The feeling of something missing yet being perfect is pretty normal for an ongoing story. Season 1 is a prologue to season 2, the side characters and co-leads got their story concluded or well developed in s1, yet our main character left unfinished, barely even changing throughout the season. Everyone around him told him he's stuck, but he did not listen until he literally had no other choice. This is where season 2 begins.
