Characters being “summoned” has not been a thing in a long time, that was kicked to the curb.

Alexandre Géhin

I personally LOVE this ending. Cliffhangers keep the hype going for me, and discussions and theories pop up everywhere, I enjoy that too

syaimaral

She jinxed it. Always making the worst possible decision right when things look like it might be all right. True to her name. OMG this show. I feel so sorry for her. That missile looks like a nuke. There will be war!

Gilgabro

it's very poetic in my opinion. Peace was so close and it was snatched away at the last moment. jinx killing her adoptive father and embracing his ideals is so tragic and powerful despite him being an antagonist. I really unterstand him even if i don't agree with his methods. He is a human and he clearly cleared for her. She is just carrying on his legacy because he loved her while she grew distand from her sister. If her sister could have only accepted her sister for who she is now...

Nattis_O

The end is soo powerful and the lyrics on the song is sooo perfect! Sence we get to see an overview of everything we can see the butterfly effect everyone's decisions make. Everyone has their reason to fight and most of them are noble. Yet someone's well intentions can create havoc. And Jinx's characters are soo intricate. With her mental issues and abandonment issues. She loves her sister but keeps seeing signs that she will leave her again for Catline. And she also believe that she will not love the new her. At the same time, Silco loved Jinx as she is. All the characters have soo much debt to them.

toolittletoolate

I get that everyone gets mad about cliffhangers, but this ending was perfect. A masterclass in story telling.

Somedude Watchintv

It wasn't really at the last moment. Unless Silco handed over Jinx or she turned herself in the deal was null and void. The Council would have to agree to peace without preconditions for there to be a chance.

KaijinGarou

It definitely is. The fact that they pretty much gave closure to the themes that were presented throughout the season, what I think they did do, doesn't mean it's not a cliffhanger. Cliffhangers aren't a bad thing either, they're quite necessary, and this was well done. They explicitly or implicitly gave you answers to the questions they raised but still left enough loose ends to hook the audience for season 2. I think you have a misconception about what a cliffhanger is and a negative bias towards them, when they can be good.

Hatoma

Well that's change since they declare that Arcane is canon now and the lore will be changed.

SAL

I am not physically capable of finishing the final table scene without crying. God this story was so good. So ready for s2!!

Gentle_Smackdown

and then the long wait begins, at least you can react to the music vids now and perhaps a few leagues of legends cinamatic scenes for fun, to get a bit more insight on the world

Daniel Griffiths

the biggest F you in the history of cliff hangers

Something tells me if you watched Game of Thrones, that show would have been torture for you every season if you watched as it was released lol. Okay, but all jokes aside, it's going to be worth the wait. I can not wait for Season 2. It has been a year now since this first season dropped so hopefully, Riot will be underway with S2 in 2023. On the topic of good shows, any chance you might end up reacting to Wednesday?

Martin Vaclavik

seen the whole show like 5 times, the ending like another 10 and cried every time... I'm even on the verge of crying just listening to What Could Have Been every time (also Goodby and Guns for Hire)... what a masterpiece ♥

Richard Wheeler

LOOOOL yeah..... THE CLIFFHANGER... Even as someone who has played League for a decade, I also think the lighter guy who died was playable character material, but he's not. Silco was a limited time character you could use in an autochess game inside League

Miklar Sihn

The whole overcity was historically built on 2 things. The materials from the mines in the undercity and the brilliance of their scientists/engineers. After Hextech, they are also a trade hub. But what Jayce was suggesting was to force them to trade for raw materials, rather than owning the mines as they do now.

Miklar Sihn

Silco is just damn interesting. This episode hints as so much. How close his friendship with Wander was, how much he actually trusts his understanding of people and how much he has changed during this show.

MAH1RO

Well, it's not really an "alternate universe" it IS the world of LoL. But it's true that a character death would not affect the game. Because the Game just throws all the characters into an arena to see how they fight. In the game it doesn't matter from which time the character is, or if it's a human or a godlike creature. So even if someone dies in the series it doesn't really affect the game. and the great thing is: in the series you don't see a difference between game-characters and new characters. they are all really well made and fleshed out. I've never seen a series that combines so many types of personalities without just simple stereotypes. You understand every character, what drives him/her and why they think they are doing "good" even if they make everything worse in the end. And people don't like the Jinx-HarleyQuinn comparison because they both have the same stereotype, but Harley Quinn is mostly that: a stereotype. Jinx has a personality, she acts out of feelings, out of fear and anger instead of just blank craziness.

Toasterfinal5

And to think that Attack On Titan’s “To Be Continued” cliffhangers were considered evil 👿….. lol.

Docnox

Jinx is the Joker to (Vi+Cait's) Batman

Bondrewd

39:50 All songs are "league of legends specific".Every piece of music including the pop songs was written for Arcane specifically (with the exception of a short bit of the "get jinxed" song, which was the song with which the character Jinx was introduced into the game back in 2013). The one that gets people most often into trouble is the "Enemy" one by Imagine Dragon, although that was written for the show, too. So not sure why some of them get you in trouble and some do not, maybe it just depends on the collaborating Artists of the specific songs (Sting, Woodkid, Denzel Curry, Miyavi, ...) and their labels and how they deal with it.

Docnox

also, that's not a cliffhanger lol. It's the moment the story stops being about two girls from the lanes. If it continues a second longer, the season stops being about the sisters it started with. it's perfact.

Docnox

last, lol, this music video features Cait and Vi: https://youtu.be/aR-KAldshAE

Rinzzler

Arcane is its own world independant of the game, it uses the lore of the game to influence the story however the game has no effect on how the show will or won't go.

Kami Nator

Character from the Games are: Vi, Jinx, Caitlyn, Ekko, Heimerdinger, Jayce, Victor, Singed. And there are alot of small Hints of what Characters might show up in Season 2. If you want to react to "Enemy imagine Dragons" you heard in the show. You might spot a few frames.

Anonymous

The actual playable characters that are from the game are Vi, Caitlyn, jinx, Jayce, Victor, Heimerdinger and Ekko I would definitely recommend you to see some cinematics of League of Legends because they are so amazing with great music and there is also a cinematic with Caitlyn and Vi

Himari

It probably won't surprise you but there are an absurd amount of details in this show. just from this episode things that you probably missed: during the viktor and jayce scene at the clockwork thingy, when viktor says "you have to destroy it" jayce looks at his hammer because he is ashamed that he used hextech to create a weapon, but viktor corrects him to the hexcore which is his life's work and what viktor will be remembered for. in the scene right afterwards with finn (tatoo lighter guy), silco is speaking to sevika (robot arm with sword woman) with every single one of his lines, and when she swings his blade you can see he is grasping for air because he wasn't actually sure he would live there. when jayce and silco meet to negotiate for peace, silco is fully calm but as soon as jayce mentions jinx he goes into a full panic. when silco is talking to the vander statue he uses the line "the boy didn't even haggle" which is exactly how ekko describes jayce in episode 1. it is also heavily implied that jinx drowned him in the fountain to kidnap him since you can see his hair is wet during the dinner scene which has extra meaning since vander tried to drown silco in the past during the flashback. and finally, right before it all ends you can see jayce is smiling at mel because he believes everything is fixed now, no more bullshit, no more catering to others, he is back to being jayce talis and wants to help people. arguably the best moment in the whole show and jayce being the best character in the show with how he constantly goes back and forth on what he is doing but always finding his way back to who he is.

Joyce and Viktor must live. They are in the game league of legends like Jinx. That means they live

Dethrox

only thing im disappointed (a little) is that its taking so long to have another season :// :D i was sure it will be this year.. and yet we might get it another year or some :/ i mean ofc it takes times.. and all but still..

Dethrox

oh.. i was in the impression that its about alot more characters than just two girls from the lanes.. you mean.. scenes with just Jayce. Victor, Mel etc.. is also about them ?? :D for my its a 100% cliffhanger (not a bad end of a season) but definitely a cliffhanger.. im also afraid there will be a either a big time jump or a story about a different city and we never get to see what happend here

Lewis Coupe

It's coming out next year after the first season they said it won't be coming next year (2022) it took 6 years to create arcane so 2 years is fine by me

Dethrox

oh.. i must have missed that :D yeah. make sense then ^^

Anonymous

No, it does not. And the Riot has even stated that a character's status in the game will not be a deciding factor in if they live or die.

vRED13v

this last episode has my favorite line in the entire series, and you recognized how good the line was "in the pursuit of great, we failed to do good" im definitely looking forward to the Edgerunners reaction, and any other League reactions

Anonymous

There is a small like 15 second video on youtube for an arcane season 2 announcement but it is very small, we have no date yet but it was said to be next year. Another series you might enjoy is The Legend Of Vox Machina, it's an animated show based on the first dnd campaign of Critical Role. I'm not sure if you are interested in that stuff but I highly suggest it.

Mikropp

a part of me is also afraid season 2 won't be a continuation of arcane but a new story somewhere else or at a different point of time (since the lore of league takes place over quite a vast amount of time) but at the same time i really really hope it does so too because while continuing this story would be cool and all, it'd be 10 times cooler to see more of the league world animated ... xD also i truly believe it'd be harder to keep up the same level of quality that this master piece is, if they continue this story, compared to if they show a different part of the world

Jessimi G

You've reached our point of pain. Welcome. lol. Now we all wait.

Jessimi G

I'd like to point out a couple things in this episode you might have missed. When Cait and Jinx were facing off, and Cait went down, Jinx started to go crazy. Some people don't' realize, but everything Vi was saying to 'calm' Jinx, was actually increasing her anxiety because all those memories were negative for her. Silco was telling Jinx "Don't listen to her" because he knew Jinx was starting to spiral in pain. Silco then gets free and tries to save Jinx by shooting Vi. Jinx doesn't realize though since she was so overwhelmed, and only reacted to the fact that Silco was about to kill Vi, so Jinx instinctively protected Vi but didn't mean to kill Silco. So that entire scene... Silco was trying to protect Jinx, then tries on his dying breath to still have her not feel bad for what she did by saying "don't cry, you're perfect." Then in the end scene, as the rocket is flying toward the council room... some people miss that even though the council were fighting about Jayce's decision initially, they all voted there to approve it, for peace. They agreed to give the undercity to Silco and let it be free, turning it to Zaun. Instead, it appears they're about to be blown up by Jinx's rocket.

feyatsirk

I'm going to say its a separate universe??? From my understanding, the lore has even been changed slightly or redone entirely for this show so it doesnt match up with the games lore anymore? We do have a S2 announcement but I'm suspecting it wont be out until Fall/Winter 2023

Ameth

Viktor is the most selfless character I swear to gosh it murders me. He's spent his WHOLE LIFE from start to now trying to help **other** people, even as he crossed over to topside and became an assistant at the academy he always strove to maker **other** people's lives better, never his own. And then the one time he tries to be selfish, aka work on the hexcore to help save himself (and of course save other sick people too, if it can cure him it can cure others so it's not even a 100% selfish goal), it goes wrong and he immediately decides to drop it even if it means he'll die. MAN

Ameth

also one of my favorite foreshadows: "Today's the day you die, Silco". HE WASN'T WRONG

Ameth

and someone else said it but i may as well: Riot has definitely said any specific person being a part of the game means nothing for their safety in the show

Paul Smith

There are also some cinematics and other video treats that relate to this. The video for the song "Enemy" has a lot of content that is missing from this show, particularly about Jinx and Ekko's relationship. There is a 2 min announcement with audio for season 2 which includes great content as well. And an old League of Legends cinematic for the JInx character from 2014 "Get Jinxed!" You could react to all of these, although you might want to combine some of the short items. Yes, pretty much all the songs are great to react to as well. There is a good video about how the Riot team wrote the ending song "The Monster You Created" and how they managed to get Sting to sing it.

Ryan Gilg

Luckily Edge Runners finishes its story in one season so you don't get got twice in a row. But this was an amazing series can't wait for season 2. Don't worry your boy victor isn't to where he is in the game so he will survive. Others that's going to be a fun fallout

Angel Hernandez

Apart from the songs, there’s also a BTS 5-part series on YouTube called “Bridging the Rift” which goes through the process of making Arcane and everything the team had to go through. It’s pretty entertaining so if you’re into that, I highly suggest giving it a watch

Chyro Nighthowler

It would kinda matter if it is the same universe, if a character dies before becoming the character they are in the game. Even if they are summoned from various points in time. Like if powder died, Jinx would never have existed to be summoned to summoner's rift. So if it is the same universe, that would mean characters that haven't yet 'become' what they are in the game, could not die in the series.

Chyro Nighthowler

Song to react to: "Get Jinxed!" from league of legends. Champion reveal song from Jinx, with full cinematic :D

Lex

I won't recommend overlord to any new or non anime fans, if you're not familiar with japanese RPG games and community you won't have a clue what it is about, and it is really not in the same category with AOT, I doubt you will enjoy it. Death note 、FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST and code geass would be more alike.

Fernando Lahude

Simple...politicians's...greed. The reason for all wars.

Anders Pike

Honestly Overlord is much more strongly inspired by Dungeons and Dragons than JRPGs. The real problem is the show leaves out way too much from the LNs. It's still somewhat enjoyable, but the show is like a 6 or 7/10 vs the LN's 9.5/10 for me personally.
