The world was never the same again. I would think that, that would be the most appropriate response to the situation that humanity had found itself in.

It had been 10 years since the tragedy had began and ever since then cities had been reduced to nothing but ruble and replaced with ever encompassing jungle. The earth split open creating lakes filled with lava as well as spawning volcanos that turned the blue sky black with smoke and many lands where washed away by the rising sea level.

This is the world that I had found myself in, the world that changed with the arrival of the Munje. My mom is gone, my house is destroyed and all I can do is survive.

"Braden are you ok?"

I broke away from my thoughts and looked towards my partner in crime Howard Walton. Howard had been with me ever since the world had gone to hell. He was my closest and most trusted friend.

"Dude now isn't the time to be distracted." Howard whispered.

"Yea." I said wiping the sweat from my head.

I understood why Howard was afraid. The place where we where at the moment was a open filled of grass and small trees. Tall wrecked buildings stood all around us and yet both of us knew that these flimsy structures would provide us no cover of protection. Right now we where sneaking through a danger zone. We needed to be alert.

"I know, let's just keep going." I wanted to this journey to be over. This journey that was filled with nothing but tragedy and hardships and I knew that soon it would be.

"We're almost their." I whispered with excitement in my voice.

"Yea we are."

I look towards Howard who was also smiling as he looked towards the far off distance.

"All of our hard work is finally paying off." Howard said. "We are so close to the hidden city."

"Yea we are."

I felt content, which felt weird since it had been a while since I had felt such an emotion. The hidden city was said to be a safe haven for human beings that had managed to survive this chaotic world. Notice how I said "Was said" like this information was nothing but rumor, well guess what that is exactly what it was, a rumor.

Both me and Howard had traveled from city to city gathering information on this supposed safe haven and now we found ourselves in the city of Vunshire which was hundreds of miles from my home. We didn't know if this place was the real deal but we had to try.

"Do you think that the rumors are true Braden?" Howard asked while walking through the tall grassy fields with me following behind.

I didn't have to guess what he was talking about. "I don't know."

Howard's smile grew wider. "To think that their is a chance that all of this can be fixed, a chance to fix the world."

"The Furry Cure..." I said. "Honestly Howard its to good to be true."

"Why do you say that?"

"Oh come on, how many safe havens do you know that are still around to this day?" I asked. "How many supposed cures turned out to be nothing but failures."

Howard looked defeated as we walked through the ruin city.

"Look I don't want to make you feel bad but at the same time I don't want you to get your hopes up." I said feeling bad.

"I know it's just... AAAHHH!!!!" Howard yelled out as we both fell to the ground that was quaking with unimaginable force.

"What the hell!?" I yelled out completely in shock even though deep down I knew what was coming. "We have to hide." I whispered in a panic as I looked towards Howard.

We ran as fast as we could across the open field of grass, we ran towards the half destroyed buildings that stood in the far off distance. We both knew that the buildings where our only hope the only question was, where we going to make it, where we going to be able to hide from the Munje that was coming.

We where both out of breath as the earthquake grew stronger and stronger. We where still a few feet away from cover and I knew that we where both not going to make it. I looked around frantically and it was then that my eyes fell on a red rusted down car covered in green shrubbery.

"Howard over their." I pointed at the car as soon as I got Howard's attention.

Thank god Howard understood my intention with ease as we both sprinted towards the red car.

I slid over the hood of the car, Howard took the long way around and ran around and met me on the other side. We both squatted down and looked through the dirty and half broken windows.

Howard looked at me with worried eyes. "Braden what are we going to do?"
