David isn't showing any side effect because he's just "built different". His words.

kiwi

that's actually how the Japanese voice actors do it too, it's just that since we don't speak japanese we can't tell.

kiwi

That fucking song man...

Chmuurkaa

Can't wait for this anime to wreck him emotionally

XxCypher-3xX

This is gonna be lit af

revengeisnthere

dubbed is so much better in this show than sub... this is coming a guy who tries to convince all my dub watching friends to switch to sub

Crome18

I love the DUB its really good just keep going.

Crome18

Opening on youtube should be fine btw.

dragonguard666

After Chainsaw Man, I highly recommend Castlevania. Gory, touch of horror, great action scenes, great humour and many great loveable characters. There's also some nudity/sex scenes at some point in the show, hence it'll be ideal as a Patreon exclusive. 32 total episodes.

Kim Løvenholdt

Dub is definately the best. My approach is always to watch a show in the language it was written for, and with Cyberpunk it was English.

Chmuurkaa

Aight kept some notes while watching to comment it after. Opening on youtube's perfectly fine, and only fair to be honest. Yes, this is his mother's jacket. About sub or dub, the main reason why I always go with sub over dub in anime is simply because of the fact that japanese have way higher experience in dubbing them, same with dubbing thousands of hollywood movies etc. It's just something that English speaking countries never had to bother with (or at least at a much lower scale), so the dubbing quality and acting is (imo) always lower compared to non-english speaking countries, especially when it comes to something so niche as anime and especially where there is a whole career opportunity in Japan based on it and it's not niche there at all. But that's a never ending argument.

Kevin Williams

I watched Sub, going to enjoy watching dub. The world does have a long of lingo that comes across better in dub.

Epikano

Can you add English subtitles please?)

Ozpib

I think in sub they don't have any of the lingo right? That's what I heard anyway. The Japanese version just speaks normally

Misteryk

I prefer Japanese and english subs but if you want to watch dub so be it. If English subs match english dub you should add them, not everyone is native english speaker and it's a lot easier to follow subs than hear alone especially when there are a lot of different accents

Daniel Griffiths

i vote Bocchi the rock/bluelock for youtube(music will be a bitch though) bleach for twitch aaand made in abyss/Bocchi the rockfor patreon(coz the music will be a bitch and made in abyss is not youtube friendly)

Daniel Griffiths

DUB all the way for this one bro. the Japs are amazing but they cant do accents and theres some really good english speaking VAs on the cast bet youll notice at least 1:)

Ryan Gilg

So for the Sub/Dub argument my personal preference is Dub when avaliable that way I can focus entirely on the animation on screen instead of trying to split focus between watching and reading. As for the questions of the episode. The Side effects they were talking about is due to everyone's cybernetics nature implants can cause data corruptions and fry people you'll see a few examples throught the show. And because David's Sandy is military grade equipment it puts a lot more stress on you for using it and can cause that corruption certainly quickly. For the Fizzy drinks David just can't handle carbonation so it's just any drink that is fizzy like sodas or beer. Then for non cyberpunk related I don't know if the character designers for anime consider cosplay while making the character artwork but there is a cute anime dealing with Cosplay called My Dress-up darling. Very mellow and cute might be a good pallet cleanser if you need a nice pick me up after something else

Daniel Griffiths

its exactly what it looks like lol

Gabriel Cordeiro

I prefer it in Japanese but I don't mind watching it in English

Benjamin Siimes

I think the dub has a better time with getting across the world-specific terminology that is used often ('choom', 'gonk', etc), but the Japanese voice actors just have a higher quality. Regardless, the dub is still very good, but I would suggest adding the subtitles anyways, as a lot of people still benefit from those

Arcturus Snow

This is one of the rare exceptions in anime where the dub is not just equivalent, but superior to any subs. The accents, slang and delivery just come through so much better. It's hard to find anime that translate well into dub, so I strongly recommend it in english.

Toasterfinal5

I have a relative who’s a hard core sub anime fan. I remember when he texted me late at night and said watch this ! In Dub. I responded, in dub ? Really? After watching the series, Now I understand why he said to watch in dub. I think the original audio is English for this series.

Ragnar-sama

About sub/dub dispute... In most cases, nothing beats up the original voice acting. Japan takes voice acting and the anime industry very seriously and Seiyuu - Japanese Voice Actors are quite often are being treated like celebrities there. This is why most of people prefers Sub version because they can appreciate the effort They put into the anime. When you watch an English Dub version it is almost every time an American version. As a Light Novel reader I have seen many opinions that the fact itself that I read in English makes me loose some stuff due to the inability to translate things perfectly, because like in every language - some things cannot be properly translated onto other language (I'm polish so sometimes I'm losing it twice). Dub versions are going even further and accommodate already not so accurate translation to typical American viewer and It is painfully visible if you compare what subs are saying to what the characters are actually saying. Edgerunners is one of the exceptions from that rule from a simple fact that the world showed in this series is a dystiopian future of America - this world is vulgar, superficial, violent and every characters swears literally all the time. This is a perfect show for English dub because Japanese language is not good in swearing and you loose quite a bit of that atmosphere when you watch subs :)

Stumblewater

I watched this in sub without even knowing there was an English version. So when i watch the English now it seems sub par, even tho its the original.

Oskar Broda

I really like your reactions about Edgerunners, so I noted a few things when watching this video. 1. Dubbing - They made really good job with dubbing in every version. Japanease, English, Polish etc every version is amazing. 2. When you got confused how they got this microchips coming out of peoples necks - It's hacking. Simply when anyone hacking, scanning or just calling somebody their eyes glowing. 3. About implants - not everyone have the same resistance for implants. The better implant, the more resistance it need. 4. It's not just Japanease anime - It's Japanease and Polish becouse of the game Cyberpunk 2077. Sorry I couldn't resist to point it out, cause I'm from Poland :P That's propably all. The rest you will see in next episodes. Also I would like to see You playing Cyberpunk 2077. Take care and Happy New Year ;)

KajL

For me sub is better but dub in this show is pretty good and with it will be probably easier to understand whats going on.

Yami Youssouf

ill be honest spoilers in ops are only spoilers if youve already seen the part its spoiling hence the op doesnt have spoilers

Wizardfreak03

keepin it short, personally prefer sub, but this anime was made based on an english game and all, so it's a toss up. also keep in mind the concept of cyberpsychosis, it's a very prominent theme for this anime, not gonna spoil anything, so you'll have to keep your ears peeled!

Ondrej Kratochvil

Had a quick look at what the next patreon exclusive could be. Found 2 things: Goblin Slayer(mainly because of the first episode censorship requirement) and Hellsing Ultimate(really gore-y show, dont know whether youtube would like it)

Nick

I think Castlevania would be a cool series to check out next

Nicholas Hooker

You're fine to watch it any way you like, but having both the dub and sub enabled will teach you things about their wording/phrasing and grammar. If Lucy mentions selling "klepped shards" it can be hard to catch what she said, but in reading it you can say "klepped, oh like kleptomania, its slang for stealing!" and comprehend. A gonk is an idiot, a choom is a buddy. Hard to learn just hearing it

Ravagerr

Definitely stick with the english dub

Liam Wallace

Dub is so much better in this one.

Mario Ramos

I actually liked the sub version better, but it´s still pretty good!

Kalisa Fox

watched it the first time in Dub as well, much prefer the dub over the sub for this show, but this is a show that does seem both sides are reasonable, its what ever u really prefer, theres amazing voice actors in both But the thing about the dub, the show is around night city, which is based in California, part of the world building is how deverse the city is, theres characters that speak different languages in the city and if you watch the sub, they just convert the words in other languages also to japanese, the show and cyberpunk in general is made in english in general, but the studio that did the show did japanese first as they are a japanses studio. Still some things are not as easily translated to the sub version. The Sub is still great though, but Dub imo just fits it better.

Kalisa Fox

More graphic anime i would recommend after chainsaw man would maybe be Shiki, its an amazing and short anime but does have allot of gore but it could still be a good youtube series as well without much cutting (most anime outside of netflix should be fine, no more graphic then attack on titan)

Frentzy

I'd say sub but only because of subtitles, I'd be ok with DUB as long as there are some subtitles as well, Even tho I understand all youtubers are saying, understanding voice actors is much harder since they change their voice to match villains and stuff so they sound unusual

Miles Mandelke

I would definitely prefer if you keep watching dubbed. That’s the version I watched and I absolutely loved it. I’ve seen other YouTubers react to the sub and I actually prefer the dub, and by a wide margin. The voice actors are very good in dub.

REY

I prefer the sub, but the dub is also good for this one

Nathan S.

I'm so going to create a twitch account to watch the movie with you! hell yeah! A Silent Voice I watched in Japanese with english sub, think that is best for that one.

Ravagerr

lucy was getting the people's chips out by hacking their ports. she can hack pretty much with her mind

Tokken Release

I personally think that the dub is pretty good in this show.

Nathan S.

This show is an acceptation for dub, especially for waifu actress coming later in show :)

Ravagerr

that has to be bias cuz the english version is so much better imo

Ethannex

Both sub and dub are great for Edgerunners. I say stick with the dub since you're already two episodes in with it.

Elias Austin

Watch what YOU want for each show. Don't listen to sub elitists. Plenty of great dubs out there too. I watched AOT in dub first then sub. There were parts I preferred about both over the other. I go with what looks most natural for the show setting, but that's just me. I'll usually try both for the first episode and see what clicks the most too.

Arctic

I I would actually suggest to watch Chainsawman on Youtube considering its not really 18+ I would say its more of a 17+ show. I actually did some reactions to the series and uploaded to Youtube and all you have to do is blur. CSM could be an interlude between AoT and then whatever other show you watch afterwards. I'd keep the shows that cant be uploaded to youtube without heavy editing (mostly Aniplex titles that will get flaged and taken down even if blured and muted in certain parts) as Patreon exclusives.

Arctic

Another contendor for a Patreon exclusive 18+ anime even weirder and wackier than Edgeruners is "Devilman Crybaby". Its like 11 episodes and also on Netflix. really great animation and you would probably like the storyline. Definently 18+ in some scenes but it fits with the themes of the show.

blake

Dub is better for this show

DaLava

dub is good, but it would be cool if you turned the subs on only cuz it's a little hard to hear sometimes.

Brian

Cowboy Bebop would be dope. Only 26 episodes. It's an absolute classic. Best soundtrack ever. English dub is perfection. Only show I'm aware of that has 100% both audience and critics on rotten tomato for whatever that's worth. It literally invented a genre. C'mon. Do it.

John Cabral

Your looking for a Patreon exclusive to do? Give Food Wars a try, I know you did the intros and were very confused as to what those showed vs what you saw searching about it. I might even suggest doing a few Episode 1 reactions to a few anime and maybe a poll to see what people might want to see your reactions to more.

Jacob

FLCL would be an awesome series to react to but its filled with copyrighted music and would be super hard to get on youtube so a twitch stream would likely be better.

Hugo

Im being honest with you, if you REALLY WANT to feel the same thing you had with an anime like aot, the next anime should def be Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood!!!

Thiivi

You should absolutely stick with the dub for this one. Unlike other anime, the English version of this show can sorta be considered the "original" because the source material (the world of the Cyberpunk game) was made with English speaking characters. Also the English really gives you a variety of different accents, and makes the future slang feel much more natural imo

Animeguy1101

The thing with David and fizzy drinks is just that he has a hard time drinking them like some people do, it’s something about the carbonation that just doesn’t agree with him. So he just doesn’t like beer and soda(or pop I think you guys in the UK say) because it’s carbonated and he has trouble drinking that, nothing deeper.

JammySplosha

dub is simply just the better option for this show, it was made to be watched in dub

Christopher Wolstenholme

The chip ejection is not explained but it's most likely that Lucy is hacking their cyberware that controls the socket and basically remotely pressing the eject button then catching the chip as it flies out of the socket. Nvm you got it like 10 seconds later :)

Inifus

I usually watch anime with subs, but this is on of the exceptions. The dubs were done exceptionally well and the canonical location of this setting is in California (Night City is built atop the ruins of a real modern day town called Morro Bay).

Inifus

This anime managed to emotionally charge two of my favorite songs from the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack in a way that makes is so that they'll never be the same... "I Really Want To Stay At Your House" and "Major Crimes" are both so much heavier now...

Danielius Stanevičius

I only started watching this reaction but its nice to know you will upload twitch content here :)

Helix Gaming

13:40 answer to your question: Lucy is a netrunner. They're basically like a telepathic hacker.

Jonathan Venegas

I'm probably in the minority that preferred the sub. But it's really hard for me to listen to the dub no matter how good it is. Just something about the lips not being perfectly in sync and the general tone of the voices not matching the energy of the characters, dubbing just comes across to me as bad acting. That said I acknowledge that the dubs are some of the best I've ever heard. I just have a weird hang-up about dubbing and you shouldn't listen to me.

Aspy 130

Please do keep the sub. I’ve watched both and on this rare occasion think the dub voices match the characters better

brad marsh

Luke as far as another Mature rayed good Anime to check out for a Friday slot is called "Speed Grapher" also "DeadMans Wonderland"

ItZ OWL

definitely choose dub for this one

Himiyo

Yeah I watched both for this series and while the dub is good overall, a lot of english voice actors speak in a weird voice and "overpronounce" words in a way that just feels extremely unnatural to me and takes me out of the show. Both are fairly well done though.

Chibble

I know a lot of people have already said this but I want to add my hat into the group with people saying they prefer the dub. I watch almost every anime with subs, this one just felt better dubbed though. Edit: Also just wanted to say I am glad to hear that the Twitch watch-a-longs are coming to Patreon, I can't catch your stream with my schedule very well.

Gomez and Cook

Devilman crybaby on Netflix would be cool after chainsaw man

Weissguy

Looking forward to episode 3 already!

TEG

I personally really prefer the dub for this one. I've checked out both and to me the dub simply had a lot more personality and it flows a lot better. And for me something like this is really rare. However I would suggest that you put on the subtitles additionally to the English audio, to assist those who need them to follow along.

TEG

Only difference in this case however: There is no "original." It was a simulcast in every sense of it. The "original" source material, so to speak, was even American. So while usually valid that point just doesn't apply here at all.

Slayer666

I watch most things in Dub these days. Pre 2010 the dubs weren't as strong. Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell: SAC are exceptions to that rule.

Nathan S.

It's almost friday!

Yeetus

Dub is completely fine for cyperpunk :)

Spencer Kirkwood

Dub is wonderful, I usually watch stuff in subs but the dub is just so good for this anime.
