jojo was written in the mid 80's and is still being written to this day the author (Araki) broke it into parts and there are currently 8 parts written and 6 parts animated, with part 6 wrapping up literally yesterday. Araki when writing jojo wanted to celebrate all the pop culture he loved and so has referenced many things in the pop culture when he was writing it, like for example the buff characters in the earlier parts are meant to represent the action heroes of the day like Schwarzenegger and Stallone, there are also characters in jojo like DIO, Robert E. O. without saying too much jojo is split into parts each part has their set of characters and their own storyline the stories are semi-independent as they go their own route but they also corralate to previous parts right now there are 6 parts animated with part 6 finishing just yesterday and there are 8 parts in the manga. Jojo is a longer anime as part 1 is 9 eps part 2 16 part 3 78 4,5 and 6 are 39 each it is a very fun watch i think the shows weak points are part 1 and some of 3 but other than absolute crazy anime to watch
