I love the scene at the start of the episode with the mom. The little details like her sister closing the door behind her, but her silhouette stays so you know she is listening in are just perfect.

FaerieRose

I love the smaller stuff you watch, too.

4:50 Top 10 anime betrayals 😔😔

Yero19

The anime is a self-contained story in 13 episodes. The kitchen scene is a perfect mix of comedy and horror, the father's reaction when he arrives and just by seeing his wife he understood that he better get out of the way if he wanted to have peace afterwards, wonderful LOL The danger sign on the minivan's radio surely refers to the fact that the cassette player is broken and if they put a tape in it will probably end up damaged.

This show is soooo good top tier drama/adventure

古河渚

yeah the teary eyed bit is real with this anime, when I tell you I got wet eyes on literally every episodes if this one it's true lmao (doesn't help that I watched like the whole thing in one sitting lol), truly an amazing piece of media You know what's another piece of media that will make your eyes water ? Sound! Euphonium (the propaganda never stops), I am convinced you'd like all of it, to me the best anime about music and performing arts on the more serious side

Your genuine reactions to these hidden gems is why you’re one of the few reaction creators I watch, and probably my favorite to watch overall. No over the top or exaggerated reactions to farm views, and always willing to try anything we recommend, no matter how popular or obscure it may be. This is one of my favorite slice of life anime, so I’m glad to see you’re enjoying it. Can’t wait to see more.

@FaerieRose - It was you who was interested in a reaction to Ascendance of a Bookworm' wasn't it? FYI: Over on the 'Semblance of Sanity' patreon channel it just won a poll and they'll be watching it shortly - starting on the 1st August I think. The full reactions there are 'sync your own media' reactions - but I assume you have access to the episodes.

MORE!!!

Sometimes it's best to wander off from the mainstream anime and watch some of the older gems. These wholesome Slice of Life animes offer some much needed respite from the usual fare of swords and sorcery. They are usually fairly short series as well, and can be great fun.

Tatersalad666

Thanks for letting us know. I too am very interested in a reaction to Ascendance of a Bookworm, so its awesome to hear that they will be starting it soon. It really deserves more reactions.

Always loved how this series can somehow write 4 simple teenage girls going on a trip and making it feel like the most impactful event ever.

While it's still summer we should watch Summer Time Rendering after this IMO.

Fusssel

we went to denmark, was a small village and there was very little night pollution. Our vacation home (hut) had a sauna, so we went to the sauna and then enjoyed the night sky afterwards. Crazy view, so I can totally relate with your egypt-story.

Summertime rendering next in my personal opinion!

Don't mind me, I'm once again back to recommend Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song as the next Petreon anime.

Went to Montana on a family trip a few years back. Walked around the national park and stayed in a small tourist cabin. On the last night it was a real clear and warm night so just sat on the patio drinking cider looking up at the stars.

I'm an astronomy nerd, so I actually go around specifically chasing the most beautiful night skies. I could say tenerife was the best, because it was the darkest, but I'd have to actually say it was arctic norway, thanks to the northern lights. Which is relevant, cause this is the show that made me wanna visit the arctic! Imagine, the entire sky melting a bright neon green and that's kinda how it looked

Regarding what you said at the end, I think there are some people that conflate something that’s popular is the equivalent of being good, but really beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Look at Academy Award winning movies, for example. Most of the movies that win those awards aren’t “popular,” but from the art of movie-making, they are considered the best of the best. It’s the same with anime. Just because an anime is popular doesn’t mean it’s good, per se. Most of my favorite anime aren’t really all that popular either. Some of my favorite anime are shows like From The New World, Violet Evergarden, March Comes in Like a Lion, Ano Hana…not unheard of series, but obviously they are no Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, etc. One of the things I love most about your reactions Luke is they are genuine. You enjoy a lot of anime that I enjoy and am glad that you get to experience them as well. I can’t wait for the day you get to watch March Comes in Like a Lion because I feel like that is an anime you will absolutely fall in love with…if it doesn’t tear your heart into a million little pieces first.

27:40 Well... There are still a lot of anime like that, especially from GOAT studio KyoAni... They have a lot of quite popular anime as well. Anime like Bocchi and Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho (The one You watch now) are usually more popular between older anime fans, which are tired after hard day of work and would rather relax watching something fun than focus and think a lot watching something complicated. That doesn't mean we don't like those more popular anime, complicated anime of course. Anyway, I hope that someday You would be able to watch Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid dragon, Yuru Camp and K-on. The Love Live and BanG Dream are quite good series as well. Especially since they focus on music more. Im not gonna put Clannad and Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (Your Lie in Aprill) since I believe that those anime, You would surely watch eventually.

Nakama Forever

That's exactly why I like Lukes reactions so much too. I to also love all the anime you mentioned. Especially March comes in like a lion and Ano Hana

Nakama Forever

I love the horror scene they just threw into this wholesome anime :D As for your question about night sky, I'd have to say any clear night where I live. I'm on the top of a large mountain range and live in a cabin. On a dark and clear nights I can actually see the milkyway stretch across the sky.

Zey

hopefully you pick up girls band cry in the near future.. they have banger music!!

Night Sky... At the Grand Canyon. Darkest skies I've ever seen... Every where I've lived is so bright at night that only the brightest stars are visible. But at the Grand Canyon it was so dark that I could see the Milky Way and all the color in it. The sky felt somehow lower and closer with how full of stars and colors it was.

Ah - Dragon Maid, Yuru Camp and K-ON are favorites of mine (BTW, K-ON reactions have just started over on the 'Semblance of Sanity' Patreon channel if you're interested). Non non biyori is also a very relaxing and sweet anime. I also enjoy zany comedy - like Asobi Asobase and Nichijou, or Zom 100. Basically I like a good mix of happier anime too. I find there's plenty of sorrow and drama in real life. Don't need too much more in my anime.

University first years' initiation camp. In the sticks of easternmost Finland 50 or so kilometers from the closest settlement. We were just doing the basic team spirit building and drinking like any student would, but there was also a sauna and a small lake there. It was late September, barely 5 degrees outside. I remember that we were cooling down by the lakeside in between sauna sessions in just our bath towels, chatting up shit and drinking beers when someone noticed that there was Aurora in the sky. It was weak, barely visible, but we 20-or-so people basically naked in the chilly weather spent more than half an hour in total silence just looking at the sky. Surreal, but so amazing an experience.

Cédric Michaud

Also same scriptwriter than A Place Further Than The Universe which shows in how good the dialogues are.

Nicolas Castro

March Comes Like in a Lion is one of my favorite animes, it's just beautiful, I hope Luke will see it at some point, I think he can really enjoy it, Ano Hana would also be an excellent reaction

Yalir bokro

Wait, what is this show?

HappyDoodads

Back in college, I took a class in astrophysics, and the big assignment we had to do at the end was star trail photography (you can look it up if you're curious). I had to go really far from the city and sit there outside, waiting for the next picture to take while freezing my ass off (Canadian winters are rough in the middle of the night), but I don't think I've ever seen a more beautiful night sky since.

Iron_claw

Can you please put a thing at the end of your videos that shows all the anime that you have finished as well as the ones you are currently reacting to. It would make it easier for people who are new to your YouTube channel as well as new to your patreon to know what anime you have already reacted to so they can just search up those old reactions of anime you have finished and go back and watch them
