Man, thank you for keeping things so genuine and authentic. I love your reactions and how you articulate your thoughts and opinions as you speculate and talk about this show. It’s my second and a half time watching AOT but watching you watch it for the first time allows me to experience it as if it was almost like it was my first time which is just so damn amazing!!! So thank you!

Kenneth Tong

Everytime I rewatch AoT, i cry at: Eren's reaction to Hannes' death & Ymir and Historia's separation Eren's speech of how he shouldn't have happened. Eren's speech on how Armin isn't filled with hate. Honestly, I think Eren's voice actor (Kaji Yuki) is 10/10 because it gets me every. single. time.

killilu

TO THIS DAY (armin cool and all) I still think erwin should have been brought back and not armin

Cloe T.

Here we go again. Tears, here I come..

Dominic

Even though I know what’s coming I still cry

PKS

I know you have been trying to swallow those early tears, but we know Midnight Sun. And this is why I am suggesting you complete Demon Slayer first.

Raul Leao

I found it reeeeally interesting what you said about Bertholdt's death being the most heartbreaking scene of the episode. Him and Reiner are often just considered the heartless bad guys by quite a lot of people, even tho we got lots of scenes showing us how human they are. I cant help but remember that one scene from season 2 where Bertholdt cries about his situation and screams "Who the hell would want to do these sort of things?". Good news is, humanity won and the path to the basement is free. What will we find there, I wonder... will it be hope? Or will it be despair?

Lex

The scene that got me is eren saying all he had in is head was hate, but armin have dreams other than that.

PKS

Yeah that resonated with Levi and also Erwin helped him make the decision.

Lewis Coupe

Love your content man been looking forward to these episodes keep up the content much love ❤️

dg_2drunk

the fact that this episode has almost no background music up until the end just makes it hit so much harder

Adam

Beautiful reaction bro, can’t wait for season 4! That’s when the story really begins

Toast Ghost

Attack on Titan really is the peak of anime

Ace

I've watched this show like 10 times, and this episode still breaks me... Loved this reaction, it's a very comforting feeling seeing you have the same experience with the show as I did. Keep it up man, love the genuinity! <3

AngelGxbriel

I knew it would happen, if this episode didn't make you cry then idek, but I said it would and it happened. Even if it was right at the end. That is why this show is peak, surpasses all expectations for what people perceive anime to be. AHH so happy :) can't wait for season 4 to start, oooooooh my god .

Antoine Jones

I didnt cry at all when I first saw this, Fullmetal Alchemist (both of them) traumatized me enough that I was ready for anything attack on titan (and any other anime) throws at me

Antoine Jones

Also Levi didnt make the decision. Erwin did..... he slapped Levi's hand away when he tried to inject him. that was his way of saying "dont even think about using this on me"

Bocchi the sweep

Don't worry, everyone's reaction was the same this episode. Much like how the episode had zero music until the end, you were also quiet until the end. And that's exactly what we all expected and hoped for! Great reaction! I hope you're ready for the next 2 episode, you're gonna love them!

Martin Vaclavik

notice the use of music in this episode... or rather the lack of it untill the last moment... what a masterpiece, hollywood could never pull this off ♥

Thamor

Both thinking Erwin died in that charge, well that was too epic to be too teary. Armin's sacrifice got me as it was much more longer dragged with his hints like "I won't see the sea" to Eren when making that plan for colossal. Japanese VA's are best in the world to hit you with emotions in scenes like these. AOT will not be the only anime that will hit you in the feels, more you get sucked in to stories from other anime too that people suggested, there will be episodes that will hit you like this.

Russell Gambardella

<3 the crazy thing is Attack on Titan only continues to get better

B

Armin'd sacrifice when he said all he has to give are his hopes and his dreams and that he wishes Eren will still get to the sea, that's where I first got tears. I was so shocked and the music was so intense and emotional and perfect for it. Same with everything you said too, every single heart wrenching moment of this episode, and even when Bertholdt was killed had me an emotional wreck. This episode is one of my favorites of all time. Thank you for your genuine reaction and for not being afraid to show when you teared up. Too many reactors, specifically men, will try to over react and be misogynistic about their reactions, but you gave pure honesty and vulnerability which is much appreciated.

Arraka

Episode 1 already got me. Just imagining having to watch your own mother die like that get me teared up every single time.

Andrew Rocha

Actually that was just Erwin hallucinating, he wasn't conscious by that moment...

Richard Wheeler

the first content that made me cry was anime when I was 16 or something... and now I'm 23 and ever since I've cried a lot to a lot of animes (or at least tear up, whether out of goosebumps or emotional scenes.) Anime is just THAT WELL DONE

Florian M

Daily reminder: keep sure to check for an after-credit scene

Yessi

14:26 the only logical choice is to revive Erwin, not only is he more experienced, he's a much better fighter and less hesitant. Armin and Erwin are both geniuses who gave up on their dream in the end, so there's no way to decide based on that. Expect for story reasons Armin is just so much worse of a choice that it still triggers me after watching this show about 20 times.

Yessi

17:19 i hate how Eren doesn't remember that he's alive due to fucking Erwin, he would've been killed off during his trail back in season one were it not for Erwin to save his ass

Nathan S.

-Ep. 1 with Eren's mom in last moments saying I don't want to die, got me. -Levi giving that scout Petras patch saying it was his friends, got me. -Kenny dying telling Levi he wasn't meant to be a father figure, got me. -Erwin's moment with Levin sitting down letting a better person decide, got me. Along with this moment. RIP Commander. I easily connect with characters and emotions and can't hold back. There are more moments ahead like this... Also, thank you for feeling for Berthold.. if you can understand on this deep of a level of the bigger picture. The next season shouldn't break you as much as it did for others.

Nathan S.

It was good timing... and wording that made Levi make the final choice. Definatly like a sign for Levi to let go of his emotions as well for the commander and do the right thing for humanity going forward. As what he preaches to the kids.

Enemi

Erwin's goal was to reach the basement. He had no further plans. Levi knew that, because they had a conversation about it. Levi also heard Armin talking about his dream of reaching the sea. So Armin was chosen because his dream was more ambitious than Erwin's. That is the way I see it.

Kevin Williams

If you like heartbreaking or heartwarming tears, your patrons are going to unleash the anime beast on you. There are so many tears to be had.

Bryan Wells

Erwin being a good fighter has nothing to do with anything. It is honestly a 50/50 roll on who would be the better choice, Erwin has the experience and the mentality to lead, and is insane enough to not have any hesitation. However, Armin can adapt to be quite similar, and his brainpower is undeniably better than Erwin. There is a chain of command for a reason, Hange should be able to run things until Armin is mature enough to be a proper leader, and his ambitions seem to be much bigger than Erwins, since it wont just stop at the sea..

Bryan Wells

Bro literally everyone is alive thanks to someone else, they have all repayed each other for lives saved, there is zero debt or guilt in letting someone die. And if you think about it, yes Erwin saves Erens life, but he has also killed the most people than anyone else in this universe (as far as we know) so if anyone owes anyone anything, its Erwin owing his life for all the people he has killed. although Levi seems to think it is worse to let him live in hell, so maybe letting him live would be the better punishment? like I said, it is 50/50 as to who should have been chosen, but I am personally very glad Armin was chosen, I think it was a great decision on the stroy writing perspective and the reasoning given in the show. Levi had to make a decision, weather it was the correct one or not. And he made that decision without any second thoughts afterward. You have to respect that.

Thomas Berry

To step behind the curtain for a minute, Armin was the only choice. Erwin had his goals, his driving force, right there. Get to the basement and know the truth. He was at the end of his arc/path. Armin, on the other hand, had the goal of seeing the world beyond the walls. .Except for physically being at the last wall and the edge of the world beyond, Armin is no where near reaching that goal. Armin's character still had so much more growth, narratively, than Erwin's. Erwin would come back, complete his goal, then stagnate without any more significant growth. Armin would come back and still have a goal to pursue, with so much potential for growth. In-universe, it's a pretty similar reason. Erwin dedicated his life to finding out the truth about the world. That truth now lays (supposedly) at his fingertips in the basement. Once he reaches that goal, he would lose nearly ALL of his driving force. He spent so much time driving towards that singular point, that once he reaches it he won't know what to do with himself. Armin, on the other hand, still has a goal, a goal that they are currently no where near able to achieve yet. This will then push him to improve, to give his all. In essence, in this instant, Armin IS Erwin, just younger, with so much more time left to do great things.

Maggie

This scene will kill me every single time. From how I see it, I gotta say, I get why Levi picked Armin. Erwin, more or less wouldn't have the same drive as he had before. His dream stopped at a certain point. He had not clue what to do afterwards. Levi, his close comrade and at this point friend, wanted Erwin to rest after all he had to go through to get where he was. I have to agree with what you said. Erwin never had peace and Levi realized this. No matter what anyone says, Bert will remain one of my favorite characters. I'll miss him but I understand why I he had to die. It was him or Reiner. Ah there's too much I want to say but I'mma just cut myself off now.

Nepherenia

We get it, you are mad Erwin wasn't chosen., but they lay out the reasoning for the choice they made in the end, and Erwin had named Armin a tactical officer after a handful of months, because he'd already proven himself. Both choices had merit, but weird to get so mad that you think Armin doesn't deserve to be saved when he's proven his value many times over.

Astral

You are going to make me cry dude, stop D:

wartgalore

Wait til FMAB makes you cry before episode 10

wartgalore

The story is top tier. The thing that keeps it from being top tier as a whole are artistic choices they made for drama or hype that don't really make sense. You have to suspend A LOT of disbelief for ODM gear to make any sort of sense for example

Anonymous

When the episode is so good that you start to reflect on your life. LOL

Aldo Fernández

I literally just join you patreon just to see your reaction on this season, you're awesome! Btw there's so many heart breaking animes that can make you cry just from the first episode. One example of this would be AnoHana (That flower) I'm joining your twitch channel to hope if you watch Tokyo Ghoul that anime it's just incredible

Kurt

I am not sure whether Bertholdt's death is more satisfying or sad. It's hard not to be quiet due to the amount of disbelief during episodes like these, I have zero complaints about your reactions!

Mugiwaragirl

The first scene that got me in AOT was the revelation in season 2, when Reiner and Berthold transformed ; seeing both sides hesitate, and being sad about the situation, them losing comrades, that was heartbreaking. But the worst for me is the entire season 4 (my favorite ever, so intense). You'll cry your heart out so many times when you reach season 4 ... stay strong, we'll cry with you 🤣🤣🤣

Stoke me a clipper

One of the things which breaks my heart every time is the immediate relief on Bertholt's face when he first wakes and sees the Scouts. When he called them all precious comrades just a couple episodes ago, he wasn't lying.

Toast Ghost

Yeah the ODM gear really breaks the emersion of the giant 70m bald man kicking in the big wall.

Mohamed Harizi

this ep .... always gets me ... its like the 5th or 6th time rewatching it and it always makes me cry .....

Lijnaito2021 !

Let's not forget Moblit and his sacrifice to make a split second decision to save his commanding officer over his own life. Pushing her into the well to save her as he gets completely eviscerated. He didn't have any doubts or regrets. All he wanted to do was save the person he cared about the most. He was a loyal right-hand man to the end! Rip section commander Moblit Berner

stas benko

I cried so much at attack on titan I honestly can’t remember what was the first time

Ameth

I dont remember the first time i cried in attack on titan, but knowing myself I'm sure it wasn't a *big* moment, it was probably just some small insignificant moment like a character smiling at something, or thinking about something, or talking about their goals for the future, etc.

Robin

Watching Eren break down at the end of S2 (after Hannes was eaten) was the first time I got really upset, but this episode was the first to make me ugly cry.

Cece

This is about where you can begin referring to the series as AomMH (Attack on my Mental Health) rather than AoT Godspeed 😤🙏

Matthew

Man I really love Levi, but Armin is my favorite for sure

B. Kelly

This decision was the worst one to give Levi honestly. You will see later in the series, Levi didn't keep his emotions out of it at first. He told Eren to not decide with his emotions but Erwin was Levi's rock, the one person he cared for more than anyone else. Putting this choice on Levi was the meanest thing ever. Levi eventually picking Armin over Erwin was also him going with his emotions because, what is the most loving thing a person can do than show pity and letting them rest. Also (absolutely not) fun fact from Isayama! Levi was the one that went out to Shinganshina again at a later time to collect Erwin's body. He has seen so much death, but it was Erwin dying that made him weep.

B. Kelly

Little bs to be honest. Erwin's dream was finding out if there were people beyond the walls. You can literally put that in the exact same box as Armin wanting to see the ocean. For Erwin the basement was going to be the first step towards the goal of finding out if there are more people
