The earth rumbled with such force that it seemed like the ground itself was coming apart. Those tremendous shakes and booms only grew louder and stronger with every passing second and all we could do was hide behind a rusty, beaten down, old car, I know pathetic right.

We didn't know what was coming, and the honest truth we didn't  are what was coming, the only thing me and Howard where concerned with was living through this nightmare.

"What the hell is it?" Howard whispered in my ear.

I didn't answer him and truthfully I wanted to slap him for asking such a foolish question. I mean how was I suppose to know what was coming, we where looking in the same direction after all and just like him I was also seeing the tall buildings covered in thick trees as well as a cracked street covered in grass and moss. I saw a line of endless cars long sense abandoned as well as the occasional corpse that had been stripped away of flesh and blood, leaving nothing but broken bones sprawled out on the ground.

These things weren't new to me, for I had seen them all before. It was easy to tear my eyes away from such gruesomeness especially when a giant paw threw itself into my field of vision.

I resisted the urge to scream as I looked at the giant appendage covered in fur and wielding sharp claws. Looking over towards Howard I could tell that he was going through the same struggle.

Looking at the paw was nerve racking enough, my heart began to beat faster as I wondered what exactly was the owner of that giant paw that seemed to be able to crush dozens of people with ease. What whereever this creature was the majority of its body and as hidden behind one of the partially destroyed buildings.

"We have to get out of here now..." Howard once again whispered in my ear.

"Shhh." I said putting a single finger over my mouth. "We have to stay hidden."

I grabbed ahold of Howard's shoulder, preventing him from running away. Staying calm was the best thing that we could do. Howard seemed to calm down a little bit as he looked into my eyes, which was good the last thing I need was this guy panicking and getting killed as a resolute.

"GGGGRRRRR!!!!!!!"

Both me and Howard jumped a little as we both heard a growl coming from the distance.

"BANG!!!"

The sound of shattering glass and rock filled the air as a pair of giant claws ripped through the building standing in front of us with ease. As the building collapsed ruble and glass fell from the sky like rain. Howard and I where forced to cover our heads and hope that we where not crushed by some giant rock, or impaled by a large piece of glass.

While we prayed for our safety the creature with black fur, the creature that had hidden itself from view had made itself known.

I didn't dare say a word as I looked at the giant furry creature that stood on all fours in front of me. It which had large bulging muscles that would put any body builder to shame. It was as big as a skyscraper if not a little bigger and with its yellow eyes it scanned the whole area.

Me and Howard stayed low, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible. While looking down I saw a small pile of dirt on the ground. I without waisting time took a handle full of dirt and covered my body with it as if I was washing myself with soap. Howard understanding my intentions did the same.

Furries had a good sense of smell which made them more and more dangerous.

Standing perfectly still and quite me and Howard observed the beast that seemed to be doing nothing but grazing on the huge plants and trees that grew around the buildings.

Just by looking I could easily guess what the creature was. What I was looking at was a Panther, a giant male panther in fact.

"We need to get out of here." I whispered over at Howard who nodded his head in agreement. "Stay low and quite."

Both Howard and I snuck our way past the car that we where hiding behind, we hid in the tall grass that was long enough to cover our bodies fully. We army crawled through the grass, praying that we wouldn't be discovered.

The loud crunching sound of broken wood filled our ears which alerted us that the giant panther was still eating.

["We just might make it."] I thought to myself which I know was a little optimistic but honestly I needed to be a little hopeful in this situation.

"BOOM..."

My body was thrown a few feet in the air as another booming foot step appeared out of no where, but their was only one problem. It wasn't from the panther standing in front of me, no instead it came from behind.

I slowly turned my head and looked behind me. I saw it standing from afar a giant lioness growling on all fours.

The beast wasn't looking at me or Howard, instead her eyes where transfixed on the giant black panther, who in turn stoped eating and growled at the lioness.

I knew that what was coming, I looked towards Howard quietly and only said one thing.

"Run!"
