Lager Lager

After the last frieren episode aired I immediately read the whole manga and I have to say it’s awesome. I really want to see more of frieren

Marcio Neves

And so, this is the end... so far 😁

FaerieRose

Whatever you feel is best for Thursdays, I’ll be supportive. Day 50 requesting that we watch Ascendance of a Bookworm after Vinland Saga. 📚

Marcio Neves

Please, do "The Apothecary Diaries". It has just ended its first season, too, and already has a second one confirmed. It is totally worthy to watch 😁

Omer Durrani

Honestly I absolutely love these thursday anime slots. At first I was gonna ask to keep these as like a Luke thursday or something where you yourself pick an anime that seems interesting to you and we watch it with you kinda thing. But keeping the slot open for future anime also makes good sense especially with so many coming out. More anime is always welcome lol xd

Marcio Neves

It is funny how no one before Fern have passed, but all after her did. 6 person (halft of the selected in the second test) passing to 1st class mage. That's why Serie have appologised to Sense And quite impressive feat for the clone guy, passing to 1st Class Mage without even stepping out of his home, far, far away 😁

FlyingEagle

regarding what to do on Thursday I'll also say "whatever you want". If you do nothing at all that's fine. However, I'll give some suggestions for the options. If you go for a New currently airing show Spice and Wolf is my strong Recommendation If you add a patreon slot that would be good cause I'm not sure that going down to 1 Geass episode a week is a good idea. If you do start a new completed series either picking one you personally want to watch or doing a full anime tournament will work and either option is fine.

Marcio Neves

24:00 yes, he wanted to be remembered in history, even if for a bad reason

Muligan Shinzuo

What a good series, i cannot wait for Season 2. Making Thursday a flex day seems like a good idea, whenever a series get super hyped you can then jump in without worrying. Good thinking luke. Denken is so sweet, his wife passed away decades ago and she still is the only woman in his heart. p.S: I would like something on the lines of immortality/longevity as well or atleast let me magic away the need to sleep, easy 8h more each day.

Marcio Neves

27:00 oh, right, that olde dude was the one that created the "Rescue Golens", used in Sense's test 😁

AchmodinIV SWE

I would pick a time related magic or some kind of magic that would let me live outside of societal restraints.

Marcio Neves

Frieren can't take the 1st class exam for at least the next toushand years, due to Serie's ban on her 😅

Marcio Neves

Second time watching it, second time I cry. And when I watch it again, but dubbed, next week, it will all be the same again, I bet 😁

ArtKi

4:47 "don't make a big deal about the feet." [Shows scene twice] 13:22 Frieren must have a "suitcase of holding". 34:24 Oh no! Ubel is alone. I had been shipping her with the clone master.

Victoria Pritchard

Frieren pushed FMAB off the top spot lol, I think the Thursday slot should be filled with whatever you want to do, anything that your interested in.

Joku Jussi

"Does human mages develop faster than their elven counterparts?" You should always keep in mind the mentality of a immortal being, they are not in a hurry. Humans are always in a hurry to achieve something in their short life. It's more of a efficiency and effort thing than something special. It's easy to forget that these near-immortal beings have completely different mentality to a human and the whole anime explores how Frieren is trying to learn empathy towards humans who she just can't fathom at the start.

Reennji

I've been watching anime for over 20 years, and I can only say that Frieren has taken the top spot.

Ultraporing

Time to get a Frieren Displate Luke ;)

Reennji

The video "REACTING to The Evolution of Anime Series 1960 - 2020" could serve as a guide for what you can watch next. I would recommend choosing anything after the year 2006. Personally, I would like you to watch Evangelion or Haruhi.

FullHeart

Im not sure the test applicants were shown in chronological order. I think they just showed the fails first.

Marcio Neves

I do think they were, given how it was animated. Serie was on the left side of the "bridge", crouched, when failing everyone until Fern comes in. Then she stands, walk around her, crouch on the other side and for all the others one, she is on the right side of that same "bridge"

Saitama

i would pick a spell that can create any food i desire

Nihilistic Blue

humans have limited time span so they feel more urgency in becoming the best, elves are more laid back in their motivations and decision making and were also hunted by the demon king's army for a long time (frierens village being destroyed).

Shuckleknuckles

Himmel has the perfect name for he truly is HIM

Oliver Schubert

You're calling it perfect now and you don't even know just how much meaning is put behind the names and all the shots. I really highly recommend the video from storieswithstyle "WHAT DO THE GERMAN WORDS MEAN? WHY ARE THEY THERE? || Frieren Cour 1 EXPLAINED" Most of the names in this show have multiple meanings and learning about that really makes you appreciate it more. (but also, as a german, it's quite hilarious to see a character introduced with the name "liar" [Lügner])

alucard1943

you need to finish spy family and other continuations or will get backlogged to Eternity

Nikkelz

They explained exactly that about growth rates during the history of zoltraak back in episode 3. Humans don't have much time so are forced to adapt and grow at a much faster rate than that of humans or demons so their magic knowledge is also expedited. "if you are going to die it'll be to the demon-lord or a human mage" as per Serie only way to catch up to Frieren at this point is to learn faster than her. For a spell I'd choose something akin to casting cellular regeneration, You'd be able to reverse the aging process to a point and cure illness in most people (not bacterial but things like cancer). Would solve both your money and immortality issue.

Daniel Griffiths

my personal opinion, apothecary diaries isnt for twitch. it needs a little attention without chat walking you though it and spoiling:) edit: but im happy for you to take the break from Thursday anime as long as you watch mushoku tensei weekly on a day most convenient to you:) this season is a must watch:)

Keith Merrington

One spell (wish) - For contentment with no regrets.

AppleOfMyEye

As a Japanese listener, I think It will be a great for Luke to watch and react on some videos about Japan from Abroad from Japan or Paolo from Tokyo, not sure is it rude or ok since it’s for patreon…. I apologize if this is a rude 🥹 Luke always seems confused and felt weird because of cultural differences and perspective, as specially when comes to relationship and culture stuff and felt weird about it :) Sorry for my English, I’m watching your video as a way to improve it and thank you so much for you hard work and videos ☺️

Ante

Hope a Frieren poster can join your wall of favorites there one day.

DevDSilver

so when will we finally get a reaction to all the bleach endings?

scalien

My theory on why Himmel's party was the one party to beat the Demon King over a thousand years. He was the only one crazy enough to complete every little side quest and dungeon. While everyone else rushed to the confrontation and were defeated. Himmel overleveled the party. Beat more side content demons, more tiny hidden dungeons, more side quests for a handful of XP than anyone else. He beat the freaking game after 100% completion.

Rob

An entire episode was dedicated to this subject with the flashbacks between Frieren and Serie, who talk about how and why humans will surpass them, he forgot :(

Rob

What an amazing first season. This anime really hit unexpectedly hard, I loved every bit of it !

Tamus Heath

Whilst I'm all for more anime reactions (honestly you've reacted to almost every OST I know already), I vote for no anime on Thursdays. You already watch a lot and I'd rather you switch to something shorter and more varied than overdo it on anime. We shall get there when we get there, no need to cram another anime in each week.

CptStupendous

This is the most satisfying ending to a FIRST SEASON of anything I've ever watched.

elki

Man... I have fallen in love with frieren so much. That last scene made me teary eyed🥹

Dj

The compliment given to you is true though. I was drawn to your reaction channel because of your eyes. I'm glad your sons inherited them Edit: I'd definitely want Fern's spell. Doing Laundry is a pain in the butt, even with a washing machine, but I'd definitely go for a teleportation spell (hint: Black Clover) first choice

GTB

I don't know if Frieren is objectively perfect, but I can't find any flaws, and it's without a doubt one of the best anime of all time. I already know I'll be watching it again! The manga was already excellent, but Madhouse made it sublime for the anime. A perfect alchemy between the writing and design, the visuals and animation, the music, sometimes melancholy and calm, sometimes epic and frenetic. An anime that will stand the test of time. And It's going to stay No 1 on myanimelist for a long time, I think. And don't worry, the sequel is at least as good and full of surprises. Let's hope that season 2 will have the same prod-value quality, because Madhouse set a very high standard for season 1.

Magic is about visualization. Elfs see time as this long endless road. Their mana mimics that as it develops. Some humans have no real understanding of how hard things should be, they only see the heights to be reached, and that it must be reached in a short time. And that's how their magic works. Warriors do the same thing. It's why Serie wants ambitious human mages, and why Ubel passed (her vision of what limits her is odd). Other elfs are still alive, yet Serie makes no effort to reach out.

Roxy’s Holy Relic

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Part 2 starts 7 April. We will be there If I had to pick any spell I agree, infinite money glitch would probably be at or near the top of the list

Just Mate

Milgram could also kinda work as a bridge, until another anime appears that you want to watch on Thursdays, due to it being structually similar to full anime opening and endings. It wouldn't really be just another anime, since it is made up of music videos, but it also wouldn't just be music, since there is the whole thing about figuring out what the prisoners actually did and deciding their fate. Also since the third trial hasn't been released yet you'd get the opportunity to watch those songs more closely to their release, which would allow you to more actively participate in uncovering the crimes. Thursdays would just overall hit a sweetspot, since Milgram is both too short to take up a dedicated anime spot, while being to long to be an occasional music reaction. Overall I just truly believe you'd enjoy the songs and would be intrigued by the plot, which should be the priority for any reaction in general, as there is no point in you watching something you don't like.

17:26 I don't know why but this animation was so satisfying to watch

2024-03-29 08:09:21 The only compliment I remember is of 3 martial arts teachers in different times of my life telling me they felt bad for me been born in this era that it would of been much better for me to be born in the samurai era since I can’t use my talent in the modern world with out restrictions

My favourite anime series (Symphogear) sure has flaws, but yeah, I get you, I love it for what it is, even with its flaws. And yeah, Frieren is just such a great journey

Juan Contreras

Is because human mages actually try and put in the work that’s why as for elf mages they take their time since they have a VERY long life

Daniel Golas

Hmm you are strong then, the real question is, are you stronger than goku tho?

Grimhalt

Hi Luke, can you make reacting video to op&ed of Kanata no Astra? the anime is too underrated, both op&ed are great, I love the full ver of the ed song

Palm

Luke, as soon as this episode finished airing, I went on the exact same rant you did. Frieren is a uniquely flawless work, and your reaction truly mirrored mine.

Connor Grynol

A mages power is determined by several things: mana, talent, and training. No human will ever beat Frieren in mana because like muscles, mana can be increased with training. But Frieren is not especially talented. Fern is talented. The skill Frieren has spent 1000 years refining, Fern almost mastered in 10. And yes, humans do develop faster than elves. Back in episode 16, the dwarf, old man Vol was asked about Stark's week of training, to which he said "Human's develop quickly. He's improved a fair bit." We can infer that long lived races don't grow as quickly as humans do.

Andrew Southwell

I think regarding the development of human and elven mages, with perception of time, Elves aren't in a rush so development doesn't need to happen in "just" a few decades. I think it was Serie who said it a few episodes ago, Humans are so much quicker at making decisions, whereas Elves are functionally immortal so taking a thousand years to make a decision isn't a problem. I think the same logic can be applied to the development of their lives and skills too.

Frentzy

for me "perfect" it's first part of death note. I'd say even until someone's death. And it felt better than frieren.

ZLOY AVOKADO

i like , that we both cry at the same moments of this anime. Leterely every moments . Watch Durarara )

KariaP

the spell i would like is the ability to cure any illness, so i can go around heal people. would be pretty fun. alternatively being able to only forget what i want and nothing else.

Arcade'owy Łowca

When you have as much time as Frieren, you don't have to devote your whole life learning spells and training. That's basically impossible. Elves lives different type of life than humans. Can you beat mage with thousands years of experience? Well, as Doppleganger showed, if you use spells Frieren knows well, you don't stand a chance. And some kind of spells just doesn't work on her at all.

Kyle Garrett

I think the reason human mages seem to grow faster than elven mages is simply time. Elves have all the time in the world to learn and advance, so they lack that sense of urgency and drive to do things. Frieren for example never bothered to fix her mana perception issue while casting spells, and has multiple times this series talked about spending decades in a single place on a whim. She is in no rush to better herself. Human mages don't have that luxury of time, so they naturally push themselves to achieve things before their lives end. So human mages probably put in as much effort into their magic in a century as an elven mage does in 1 - 2 millennia. I'm sure an elf could grow as fast as a human if they wanted to, its just that none of them are in that kind of rush.

Kyle Garrett

If I could have any spell from Serie I'd probably ask for a spell that can give people motivation and a sense of drive and purpose. I think a spell like that would go a long way to making the world a better place, since so many people in bad places could get out of it if they just had a push in the right direction. I'm sure in my own life I could also achieve a lot more if in difficult times, or in times that seem good, I could just give myself a boost of motivation to keep pushing and to reach for my dreams.

Eric

i'd like if apothecary diaries took over the thursday slot, since your twitch watch along right now is Sword art online (110 episodes) thats even longer than Hunter x Hunter which was supposed to be your "long" series watch along it will be a long time before we even get to see it, we'd have to wait for Hunter x Hunter to finish since that'll take less time than SAO

anime boss

One piece has all those things it has issues but it hits so hard

Martin Mikuláš

Evan Call amazing ost. i hope ho does music for second season as well

Roy Meulblok

Its hard deciding what is better, Frieren or FMA. They both are in my top 5 for sure.

elki

There's also a sunday slot for twitch. If I'm not mistaken he's gonna finnish bunny girl senpai tonight and next week we should have another anime tournament. I feel like apothecary diaries might win, it came 2nd last time.

Eric

he's doing that new "genre" tournament im pretty sure so unless its drama or mystery it technically cant

Hououin Kyouma

Dead Space is also one of my favorite games of all time. Frieren is in the top 5 on the list of favorite anime.

rostikowb

I understand you, Luke. Frieren isn't my favorite anime, but I totally agree that it ranks first among all anime. People have different preferences, but Frieren is objectively the perfect show

SleppyPanda

You know its something when the hat comes off
