monsters. But then Reiner spent time with them and when looking back he remembers how human they all were. They weren't monsters or devils. The reason it feels like hell is because he was there to kill all of them. He thought he was killing monsters but found out he was killing people. Not even random people, people he spent time with, shared fond memories, people he grew to care about, and then he remembers how he tried to kill them all anyway.

Dethrox

yes.. Ymir was very interesting character.. and it wasnt even her fault.. that she eat one of the warriors.. also pretty sure Reiner was lying about his time in Paradis.. he obviously cant say ooh we had a fun times.. i made some friends.. etc.. :D i mean maybe he make himself that way.. like he is telling the truth but lying.. you know how he is :D

Adam Niemi

you need to react to jobless reincarnations openings and endings they are 🔥🔥🔥

Thamor

You already love the show so much that you don't need help from us and really hope no "idiots" try to answer your questions and spoil the fun for you as you aren't that far from catching up to all of us and with your timing you will get to start watching the finale of AOT with rest of us.

Shengbo Jia

To add on to the comment before, with concerns to Reiner's story, I think the reason to why it felt so weird was due to all the other elements of the shot indicating that he is speaking of a horror story (ambient music, zooming camera etc.). but this is completely juxtaposed by the contents of the story ,which reading on its own, paints the idea that islanders are just ordinary human beings. An idea that contradicts the currently held view that everyone on the island are devils, hence why Reiner's mother looked so distraught and proceeded to reinforce the belief that all islanders are devils.

Rinzzler

The subs aren't broken, its to shine a light on how normal it is over on the island how much the marleyan's have used propaganda to change the narrative of who the eldians are. Reiner said "All sorts of people over there" And described a very normal interaction he had. When they've all be fed the "They're devils and monsters, can't be trusted at all" story.

TimelessOrb

Being a titan shifter is a 13 year death sentence

RudeusGrey4t

The reason Reiner's mother was terrified by the story isn't because Reiner described anything terrifying or evil. It was because he didn't. The people on the mainland view the people on the island as irredeemably evil. Reiner knows that's not true, but it's illegal for him to go against the Marleyan narrative and say that it's not true. The irony of his words, calling the islanders evil while describing something as mild as stealing a potato, was entirely intentional. The fact that nothing he said sounded all that bad is what scared his mom because it came dangerously close to acknowledging verbally that the islanders are just normal people same as everyone else, which could get him and his family executed.

Russell Gambardella

Your intuition that something wasn’t quite right with Reiner’s story was right! It’s also ironic that you sarcastically shouted out “oh, the humanity!” In reference to Sasha stealing and sharing a potato; that was the essentially the main point, Reiner is trying to sell the propaganda image of Island Devils, but since he knows it’s not true and has suffered emotional trauma in regards to that epiphany, we get his mismatched story of him claiming they are devils yet he only gives examples of normal human behaviors, one’s that you’d often see in friends and family. Can’t wait until your next reaction!

RudeusGrey4t

Only 100, actually. It was 80 years when Grisha was a kid; that's what he's getting hung up on. It's closer to 100 now.

Anonymous

yo guys, im new to his patrion. does he normally post aot reactions ahead in here or are they sync with the youtube ones

Nrock23

Why do you want Mikasa to die in 13 years so bad? lol

Liam Wallace

Hey, so quick thing that causes a bit of a speed bump here. So the Eldians that Parachuted in, and were turned into titans were just Eldians, their faces were just a weird artistic choice from the animators. It in no way shape or form, means they were a Titan already or anything like that. Another weird thing they put in, that won’t come up again, that guy who flung himself from the roof was just a random Eldians soldier from the front lines that had PTSD, and that’s them trying to show you the after effects of war on these Eldian Soldiers.

wildhunt1973

I love how you can see how broken Reiner is now, after his time on Paradis. He hears the propaganda by the Marlyean Ministers of Information, and he now knows it's all a lie--but he can't say a word without risking his family's life. I feel really sorry for Reiner. He's caught up in something he never expected, and it's slowly destroying him.

Reversal Ring +3

The subtitles were not broken, Reiner was struggling to find valid reasons to call them devils, only managing to spew minor flaws.

dg_2drunk

the family was shocked not because sharing a potato is horrible, but because Reiner spoke of them as humans. he is the only one of them that actually had contact with them and he humanized them while everyone else is speaking of them as evil devils - their complete world view shattered because even while trying he could not bring himself to make them sound evil.

Petter Turi

I wouldn't say he is broken there. Reiner was trying to explain that those on the Island are like everyone else. But you never know when Marley is listening, so he has to phrase it like he's talking shit about them. So that he and his family don't get punished, that is why the family reacts like they do, because they can't believe that their normal humans. and not devils

wildhunt1973

And the reactions here are unblurred while the Youtube ones are blurred for copyright reasons.

Ameth

He doesn't check the comments right? It's so minor but I wish he would just for the sake of the Reiner family conversation. When asked to recount his experiences with the "devils" as they're called the best he could do was call up minorly flawed scenarios that honestly are "good" qualities of all the characters we know. Basically just describing his 'friends' and trying to paint a negative atmosphere around each of them. we all love sasha and her food habits and all her friends do too, Eren being the bullheaded person who charges in, etc

Nathan S.

Luke... your mind putting things together is just hilarious xD Also, if you do another anime poll soon it should include "Vinland Saga" its a great show.

tyler

27:27 Yea this always kind of confused me as well, even if you factor in the possibility of every Eldian having their memories erased by King Fritz, there should still be Marleyans whose parents or grandparents were alive during the great titan war and had some idea of how life was really like under the Eldian Empire and what really happened during the great titan war. Hell Grisha's grandparents were 100% around during this time, but Grisha's father keeps talking about Eldia like its a mythical land out of history, not a nation that met its end less than a lifetime ago, whose own parents would of lived in.

Bryan Wells

AYO THAT ONE SCENE GOT ME SO HYPED FOR NO REASON AHHHHHHH

Antoine Jones

notice Reiner said "Her 12 year old son left and came back a grown man" and remember Reiner was only there for 5 years, so hes only 17... yet he looks 34. Which shows titan shifters age faster as they go through the whole human aging process in 13 years. Hence why Erens brother Zeke looks old enough to be his father, although as they ARE brothers theyre not THAT far apart in age. Unless Grisha was popping out babies when he was 5, theres no other way a man his age would have a child thats as old as Zeke looks

Well, the Marleyans who lived through it also lived through all the propaganda. Hard to keep a neutral story about your oppressors alive through 80 years of painting the Eldians as the bad guys. To the Marleyans, they definitely were.

Lex

In the end of season3 the owl said Nine titans have their own names, the jaw and cart are the name of the titans.

Mugiwaragirl

Actually he's now 21 because 4 years passes since he returned from Paradis, but yet you're right, he does look like he's older ! Reiner looks so depressed and tired ...

Ravagerr

I'm loving your reactions, especially the attack on titan ones because they're really helping me appreciate the story more and even learn a lot of new things I never realized before. You're doing an amazing job at picking up on things and connecting dots that I wasn't able to.

Martin Mcfly

In regards to zeke, Grisha did force his ideology and responsibilities onto zeke from an incredibly young age, which naturally no 8-12 year old boy would enjoy.

Jakub Ferko

You can google out, see some movies or something about WW2 and holocaust , i cant tell if you are avoiding it or just dont know....

gotgames

Avoiding 👀 I've mentioned in a few videos it reminds me of 1940s Europe. That's as far as I'll go into detail on it. But I have definitely seen the comparisons.

Chyro Nighthowler

Hm.. not sure if Mikasa could even become a titan? Isn't she from some special bloodline, the ackermans? Though don't know if the ackermans are simply a special Eldian bloodline or from another race.

Chyro Nighthowler

Yeah. And I think the reason Reiner's mom (the old lady) was horrified cause she realized what he was saying. That it's just normal people too on that island, other Eldians fighting for their survival on the other side. But such thinking is dangerous with their Marleyan 'overlords' thus she tried to deflect it so that the young ones are less likely to realize what Reiner was actually saying.

Arctic

Theres also alot of parelells to Japan after WWII also
