The big picture is Tempest essentially debuting as a nation to the entire world, and showing everyone that you don't want to mess with them. It's kinda hidden by all the politics, meetings, and expositions, but that is the end goal. Kinda brilliant writing despite how a lot of people seem to not like it very much. These types of things would take ages in the real world, and this style showcases that.

Hahahaa. Luke has PTSD about the conference room. It's okay Luke, they won't be in that room all the time now. Also the anime never mentioned this but Ramis used to be known as the Spirit/Fairy Queen before she was a demon lord. But because the prerequesits to become a demon lord is to kill 20,000 people and harvest their souls, Ramis fell from grace. She no longer was allowed to hold the title Spirit/Fairy Queen and was reduced in rank. Ramis also has been through multiple incarnations, but because she was killed immediately after becoming a demon lord her next incarnation kept reducing her species rank to a normal fairy. With each incarnation by the way, Ramis lost her memory of the past. The LN's conversation didn't explain it well, but while she has the magicule count to be a true awakened demon lord, apparently her true self was cursed or something and she de-ranked as a species. But the trenants and dryads used to look up to Ramis and served her many years ago so they have bias opinions.

I'm an anime only but I think the next big enemy will be these "angels" that supposedly come when a nation becomes to developed (I believe they were mentioned by Luminous Valentine). This season is all about Rimuru building up roads, trade routes, entertainment structures and business relationships so my theory is that by the end of the season or maybe the next one, angels will come and wreak havoc. They might be the next big bad.
