I think SAO does a pretty good job (esp in this season and Alicizeration) of treating virtual reality, neural interface, and AI in a reasonably serious manner between the action sequences; I'm glad Luke is also thinking and talking about these things!

Combat vet and shooting instructor here. Keeping both eyes open is more for combat shooting. That way you keep your situational awareness as well as to judge distance to target in case you need to use a different range than your sight zero on a weapon with a scope.

Part of why Sinon is so angry at Kirito for misleading her about being a woman is not only the girlie voice he uses, Japanese has very gendered speech patterns, and he changes his to be *very* feminine when he decides to play into her thinking he's a woman.

2:19:18 One reason 16-bit era games look bad now is because we are watching them on LCD and OLED screens now, so they look really pixelated. They were designed for CRT screens, where interpolation, phosphorus blur and other other things caused colours to mix (artists would use these artefacts to make it seem like there were more colours on screen at the same or more detail than there actually was). The waterfall in Sonic the Hedgehog is a great example, on a CRT TV it looks transparent and shimmering, but on a computer screen you see it isn’t transparent at all and looks like just a mess of pixels.

Dont know if someone explains it or not, if so ill delete the comment. But as for keeping both eyes open, you want to be able to maintain you depth perception to better gauge how far a target is from you. Think of it like this, you aim down the sight if you are right handed you use your right eye to line up the sights with the target while the left eye helps to maintain the depth perception. Now I want you to look at an object in your room, cover one eye. Notice how its a little more difficult to fully tell how far something is from you. The same way with red dots, and scopes. the one eye looks down a red dot and you line that dot up with the target. Its a whole thing. Try it the next time you go to a shooting range. Itll feel off at first but it makes a world of difference in accuracy.

The comparison with the VR is almost impossible between the VR in Sao and our VR, but imagine a TV from 1920 and a TV from 2024. What we currently call VR is the TV from 1920, so it's just the first step in the field VR and the VR in SAO is just you plugging into the game with your brain, so there's no comparison

Since the people in game are dying of heart attacks, the killer is obviously Light Yagami. They register for BoB with their real names, Light hacks in, gets their names and then just writes them in his Death Note. I guess in this world he's also just super dramatic and choosing to dramatize the murders rather than just do it from the shadows.

Sorry to say that, but WHAT THE FUCK is going on with you and the chat bashing the mother. She was clearly in shock. If you ever encountered a situation as sudden and lifethreatening as this, you could understand. If you are not mentally prepared for this your thinking just goes blank. A few years ago I fell off a cliff a few metres and rolled down a hillside with many sharp rock. Only my glasses prevented an EXTREMELY pointy and sharp rock to pierce trough my right eye and probably even reaching my brain. Like a miracle I survived this with only light injuries. But in this moment, I was not myself anymore. I was not a grown man. I was literally like a helpless toddler and cried for my dad who was already climbing down to help me. Thats what a real shock is.

The wierd part isent that he can deflect bullets with the sword but the fact that he manage to perfectly time every bullet deflect not to mention remembering in what order he needs to deflect each red line. U can se the line but u cant calculate the timing when the other guy will shoot, thats the absurd part.

I think a lot of people has a problem with the "upset at the kid for doing it" part more than freezing, to be honest. People bring guns, and demonstrate the use of them during crime just to accomplish the freezing and changing character effect after all.

Regarding closing one eye to fire a weapon, I think that it depends on the person. I'm in the Army ROTC and when we fire rifles we have to line the sights up in our vision but when I was doing it, I kept getting cross eyed and my vision was really blurry when I had both eyes open. My instructors told me to close one eye and then my shooting improved dramatically. People who vehemently claim that you always have to keep both eyes open don't know what they're talking about.
